Looking for the perfect getaway? Having been avid VRBO renters in the Rhinebeck area, we recently purchased this stylish and sustainable, new construction home in May 2014. We fell in love with the Hudson Valley coming up for weekend getaways and loved the area so much so that we decided to make our weekend stays more frequent.
Designed by award-winning local architect, David Borenstein, his latest creation fully embraces his philosophy to design and build in a way that is mindful to the environment, yet makes bold visual statements. The home has been written up in several publications including Hudson Valley Magazine.
Our private 3 bedroom, 3 full bath home offers a light-filled open floor plan with cathedral ceilings, french doors, hard wood floors throughout, cozy gas fireplace, and a chef's kitchen. The first floor master bedroom features a walk in closet, and an ensuite bath with steam shower and jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom on the first floor has a queen bed and separate closet. The guest bath on the main floor offers a bath tub and vanity. The upstairs offers a private area with bedroom, full bath, sitting area and library.
Our home is a wonderful oasis and is perfectly suited for a romantic couples weekend away or for a family looking to explore the great outdoors. A large, open dining area with communal dining table is welcoming of a wonderful family meal or having a cocktail chatting with old friends.
Just outside the home you will find a outdoor dining table, patio with an mason built Lynx grill (great for BBQ's) and a granite fire pit perfectly paired with Adirondack chairs, a great destination for enjoying morning coffee or feeling relaxed and cozy just before bedtime.
On 7.62 acres there is plenty of privacy for any nature lover to explore or perhaps a backyard good old fashion game is what you desire. Either way, there are options to suit both.
Our home is also child-friendly. We offer retractable child safety gates located on the stairs, high chair, Graco pack & play, Baby Bjorn sleep crib, daybed with trundle which pulls out to (2) twin beds or (1) king Size bed, and a children's activity box filled with fun materials for children's art projects for a rainy day. Lastly, there is a large selection of children's books available.
Located in Milan township, our house is 12 minutes from both the heart of Rhinebeck (Bread Alone - our favorite coffee shop) and Red Hook proper (visit Flatiron Steakhouse on your stay for a romantic dinner); and a few minutes from the Taconic making it ultra-convenient commute if you're traveling from NYC.
Below are just a few of the many activities located near our home. Located in our house manual, there is a more extensive listing of recommended restaurants and activities including a Dutchess County tourism guide. As a guest of ours, you will have access to the Mobile Hospitality Manager - an ultra convenient HomeAway app that gives you access to anything and everything you may need throughout your stay.

Long time nature enthusiasts with a thirst for adventurous weekend activities, this young family has found the perfect home away from home. Having lived in three different cities over the last 12 years, our family sought out to find a home complete with a happening downtown, a variety of restaurants to suit even the most picky eater and local and sustainable farms all in a private country setting. Growing up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and never forgetting our roots, it is important for us to give our son a place where he can grow up and run free. We love everything this area has to offer from the people, to the local shopping, and of course the endless list of “things to do”. We really hope you enjoy your stay here in the Hudson Valley and if we can do anything to make your stay that much more pleasant, please let us know!
The Owner purchased this house in 2014
Selecting this property was relatively simple – this house is well made and a lot of thought was put into every last detail. We have a real appreciation in our family for great craftsmanship and a meticulous sense for doing things the right way, the first time. This house is one of David Borenstein’s creations and fully encompasses these principles; it is energy efficient and LEED qualified. We expect that our home will be LEED certified by year end. The work that went into building this home is unparalleled. Even on a rainy day this home allows the perfect light to come through making it feel sunny and comfortable. From the cross ventilation system and radiant heat to the energy efficiency and sustainable materials used to build, we find ourselves as excited to come up every single time.
Convenient location (centrally located to Rhinebeck, Pine Plains, & Red Hook), proximity to New York City, amazing restaurants, endless activities (something for everyone), artistic culture, and warm and inviting locals.
We absolutely loved our stay at this house and it really was the perfect location for a long weekend from NYC.
We had two little babies and were so impressed with everything Kelly had provided to make it easy for us upon arrival and it is only a short drive from the local town, which is so cute.
The house itself is luxurious, spacious and perfect for small groups with two big dining tables and plenty of outdoor space. The boys particularly loved the fire pit, which was perfect even in summer!
Thanks again for a wonderful stay, we hope to be back!
My family and I had a wonderful time at this beautifully appointed and luxurious home and a day after we got home to NYC we're already trying to figure out when we can come back!
Everything we could've needed for our trip was clearly and very thoughtfully provided for. We were looking for a place that gave us the space and access to the Hudson Valley. My preschooler loved exploring the huge and well manicured yard as well as play area upstairs full of books and toys. We had a grand old time skipping rocks at a nearby pond just a short trail outside the yard but still within the large property. The kitchen is a dream to cook meals in with a powerful stove and oven as well as all the kitchen accoutrement one could need to create a gourmet meal. We especially loved all the small touches - welcome box of chocolates, plush linens, steam shower in the master bedroom - essentially all the creature comforts you'd expect to find at a 5* hotel.
We really appreciated all of the recommendations for restaurants and activities in and around Rhinebeck and Red Hook Kelly provided in advance of our trip so that whenever we could tear ourselves away from the house we were never short of things to do. We even tried asparagus picking at a farm she recommended and will credit that to how my picky eater was able to chow down on several stalks of grilled asparagus - such a treat!
In case you can't tell, we loved our stay here!
We had a wonderful stay at this home. This is our second time renting this place. We continue to be impressed with it. It is extremely nice and offers similar amenities as a luxury hotel - soft linens, toiletries, etc. All the appliances are new. The place is special in that you do not feel like you're in a rental; more like staying in a friend's beautiful home. We were able to cook great meals and take advantage of the fresh seasonal ingredients that Rhinebeck has to offer. Overall, we had a relaxing vacation and felt well rested by staying in such a wonderful home. We would definitely recommend the place.
We rented this house to celebrate Thanksgiving with our large, extended family. We can't say enough about how beautiful this property was. The owners have paid attention to every detail. From outdoor blankets for use around the firepit to travel coffee cups... they've got everything a renter could need. The house, itself, the yard and the décor are just gorgeous. My favorite part of the whole rental experience, however, was how sweet the owner was from our first conversation. It made our Thanksgiving weekend just that much more wonderful. Our family was SO thankful to be able to enjoy our time together in such a beautiful surrounding. Thank you, thank you!!
This place exceeded our expectations! The home was more meticulous and pristine in person than in the pictures. We stayed here with our 15 month daughter and felt the place was impeccable with multiple extras (travel crib, high chair, even games and books for children, outdoor gas fireplace, grill, etc). The place was extremely modern and clean, and also very private. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the modern appliances. The bathroom even had a steam room function and felt like a spa. We have stayed at many VRBO places and this by far has been the most immaculate as far as design and cleanliness in Rhinebeck. We cannot thank the owners enough for their generosity to share their home. They were also extremely accommodating and helpful in planning our trip with suggestions of where to go for dinner and/or activities with kids.
My wife and I had an excellent stay in this lovely home. It was very modern and also eco-friendly (yes, the water pressure was good). The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was fantastic. We ate outside on the deck and also used the fire pit as it was getting to be a crisp night. The surrounding woods were fun to explore and we also wished we had brought 10 other people so we could play soccer in the huge yard.
The house is in a relatively secluded area with no neighbors within site, which we really liked, though there are some other houses nearby. It is well placed to be a great launching place for visits to Rhinebeck and other neighboring towns and sites. We love walking around Rhinebeck in the amazing restaurants and shopping in the unique stores. The area has so much character.
You won't go wrong if you stay at this house.
