Sweethaardt is perfect for sweethearts. This cozy retreat is neatly tucked away behind its main house, Mabel Haardt Cottage. It is located on Tupelo st, Seaside's first street. It is located in the back of the MabelHaardt Cottage, formerly the founder of Seaside's own home. This one bedroom cottage provides lots of privacy snuggled in a cozy abundance of trees. It is a very quiet location perfect for one person or a couple. The 2nd floor bedroom has a double bed. The downstairs provides a galley kitchen and a charming cozy living/dining area with a love seat sofa and a full bath. The cottage has a front deck with two teak rockers to enjoy as well.
A College of Charleston graduate, a New Orleans Native, and born in Alabama, Haardt Moses owns and operates the SweetHaardt Cottage.Greatly interested in the arts and real estate, Haardt actively manages this property with the idea that this house should serve a place to create beautiful family memories.
This cottage is located in the more family oriented side of Seaside, where its a bit quieter. The cottage is only about a 4 minute walk from town, and a 50 foot walk to the beach ( only 3 houses off 30A). It sits on the edge of Rosewalk, a central garden court constructed to preserve the characteristics of Florida vegetation, designed by architect/urbanists Robert Orr and Melanie Taylor.
The property was cute and quaint and relatively inexpensive. The 2 biggest issues were the mildew smell throughout and very uncomfortable bed and sofa. The location was ideal!
The Sweethaardt Cottage was a perfect place for my girlfriend and I to relax and enjoy a peaceful week at the beach. We couldn't ask for a better location and there are bikes included with the rental so you can explore the area a bit. We spent most of our time at the beach and this was the perfect place to rest our heads and keep our belongings. There is a brand oven and stovetop as well so we were able to make some meals and save a little money on food. Will definitely be back and renting again!
Well maintained cottage that provides what you need in a small space. We spent most of our time at the beach or walking around Seaside/Watercolor. Would love to rent it again!
Good location, a minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to Seaside Central. House is showing it's wear and tear and needs updating. Overall can't really complain about the property.
The service from management/concierge/owner, whomever is supposed to be running this place... It didn't exist. Tried multiple times to get touch with someone regarding the fact we only had one bike and it had flat tires. One phone number out of service, one phone number rang infinitely and the other was a number to reservations whom could provide zero help. Needless to say we didn't ride bikes, which is very disappointing considering one of the reasons we go to Seaside is for the bike paths and exploring on bikes.
Don't recommend this place and wouldn't stay there again.
The cottage was just as described. We had a nice week at the beach. We had one small plumbing problem due to a lot of rain in the area and it was fixed the same day.
The location is great - easy access to the beach and the town center. Seaside is AWESOME!!! We were able to park in front of the house and walked everywhere. The bikes advertised are also shared by the front house - they had flat tires so no one was able to use them. The yard is very messy and the main house and back house both look like they need a good painting and clean up. I was excited to find a dog friendly place - however the fence is not secure and does not go all the way around - so be careful with your pets! The space was fine for 2 people plus our dog and we enjoyed the "tiny" house experience. We didn't cook, there are tons of restaurants within a couple minute walk. Seaside is very dog friendly and we were able to take our dog most places. The décor is not the best - the couch is old with a slip cover and the bedding/pillows are pretty old too - however it slept fine. We had to use some placemats to cover the kitchen windows - no drapes and people could see right in. The wifi did not work. Despite the place needing a little love - we had a great time - and I would stay there again. It seemed a little expensive for what we got - but overall we had a great weekend with no complaints.
