|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Four bedroom, lakes country home with central heat and A/C. Includes washer & dryer. Easy access to lake level and full dock. One full bath and one additional shower. Quaint, clean, and on shallow sandy shoreline for easy swimming or relaxing. New front and rear Trex decking. Beds sleep 8. If you are looking to get away and relax for a few weeks, you can't go wrong. Utilities are all included along with Cable/HD TV and free WiFi. Two refrigerators. Comfortable living room with lake views and game table. 42' HD television. Gas fireplace. Excellent neighbors. Home is opposite the Arrowwood resort where you can rent a pontoon, boat, or jet ski if needed. You can also bring your own and tie up to the dock. Yard service takes care of keeping yard manicured so that all you have to do is relax and enjoy the day. This home faces west so nightly sunsets are a given weather permitting. Alexandria is a great little town offering good restaurants, a movie theater, golfing, and much more as it caters to the summer resort crowd. We recently moved south ourselves to be closer to family so our goal is to find a couple or family wanting to get away from the summer heat of Arizona or Florida to enjoy (minimally) 1 week or more of Minnesota summer or fall colors. Golf is plentiful in the area with Geneva Lakes, Alexandria CC, or many others.
We prefer Friday to Friday rentals. Check in is after 3:00 pm and check out is 10:00 am.
I have been in sales leadership roles with AT&T, Cisco, NetApp, and now Nimble Storage. We bought the home originally when we lived in Eagan, MN to enjoy our family and to have a place to get away from the Twin Cities and relax. Getting to the lake just seems to stop time and lets you truly invest in your family. This past spring
we sold our home in the Twin Cities and re-located to Birmingham, AL to be closer to friends and family. Our children are now college age or older and have migrated south and we were getting a little tired to the winters so we made built a home outside of Birmingham and moved in April. We can certainly provide any personal references needed but suffice it to say we are looking for people that will treat our property and our neighbors with the utmost respect. Lake Darling is an awesome lake of around 1000 acres but it is connected to several other lakes so there is ample opportunity to explore if you have a boat or jet ski. There is gas access on the lake as well as restaurants and rentals. There is plenty to do but the most fun is doing nothing at all.
Owner/Manager purchased this cottage in 1998
It was actually owned by a co-worker at Cisco. We had been traveling to the Alexandria area with friends for several years and renting ourselves and had come to like the area. When my co-worker put it up for sale (so he could build a home on a lake in Twin Cities area), we jumped on it and acquired it lock, stock, and barrel. Since then we have annually made improvements and investments in the property. Even though we've now moved south to be closer to our children as they all migrated south for college, our intent is to keep this property so that upon retirement, we can use it for the entire summer season ourselves. However, for now, we need to rent it out for 4-6 weeks a year which will enable us to financially support the expenses associated with the property.
When you drive down South Darling Drive, its almost as if you leave one world behind and enter a new one filled with lots of trees and quaint lake shore homes that are appealing and represent the Minnesota cabin experience. There are resorts on either side of our home that will remind you of days past when you may have come to the north woods with friends or parents. Our home fits right in there with great views, a fire pit for evening s'mores, and much more. Our shoreline is typically the calmest so you can enjoy the water and sunshine. Swim over to the neighbors swim platform or simply lay out on the dock. Its all about relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Minnesota summers and falls.
Our stay at this house was absolutely wonderful! The house has lots of room and the yard is great to play all kinds of activities in it! The dock was really nice to lay out on and has plenty of room to dock a few boats! The water is also great around the dock and great for swimming! The neighbors are extremely helpful! We would recommend this place to everyone! Great week spent with family!
We had two families of four, plus two grandparents:), meet at the cabin for a weekend getaway and we found the cabin to be a great place to stay. It was really close to Arrowwood Resort, which was nice since our kids went to the waterpark twice. Lots of room for kids to play at the cabin and much nicer (and cheaper) than renting hotel rooms at the resort. We would recommend this cabin to other families thinking about a nice northern getaway. (Even in the winter!)
I know the owner personally, but I rented the cabin for a group of 7 of us girls to have a wine weekend! We had a blast! Local bars were fun, and lots of fun playing cards and hanging out! Even with cold and rainy weather, we were able to get a lot of use and enjoyment from this cabin! Very comfortable and homey! Totally worth it for any age group! (:
We just got back from a fun-filled week on Lake Darling. The weather and lake were incredible, and the cottage met all of our needs. Everyone had comfortable sleeping accommodations. We had everything we needed to cook and grill, and lots of room to relax and play board games, watch movies and enjoy evenings around the campfire.
The fishing was great. We caught many meals of sunfish, along with walleyes big enough to keep and eat. We boated to a few restaurants on the lake...many places to choose from. The kids enjoyed many afternoons on the lake tubing and kneeboarding.
We rented jet skis one afternoon which was a great hit with the teens! Enjoyed visiting the Kensington runestone and spent an afternoon playing mini-golf, racing go-karts and playing in the bumper boats. We had a week of making memories...it was hard to leave. We highly recommend it!
