Guestbook comments from the manager

Not only is it in the most beautiful little hamlet along route 66, it has a large area of private river access and rocky beach. We put our beach chairs in the river and stayed all day. Another day we floated the river down and landed on our private little beach and the Devils Elbow River Safari picked the canoes and tubes up right there! We kept some kayaks to use off that beach. It is easy to paddle up stream. We liked it so much we came back early this spring for a totally different experience. With the leaves still off the trees, we could hike and climb all over the national forest. We found a cave that the owner of the Elbow Inn directed us to. On other days we just sat on the porch and read while the kids played hide and seek in the giant yard. They could also walk, safely, to the little store and post office to buy a trinket or mail a letter. Next, we are going to come for the fall. Can't wait. We were a large group and we put two people in each bed (one queen and two full) plus someone slept on the couch. That still didn't meet our group's size so we rented one of the other houses in the area. Everyone had a blast.

We loved the property. Being near the river was wonderful. Our weather was beautiful.

  • 4 of 5

The deck was awesome. Nice to have a covered area and then the open area. I was disappointed there was no ramp, for those that can not do stairs easily. The house was great, it fit our needs. The kitchen had what seemed to be all new appliances. The beds were comfortable. Seemed to have anything we could need for preparing meals in the kitchen. Step stools, iron and ironing board, and some of the little things you don't realize you need until they are not there. I really hope we can return there some time in the near future.

Now the only things that could make it way more enjoyable would be a couple of chaise lounge chairs or hammock to relax on the deck. I so wanted to stretch out and nap with the wonderful weather we had. Then just one thing that might make it more safe for parents and also something nice to help those with animals they would like to leave on the deck for a bit. If possible a gate of some kind at the steps. Those are just bonuses. It was fine and we kept control of our dogs but, each day the neighbors would look for their German Shepard and once he was down by where the guys were fishing.

Nothing wrong though with our stay there. We had our son's friend and his family over Friday night after the graduation ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood. We sat outside and visited and enjoyed the weather.

Thank you for letting us stay, with our dogs!

Nice and cozy!

  • 4 of 5

I asked many questions. Shane was always nice with fast replies and I appreciated that. Shane also addressed any concerns I had and gave us a great deal. We were also allowed to come to the property early! The property is nice and clean. We were allowed to bring our 3 medium sized dogs and we made sure to keep the property that way. The river was up from the rain but we did catch/release some decent sized bass( 10"-14") which was pretty good as we didn't expect to catch anything due to the increased current in the river from the rain. There are bridges and roads to hike. Each day we went out we discovered something new. We plan on coming back in the summer!

Thank you Shane!

Perfect River Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My son goes to college at Rolla so we rented this house for the weekend. Everything was perfect. House had everything that you needed and was very clean. We rented tubes and floated one day and visited some caves. Wonderful family time.

Would love to come back.

My dog and I stayed there for couple of weeks in late September, early October. It was perfect for us..private..large yard...gravel bar for the canoe and kayak. The house had everything we needed. I use an outfitter upstream so it was easy to float on Piney and get back to the house. I plan on renting it again...probably this summer/fall.
