Escape to this 1 bedroom 'luxury' cabin with expansive marsh views! A perfect retreat for couples, artists, writers and nature lovers looking to get away, yet still have charming Beaufort 15 minutes away.
Beaufort and St Helena are smaller and more relaxed than many of the coastal areas. The downtown area is charming and has the historic character of Charleston, without the crazy summer crowds.
St. Helena has a different feel. It is more rural and less polished than resorts like Hilton Head. There are farm stands and seafood markets everywhere. There is a small central area with several cute shops and art galleries. There is a fort, tabby ruins and Penn Center, the first school for freed slaves nearby. You can ride horses from a nearby stable on trails and the beach or rent kayaks and navigate the tidal creeks. It feels worlds away yet, we are about 15 minutes from downtown. 10 minutes from grocery and drug stores. Smaller markets and restaurants are just down the road, very close by.
The beach at Hunting Island is wonderful!!!! You drive through a maritime forest and there are no houses on the beach except for a few old cabins at one end. There is a lighthouse you can climb if you wish. It is 5 miles from the house and I provide a pass so that you can come and go as you please. This year it was voted the 7th best beach in the US and 5 of the ones ahead of it were in Hawaii!
January, February and March are rented at a discount for our northern neighbors wishing to escape the harsh winters for a few months.
Im a Carolina girl who has traveled the world, but there is nowhere as special to me as the beautiful low country!
Elizabeth Sher purchased this cabin in 2007
My parents had a place nearby when I was growing up. I have alway loved this area. When I found this property it was overgrown to the point you could not see the marsh and the house was a mess. After many years and a total renovation I love my time here and am excited to be able to share it with others!
Marsh views from almost every room in the house. Laying in bed and watching the shrimp boats wind their way to the ocean as the sun rises. Napping or just relaxing with a book on the hanging bed day or night. Watching wildlife in the creek and marsh. Catching crabs off the dock or buying shrimp straight off the boat just down the road.
We came here for seclusion....and we unwound and refreshed.
We came here for natural beauty....and we saw herons, egrets, bufflehead ducks and 4 kinds of woodpeckers.
We came here for a comfortable, interesting house....and every room was a destination.
Thank you for a great stay.
Secluded and romantic... great privacy but also close enough to run to the grocery or coffee shop. We loved the fresh seafood down the street, the park pass was perfect, and the owner was very kind and helpful.
Loved our stay at this home. Had some good relaxation time. The house was beautiful and so was the property. Would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We absolutely loved this little cabin in the woods with a nice surprise of fresh flowers awaiting our arrival. It was clean, beautiful, quiet, and had such a romantic setting! Our afternoons consisted of catching crabs from the dock and just taking in nature's beauty, we will deffinately come back.
Very homely and beautifully decorated. Had everything we needed for a few nights stay on our vacation. The setting was out of this world and the facilities second to none. Great location for getting out and about with the beach being very close. Felt like we had just borrowed the cabin from a friend for a few days and could not fault it in any way so thanks Elizabeth for letting us use it at such short notice too.
This beautiful secluded property is a gem. The cabin is equipped with everything you could imagine and need for a long weekend or week-long stay. We spent 7 days and I wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin is nicely located off the main road, yet convenient to the beautiful Hunting Island Beach, local restaurants and historic landmarks, like the Penn Center. The quiet setting is relaxing and peaceful. And watching the incoming and outgoing tides from the screened in porch or the dock is therapeutic. Be sure to take a nap on that hanging bed! And try your hand at catching crabs off the dock. You will not be disappointed! You can tell Elizabeth is a discerning owner and takes great care of her property. She left fresh flowers for us, which was an additional generous and lovely touch. We would love to come back!
