La Grange is close to the centre of Tremolat and the grocery store, bar and restaurants yet there are views of open countryside and hills from the garden and pool.
The property is properly adapted for wheelchair use, if required, with a “wet floor” shower, and wide doors.
On the Ground Floor is the fully fitted kitchen and the open plan sitting and dining area, seating eight or more with British or French TV, video and toys etc. Also on the Ground Floor is a wheelchair friendly twin bedded room with the shower and toilet, and a double bedded room. On the First Floor is one twin bedded room, a second sitting area and the second shower and toilet. A stair ladder leads to the galleried twin bedded Second Floor, beloved of children and teenagers.
The sitting area accesses the terrace, with BBQ and teak dining table and chairs, and garden which is for your exclusive use; and a gate leads directly to the secure private pool area.
This is am ideal location for a nice relaxing holiday. The village has some nice restaurants and is right near the river. The barn was lovely and well equipped. We cant wait to come back. The owners were really friendly and helpful too
Tremolat is a peaceful, quiet village a few hundred yards from one of the slower stretches of the Dordogne River. There are a couple of restaurants – one upmarket, the other a bar/pizzaria – and a small shop, also a bakery just a few doors down from the Barn. There are a couple of large supermarkets within 20 minutes drive.
The village is well placed for many of the attractions along the river with Beynac and Castelnaud about 40 minutes drive away and Sarlat an hour. The area is good for walking and cycling with plenty of well marked trails and quiet lanes. There's a small canoe hire business on the river about 10 minutes walk but the river is slack here so not very exciting – you can get them to drop you off upstream where it's faster and more fun but it's a long paddle back.
The barn itself is comfortable with good wheelchair access and two bedrooms on the ground floor, one with an en-suite large walk-in toilet and shower-room – good for disabled users. The other shower/loo and bedrooms are upstairs along with a second lounge – ideal for older kids to make theirs! We arranged internet access and there's Satellite TV.
The kitchen/dining area is well stocked and the lounge area comfortable. There's plenty of leaflets and maps for local information and when we were there the hosts were on hand with very helpful additional information and tips to make our stay more pleasant. The garden was big enough for small children to enjoy but small enough to keep an eye on them and the pool area is fenced and gated for safety. The pool and decking area is big enough for a good sized family and is shared with the other apartments. It was nice and clean and a great place to sit in the sun with a book. We stayed in September and while the weather was still warm, the pool was a bit on the cold side making a dip 'invigorating'.
All in all, I'd say the description is pretty accurate and it's a nice place to stay if you want a laid-back, peaceful break.
Insgesamt stimmte alles. Thank you, Eliz! You are wonderful and we had a fantastic time in Tremolat!
The picturesque and friendly village of Tremolat is in the heart of the Dordogne, described by many as 'paradise on earth'. The old village was the setting for the classic Claude Chabrol film 'Le Boucher'. 'La Grange' is a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre with restaurants, the bar, the bakery, a well-stocked minimarket and in the summer often extra activities such as the evening 'Marché Gourmand', when tables and benches are set out in the square for a communal outdoor meal.
The Dordogne River is a short walk from the property with many activities available including tennis, canoe hire and water-skiing. Further on up the hill is the renowned panoramic view of the ‘Cingle de Tremolat’ (river meander).
Tremolat is an ideal base for visiting the sights of the Dordogne including chateaux, medieval towns and villages (including the world famous Sarlat), prehistoric caves, cliff-top castles, vineyards, local markets, etc. .
A perfect holiday setting for young and old, families, groups and couples!
