Shalyse purchased this cabin in 2014
Our stay in this home was wonderful. It was more spacious and more beautiful than the pictures showed. It was very clean and all in order when we arrived. It was very quiet, secluded, and in a beautiful setting. There were beautiful deer to greet us. After long drives we had dinner at the Resort-it was great. Service was super, and the desserts were amazing. On Wed. we visited Zions. On Thursday we cooked Thanksgiving dinner-loved the double ovens and the big table and space for dinner. The fridge was big enough for all of our food and goodies. On Friday we went to Bryce Canyon. In the evenings we just enjoyed being there in the home. This will be a Thanksgiving we will all remember.
We used the sleeping mats for the children, this worked well. One critique-there did not seem to be enough linens for all the (extra ) beds. Things like toilet paper, paper towels were well stocked. We did bring our own hand soaps for the bathrooms.
Our family of 14, gathered for a reunion. We had a little trouble locating the property after we entered the security gate. Once we arrived, we found the property location and size to be perfect for our group. The cabin was clean, except for the BBQ grill. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the kitchen/great room, the large deck off the dining area, and the fire pit. Would suggest some lighting for the steps leading from the deck to the back yard/fire pit area.
The mattresses were comfortable, but in my opinion, the sleeping accommodations are adequate for only 12 persons, as the pull-out beds and floor cushions are uncomfortable. Two people in our group woke up with back aches each morning.
We were excited to come upon an outlook for the Checkerboard Mesa, only a short walk on a trail near the cabin.
Would definitely recommend this property, and stay there again.
Shaleese, the owner, was very accommodating during the planning process.
We had ten people which meant at least three hotel rooms. We found this cabin and had a great time. For the price, it beat hotel rooms and for communal time was vastly superior.
For us, the best feature is not noted in the description: a fire pit in the back. That was a highlight for post hiking story telling. The cabin was conducive to our large group dynamic from galley cooking to hanging out around the fire.
"Sleeps 18" - I see this is accurate, but make sure to review the specifics of accommodations because, as a headline, it is misleading (though not inaccurate).
Our family of nine adults enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, clean and spacious home. We rented this home for 4 nights and had to go out and buy liquid dish soap since the 3 oz bottle provided was not enough. We had to buy paper towels since only one roll was provided. We had to buy Plastic wrap and zip lock bags since there were no paper products including plastic wrap, aluminum foil, etc. The kitchen ware was very sparse. There were not enough large cooking pans, no griddle for making pancakes, not enough mugs for coffee (two were broken with no handles). We had to buy trash bags because only 6 trash bags were provided. Only one small kitchen wash cloth and one dish towel was provided. There were no small face/hand towels and only one large bath and medium towel for each person was provided. So we had to do a load of towels. We were only provided soap to do 2 loads of wash. There was no coffee table in the living area. The bedrooms needed an additional side table. We had to put stuff on the floor by the bed. We also had to put the decorative pillows on the floor since there was no table or chair to put them on. We enjoyed our stay in this clean beautiful house but it was frustrating that essentials were not provided thus making it hard to cook meals for 9 people and take time out to do loads of towels since only one towel per person was provided.
The house fit our family perfectly. It was very clean. We had a dinner with the rest of our family that were also staying at Zion Ponderosa and we were all able to fit and eat and share some experiences about our family. Shaylees was easy to work with. We will use this service again.
Our stay was amazing. Shalyse has a great property in a wonderful location, just ~9 miles from the Zion National Park's east entrance. It is about 40 miles from Bryce Canyon.
Shalyse provided us directions to her cabin as well as gate/door access codes one day before our arrival. We were coming down to the Zion east entrance from Bryce, using 89 and 9; and simply made a right into Fork Road, as suggested in the directions provided by Shalyse (from St. George). One request to Shalyse, please add these directions from Bryce to your 'directions to the cabin' sheet.
The cabin itself is clean, spacious , well maintained and surrounded by trees which is very refreshing for city dwellers like myself and family. The kitchen, and bathrooms have all amenities you could hope for and more. This was the first time I rented through VRBO and not hotel rooms and I have to say there is nothing like living in a cabin with family and friends. Thank you Shalyse for facilitating a great vacation !
One suggestion, please request the waste company to put in recycling bins near the 9 intersection. While enjoying nature we should be responsible as well.
