A Beautiful Balance
Designed for both living and entertaining, this beautifully constructed builder's home is sited on a manicured 2.4 acres. A winding driveway and stacked stone walls welcome you to this shingled Hamptons classic. The 5,000 +/- sq. ft. floor plan is designed with an open layout and top of the line finishing throughout. Features include an eat-in chef's kitchen with an adjoining den, living room, dining room, 6 bedrooms and 4 and 1 half beautifully finished bathrooms. French doors lead outside to the partially covered bluestone patio, beautiful plantings and an open lawn. The fenced pool deck features stacked stone walls, a heated gunite pool, bluestone patio and a pool house with a additional ½ bathroom. Conveniently located with easy access to East Hampton, Sag Harbor or Wainscott, this property strikes a beautiful balance with both seclusion and sunshine.
This spacious house easily accommodated two families of four, including four older teens. With its six ample sized bedrooms, everyone had their own room. This immaculate house is relatively new and was built with high end finishes, so there was nothing "quirky" about the house, and nothing was worn or in need of replacement. Every bedroom was on the same floor upstairs, and either had its own modern bathroom or a shared Jack and Jill bathroom, and each had a flat screen television. The master suite was spacious with a king sized bed and luxurious bathroom. The large eat-in kitchen had high end appliances and was well equipped with all the pots, pans, knives and other kitchen utensils you could possibly need. Making meals for eight people in that kitchen was a pleasure, and with the kitchen open to the family room, you never felt removed from the action even when cooking.
The house is on a large private wooded lot with a beautiful backyard and pool area. Outside the family room was a large stone patio equipped with a covered dining table, and beyond that a large sitting area with incredibly comfortable furniture, a high top bar table with four seats, and of course a barbecue which we used most nights. Between the patio and pool area was a lawn with plenty of space to play soccer or throw a frisbee. The enclosed pool area was perfect with plenty of loungers and chairs for all. The pool was the perfect temperature all week and had rafts and floats (we brought four pool noodles and left them as a gift to the house). The pool house, equipped with a bathroom, sink and refrigerator, meant that there was no need to walk back to the house for a cold beer or to use the bathroom. Everything you needed was just a few steps away. Also, in the unfinished basement is a full sized pool table which kept the kids entertained most nights.
The only "con" to the house is that there is only one "master suite", so if like us, you are two families traveling together, one couple is going to have a better room than the other. One of the other bedrooms has its own en suite bathroom, but only has a full size bed. As a rental house I would suggest the owner put either a queen or king size bed in that bedroom to reduce the inequity if two families are travelling together. The other three bedrooms each has a queen bed and the sixth bedroom has two twins.
This is a great house with a very responsive owner and I highly recommend it.
