Escape to this 1 bedroom 'luxury' cabin with expansive marsh views! A perfect retreat for couples, artists, writers and nature lovers looking to get away, yet still have charming Beaufort 15 minutes away.
Beaufort and St Helena are smaller and more relaxed than many of the coastal areas. The downtown area is charming and has the historic character of Charleston, without the crazy summer crowds.
St. Helena has a different feel. It is more rural and less polished than resorts like Hilton Head. There are farm stands and seafood markets everywhere. There is a small central area with several cute shops and art galleries. There is a fort, tabby ruins and Penn Center, the first school for freed slaves nearby. You can ride horses from a nearby stable on trails and the beach or rent kayaks and navigate the tidal creeks. It feels worlds away yet, we are about 15 minutes from downtown. 10 minutes from grocery and drug stores. Smaller markets and restaurants are just down the road, very close by.
The beach at Hunting Island is wonderful!!!! You drive through a maritime forest and there are no houses on the beach except for a few old cabins at one end. There is a lighthouse you can climb if you wish. It is 5 miles from the house and I provide a pass so that you can come and go as you please.
January and February are rented at a discount for our northern neighbors wishing to escape the harsh winters for a few months.
Im a Carolina girl who has traveled the world, but there is nowhere as special to me as the beautiful low country!
Elizabeth Sher purchased this cabin in 2007
My parents had a place nearby when I was growing up. I have alway loved this area. When I found this property it was overgrown to the point you could not see the marsh and the house was a mess. After many years and a total renovation I love my time here and am excited to be able to share it with others!
Marsh views from almost every room in the house. Laying in bed and watching the shrimp boats wind their way to the ocean as the sun rises. Napping or just relaxing with a book on the hanging bed day or night. Watching wildlife in the creek and marsh. Buying shrimp straight off the boat just down the road.
My husband and I had a month at the Fish Camp cottage. It was perfect and a home away from home! A beautiful spot on the creek---love watching the grasses turn green during the month.
The lovely screened porch with the cosy hanging settee was enjoy by all!Thank you Elizabeth for all you suggestions for enjoy the area!
The cabin is so beautiful with everything you’d ever need for a trip away from it all. The location was great being so close to Hunting Island and historical markers.
My husband and I are locals and found out the day we were supposed to move into our new home that it wasn't going to happen for at least a couple of more days. Although, we had plenty of friends and family urging us to come stay with them, I felt 'undone'. I searched VRBO for a property nearby that would also be peaceful. I contacted the owner and she answered right away and told me to relax and everything was waiting for me. The great accommodations included a rustic feel with all the modern amenities. We moved in, built a fire, prepared dinner, and enjoyed wine on the porch surrounded by the calming river and highlighted by the "super moon". It was perfect. Thank you Elizabeth for sharing your enchanting home. D&R Fielden
This is the place to stay and relax. Close to Hunting island state park and close to Beaufort. Plenty of little markets close by also. Would recommend to anyone looking for a little downtime.
We loved spending our post wedding days at this little cottage. It was private, quiet, & relaxing. Just what we needed after a long fun filled wedding weekend! The owner was so sweet, the house was perfect, & the swinging lounge bed out back was just so relaxing. We spent most of our time out there! Highly recommended for a romantic getaway!!
This is a special place where relaxation and peace meet head on! The home is very well taken care of and Elizabeth is a wonderful host with the personality to match! From the porch swing to the dock overlooking the marsh, never a moment that didn't fail to wow us!
