Three-bedroom House With Pool And Views In South Luberon


Our house, "LES GENETS", sits on the western edge of the medieval village of VAUGINES, nestled between the villages of LOURMARIN (5 kms or 3.1 miles) and CUCURON (3 kms or 1.8 miles).

The house is 150 square metres and sits on a 630 square metre south-facing lot in the upper western end of the village. The land directly to the south and west of the property is agricultural and undeveloped, which provides a lovely, unobstructed view.

Vaugines is situated on the southern side of the Luberon Regional Park and is an ideal base for exploring the many diverse regions that Provence has to offer. Being centrally located makes for easy day trips to Aix-en-Provence, St. Remy, Avignon, the Mediterranean, not to mention all of the wonderfully charming and unique villages of both the south and north Luberon, many of which are listed among France's 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'. Vaugines is a tranquil environment to return home to after a day of touring and crowds. The house is less than a five-minute walk to the village square. There is an excellent gastronomic restaurant, a cafe/pizzeria, as well as a small epicerie that sells freshly baked breads, croissants and pastries.

The beautiful and chic Lourmarin is a five-minute drive from the house. It hosts a fabulous market every Friday morning that should not be missed. There is a very large selection of cafes and restaurants to choose from, as well as numerous boutiques and art galleries.

Cucuron, at a two-minute drive, is a lively and scenic village with an Etang (very large stone pond) in the centre shaded by ancient plane trees. This is where their weekly market is held every Tuesday morning. There is a butcher, several bakeries, a small grocery store as well as several restaurants, including the Michelin starred La Petite Maison.


The main living space is one large L-shape. The living-room with open fireplace, dining room with farmhouse-style dining table, and kitchen with stone countertops and island all lead out to the southern exposed terrace through four sets of French doors that let in the light and lend a feeling of openness to the space.

Our family loves to cook, so the kitchen is fully equipped with everything one needs to prepare a memorable meal. The stovetop has five gas burners, and the oven is extra large. The fridge is a large American style with ice machine.

There are three bedrooms, and the house comfortably sleeps seven (best suited for four adults and three children). The first bedroom has a king bed (180 cms), the second a large queen (160 cms), and the third a set of bunk beds as well as a third twin bed. Each bedroom is equipped with air-conditioning.

There is one bathroom with vanity, soaker tub, rainfall shower and WC between the two double bedrooms. A second bathroom with shower, vanity and WC can be found at the end of the hall outside of the bunk room. A third bathroom with vanity and WC is found off of the office/laundry room at the back of the house. The office/laundry room also houses a full-size washer and dryer.


A large gravel terrace is accessible from the main living area, from which there are views of Mt. St. Victoire as well as stunning sunsets.

There is an outdoor dining set for eight situated under a pergola, a gas Weber BBQ, as well as an additional seating area for relaxing and socializing.

There is a lockable gate at the top of the terrace stairs that lead down to the garden and pool area. The pool is 10x5 metres (32.5x16.5 feet) and has a saltwater filtration system (gentle on the skin and hair) with an automatic rigid cover for extra security. There are pool loungers as well as games for the pool and grass area, such as badminton. The pool is open from June 1st through September 30th. An earlier opening is only possible if pre-arranged.

A perfect holiday

We recently stayed in this lovely home and could not have had a more enjoyable or relaxing holiday. The home is beautifully & tastefully decorated, very comfortable, and there are wonderful views from the terrace. The village is charming with a fantastic restaurant in the square as well as a pizzeria/cafe. We were well situated to explore the nearby villages and even took a day trip to Cassis and the Calanques. One week was definitely not enough so we very much hope a return trip will be in our future!

Wonderful property in beautiful Provence!

Such a lovely house in a beautiful area! It is tastefully designed, cozy and comfortable, and we can't think of any amenities that were missing. Vaugines is centrally located to explore the region of Provence we were most interested in seeing, and the village itself was a gem with a fantastic restaurant across from the fountain in the small square. Both the owner and the onsite manager were very friendly and helpful, which was much appreciated. We highly recommend this property and hope to return again ourselves one day.

Brilliant house and location

This was our second time visiting the Luberon region but our first trip to the 'south' side. We found the location to be an ideal base for exploring the surrounding villages and countryside. We had a great time discovering Vaugines, Lourmarin, Cucuron and Ansouis in particular, and spent a wonderful day in Cassis swimming in the Med.

The house itself surpassed our expectations. It is beautifully designed, so well equipped, and we felt at home immediately. Our favourite part of the day was unwinding on the terrace with a glass of wine to enjoy watching the sunsets, which were fabulous.

The owner was friendly and helpful, offering many suggestions for day trips which were greatly appreciated.

We would most certainly recommend this property to our friends and family, and would love to return again one day ourselves.

Perfect in every way!

The house was beautiful and luxuriously comfortable! The location couldn't have been better. The house was in the quiet and relaxing village of Vaugines, but was a very short drive from many of the most beautiful villages in Provence. Lourmarin was only a 5 minute drive away where there were numerous restaurants and shops. The chateau in Lourmarin was definitely worth seeing and we even attended a concert there. The best part--the magnificent views from the house! It was an idyllic Provence vacation and the house had every convenience and luxury we could have hoped for! Thank you!

A terrific family holiday

Our family was seven in number spanning three generations, and this house was exactly as we all hoped it would be. It is just beautiful. It felt wonderfully homey from the moment we arrived. The views are incredible and the location ideal. We enjoyed the large selection of board games as well as some outdoor pool side games. The kitchen was one of the most well equipped we have seen in a vacation rental which made cooking a pleasure - and the fresh herbs growing on the terrace were a welcome bonus! We spent almost an equal number of days relaxing and enjoying the house and pool as we did exploring the surrounding area. In hindsight a week was too short and we all wished we could have stayed longer. If we have the opportunity to return to this area in the future, we would stay here again without question.

A Wonderful Week

Amy, I am SO sorry not to have written sooner...but just to say we had an absolutely wonderful week in your house.  I can’t think of anything to improve…house is perfect, views to die for and delicious croissants on the doorstep. It really was a brilliant house, beautifully decorated and full of every utensil you could need, as easy as being at home but much sunnier & without all our clutter. Your welcome pack folder was so comprehensive and very useful, particularly all the restaurant suggestions.  We ended up having a simple but perfectly nice pizza the first night in the village square and discovered the boules court in the village when we visited the touring circus...can’t remember if you mentioned that in there?  

Christel was very efficient and helpful too.  

Thank you again for your help in our booking. It was the first time I have booked via VRBO, and I’m so glad we did, but more importantly am so glad we found your house!
