Overview

About the property

Conveniently located in the Island Grove section of Edgartown. The home is nicely furnished and very well equipped. The kitchen was just remodeled and has everything you need to take advantage of all the fabulous local produce and fish. The beds are all quite comfortable. There is one queen, two extra-long twins (that can also be made into a king bed) and two twin beds with trundles

You are just a five-minute walk down an old Indian trail to Morning Glory Farm for island-fresh produce and great home-made pies. You are biking distance to downtown Edgartown, South Beach, State Beach and Edgartown Great Pond for kayaking, canoeing, clamming, etc. Island Grove is located off the W. Tisbury Road so if you need to drive, you can avoid the Vineyard Haven Road/Triangle traffic.

About Anne Shusterman

We live in Colorado and love the ocean. We got tired of rentals that were poorly equipped and not what they looked like on-line.

Why Anne Shusterman chose Edgartown Area

This home has everything you need to enjoy Martha's Vineyard -- fully equipped kitchen, sheets, towels, beach chairs and games -- just bring your clothes.

What makes this house unique

We are tucked behind Morning Glory Farm and biking distance to Downtown Edgartown, South Beach and State Beach -- all on a bike path so you don't need to bike on the street.

Overall the property is a good, although not great option for staying on the beautiful 'Vineyard'.

  • 3 of 5

The positive things about this cottage include: In general, the cottage is in good shape with ample space in its 3 bedrooms and main floor living area. A nice back yard setting with patio, rinse off shower, hammock and grill. A nice kitchen with a good size refrigerator. Easy walking distance to Morning Glory Farm. A very quiet and peaceful setting. Short drive to Edgartown and central location for several great beaches.

Some negative aspects include: the 2 bathrooms are in pretty bad need of updating but at least are spacious. If it's hot, the 3 window A/C units in the bedrooms struggle to keep the cottage comfortable, especially in the main living area, and roar at night when trying to sleep. Being in a heavily wooded area has pluses and minuses...it's very quiet but when it's hot, even if it's a windy day, you're not going to get much of a breeze here. The biggest negative for me was the bugs... I needed a shoe handy at all times for spiders and centipedes on the floors and walls...would always need to check bedroom before trying to sleep and would always have to kill several more. You expect some in a wooded setting, but it's a big issue.

Owner's Response: Hi. I'm so sorry with bugs. We were actually in the house the week before you arrived and honestly haver never seen a centipede in the house although there are spiders in the basement. I wish you has let me known while you were at the house and we could have sent some one over (either cleaning company or bug company). The only word from the following two tenants was that they had a great visit but we will certainly get someone to the house to look at any bug issues.

Perfect Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very well equipped and in a great location. It was clean and it had all the conveniences of home. It is a very short walk to Morning Glory Farm where one can get coffee, bakery items, cheese, and really everything one would need to make a meal. It is also a short distance to Edgartown, easily reached by the nearby bike path, and Katama Beach is also not far. Our daughter and we enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the area. We would love to return to the same cottage.
