About Vanya

Stelios Pavlidis (my father), was a Greek film and theater director. Very in love with my mother Simone, they bought this old farm in 1975, the year I was born, and started working on it, and, as most artists do, renovated it the way they had imagined it. Simple, comfortable, rustique and with a lot of character. They lived there for 9 beautiful years. My father went into writing, and going back and forth in Athens for his work. My mother, after having had a very active social life (As she was married with a famous hollywood actor called Curd Jurgens for 19 years), and in great need of serenity and simplicity, brought me up, and started doing pottery courses, organic farming, animal breeding, wine making and many other simple manual activities.

Vanya purchased this farmhouse in 1975

Why Vanya chose Luberon

Beauty, simplicity, character, retreat, and ideal fro children are few of the benefits of this house. The house has a soul, from the love that my parents have put into renovating it. We've had many architects, decorators, artists, friends coming to the house, and all of them feel something special and unique about it. The surroundings are also quite impressive. It's not common to find a house like this surrounded by nature, without any neighbours, quiet and serene, where one can run around naked without being bothered (That's what my parents used to do, to my great shame!). My parent's style and taste are also well represented in this house, keeping the provencal style but adding stylish touches, influenced by their artistic background and various travels around the world.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Vanya

My apologies for the delay. Since coming back from France Dan and I have been putting off real life for as long as we can!!!

However holidays are over and it's back to work we go.

I cannot begin to tell you how utterly incredible our wedding day and whole week was. Everything looked so beautiful, you are right, it really was breathtaking. You are blessed to have such a beautiful house, Dan and I feel a very very strong connection with La Madone after the wonderful memories made there. Our week after was excellent also and the children just adored the space! I've never seen them so relaxed.

We have quite a few photos but I am struggling to send them in one email. I will get them to you ASAP. The official photos will be be back in 4-6 weeks and these may be good for you to use also.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for enabling us to have such a wonderful day. We will never forget your kindness.

Nadege is something else. She is our new found family and was adored by everyone- my Dad even got her on the dance floor! It was brilliant. We already cannot wait to go back next year to visit her.

Thank you again and I will be in touch with the pictures.

Much love

LaMadonne was magical - perfect for 16 friends to relax, swim, cook, drink wine.

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely and even more special than the pictures on the website. The property allows many places to relax, gather, eat so that even though we were many people we were very comfortable. The grounds were meticulous and the flowers beautiful. The pool was excellent. The kitchen was equipped with everything a chef needs and we enjoyed cooking our elaborate meals and having plenty of everything to do so, including the outdoor pizza oven and the grill. The wine cellar had great wines. Vanya communicated every step of the way, always answering questions and providing great information for us. Nadege was very welcoming, warm and helpful. We had a perfect, amazing stay and would highly recommend LaMadonne. We hope to go back again.

Abolutely MAGICAL

  • 5 of 5

La Madone is absolutely magical. I pinched myself every single morning that I was there. The house, the flowers, the location, NADEGE- everything is spectacular!!!! It is truly like a little piece of Heaven on earth. We cannot thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home with us. We had a large group with ages 2 (my daughter) to 77ish, and the property was perfectly accommodating for every age.

Nadege met our every need- she is just wonderful. I would not change a SINGLE thing. Every guest that came to visit said, "how did you FIND this place?" No one could believe its beauty. It was truly the trip of a lifetime, which is exactly what my 8 year old son, Wyatt, said when were leaving. We all cried leaving Nadege and La Madone. I feel like we have a friend for life. We will definitely be returning!!!!!

This farmhouse was beyond perfect!

  • 5 of 5

La Madonne was magical and beyond our expectation! The layout was wonderful for our group of 16 so that there was a variety of places to sit and relax or eat. The location was great - close to Rousillon, lavender fields everywhere and great for biking (Luberon biking had high quality bikes delivered to us). The property was very well maintained - the outside gardens and flowers lovely and the pool so refreshing. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals and store all our food - and the outdoor pizza oven and grill were awesome. Nadege was warm and helpful, and Yvan was charming and available by email to answer any questions. We give La Madonne the highest recommendation. We'd go back in a heartbeat!!

Perfect college mini-reunion at La Madone

  • 5 of 5

La Madone was the perfect venue for our mini-reunion of college friends. The property was spectacular and in a location allowing us to enjoy daily excursions to markets in nearby towns/villages, a wine tasting tour on the Rhone River, and hiking and biking in the beautiful countryside. The beautiful hilltop town of Roussillon is just a 20 minute walk from the property with shops, galleries, a great market, make sure to try the delicious glace.

Nadege, who was on site managing La Madone, was AMAZING. She helped us in advance with dinner recommendations and reservations as we were a group of 12. We enjoyed 4 superb dinners al fresco in courtyards surrounded with flowers, under the plane trees, and on a patio overlooking the River Sorgue. She prepared three dinners in for us with great variety and skill using only the best organic, local ingredients. I am still dreaming of her cherry caflouti, apricot tart, and much more. A beautifully curated wine cellar was just steps away where we helped ourselves to wonderful local wine and simply entered our purchases in a wine log.

We felt that La Madone was a great value and would recommend it to friends and family without reservation. The property was immaculate and well maintained. Yvan, the property owner, was most responsive and helpful in suggesting activities and restaurants. We hope to return some day soon!

La Madone holds a place in our hearts

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, wow! The weekend was one of the most magical weekends of our lives (actually the most magical). The house exceeded all expectations and more, you can't capture just how magnificent the house and grounds until you are actually stood amongst them. The day we arrived we were greeted by the Blue Arrows the french Air Force doing a display (did Vanya arrange that?) :$ Over our 4 days we watched Roussillon and La Madone come into bloom as we couldn't have asked for better weather it was perfect.

Cannot fault the place at all. Nadege was absolutely incredible, her meal was devine and she was always very helpful.

Thanks again for sharing your home with us and allowing us to create memories for the 40+ persons who attended. We will never forget that weekend and would also love to book it in for our 10yr wedding anniversary.

We will forever hold La Madone close to our hearts - We have just booked it for our 10 yr wedding anniversary in 2025

Surpassed Expectations

  • 5 of 5

La Madone surpassed all of our expectations!

The location is just perfect, nestled close to the quaint town of Roussillon. Easily walk to the town for food, sightseeing or shopping. Easily drive to the many other beautiful areas of Luberon. PERFECT!

And the actual farmhouse and property is beyond stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed days just staying at the property, enjoying the huge grounds, lovely pool, vineyard and space. We were totally relaxed and fell in love with the magical beauty of the grounds and the house.

Specifics: There were 14 of us, all adults. We used the entire home plus added on the studio. We all were very happy with our accommodations. The house was spacious and felt very magical. It has such a great history too. We would cook there all together each night and eat together on the huge table on the patio outside. We used the pool mostly, but we did enjoy the sauna one of the nights. That was a plus.

The owner and caretaker are very responsive and caring. They have lots of information to share and such great energy. Relaxing, helpful, caring - pure Provence hospitality.

The Provence is the region of Paul Cezanne. It is the region of excellent olive oil. Cezanne chose this region also because of it's wonderful mixtures of colours and landscapes. It is also the region of lavender fields and sunflowers. Many many little villages around, all unique. Roussillon with the ocre canyon, Gordes with the stone houses, Eygalieres with the Chapelle Saint Sixte, Lacoste with a marvellous castle, Fontaine de Vaucluse with the water falls, Maussanne with its marvellous olive oil, and many many other beautiful villages to visit.
