Welcome to our comfortable getaway just a short stroll from the ocean's edge in New Smyrna Beach and only a 10-minute walk from a supermarket, restaurants and stores. Walk or drive to Flagler Avenue for its funky shops and nightlife.
Guests have plenty of room to spread out in the newly renovated 1,010-square-foot of living space, with free wireless internet, central air/heat, ceiling fans in each bedroom and a new screened porch. You'll find everything they need to feel at home. The house is one level, with only one low step at entry doorways. It's a dog-friendly home, with new ceramic tiling and a fenced and shaded backyard. Please contact us about bringing a dog; prior approval is necessary and there is an additional fee. Sorry, but no cats are allowed. Two adult-sized bicycles and one medium-sized child's bike are available upon advance request.
Located in a quiet residential area, the home is close to New Smyrna's attractions but secluded enough to hear the ocean's waves at night.
The living room has comfortable seating, a big-screen cable TV, a DVD player and selection of DVDs, books, cards and board games. The roomy kitchen and adjacent dining room, with seating for six, make it easy to prepare food and gather for meals or for board games. You bring the food and we'll supply everything else: dishes, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, condiments, cleaning supplies, a dishwasher and small and large appliances. A wide counter with two barstools separates the kitchen from the dining room.
This house has an attached carport and an indoor laundry room with washer, dryer and utility sink. The bathroom has a tub with shower, plus basic toiletries and a hair dryer. An outdoor shower makes it easy to wash off sand from the beach. All linens, bath towels and beach towels are provided, as are a beach umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards and beach toys. An ironing board and iron also are provided.
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed, cable TV, and an antique desk that converts to a lit vanity table. The second bedroom has twin beds plus an Ikea chair that folds out to a cot if needed for a child.
A favorite spot at day's end is the roomy screened porch off the dining room, which overlooks the shaded backyard and its large bay oak trees.
A short boardwalk at the end of the street takes you over the dunes to the ocean's edge. Or, if you want, you can pack surfboards, boogie boards, fishing poles, picnic lunch and other gear in the car and drive right onto our smooth-surfaced beach from the nearby Third Avenue or Flagler Avenue beach entrances ($10 daily fee). The beach has a gentle incline into the water, making it easy to wade, swim or ride the waves.
Ray and Geri Throne moved to Central Florida from the Northeast over 40 years ago and have never regretted it. Geri, a journalist and writer, spent her childhood summers at the Jersey Shore and never outgrew her passion for the ocean. Ray is a financial advisor and an avid fishing enthusiast. They both appreciate the freedom that Florida's climate provides for enjoying the outdoors.
Geri Throne purchased this house in 1985
New Smyrna is a laid-back beach town with wide, gently-sloping beaches and ample charm and history. Ray and Geri feel lucky to have found this house. They love its restful atmosphere and location near the water and the heart of town.
The house is close enough to the beach to return for food or drink without missing more than a few minutes of sun and surf. An unexpected bonus has been its tranquil backyard, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Its large scrub oak trees, bent over by the ocean's steady breezes, shade the yard and attract flocks of birds.
Very cozy and comfortable house with a quite neighborhood. Everything you could need is there. All you need is your own food. We had a great time and really felt at home. Couldn't ask for anymore. Just a few steps to the beach. Located close to many history sites and attractions. I really hated to leave. Look forward to staying there again in the future. We went to Cape Canaveral saw some manatees at Mosquito Lagoon and St. Augustine where went to a fort. We went on a river ride on a small boat and saw many dolphins. In between Cape Canaveral and New Smyrna we went the Warbird Museum(awesome) and the Police Hall of Fame ( very moving and breathtaking). Lots of things to do besides the other attractions in Central Florida just a few miles away.
The house is very clean and maintained. 2 bedrooms with a dining room and screened porch, yard and carport. All the amenities washer and dryer, dishwasher, grill , coffeepot and Wi-Fi. Loved the house. Don't forget to go to some of the best restaurants like the Lost Lagoon and Blackbeard's Inn.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the beach house. The location is just perfect in NSB. Distance to the beach is an easy minute walk just across the street. I got up every morning and walked a few miles and felt very comfortable in the neighborhood. The house is very comfortable and relaxing. The house felt like home and we especially enjoyed having the washer & dryer. Our dog, Sam, enjoyed playing in the back yard which is fully fenced and secure. Thank you for letting us bring Sam.
The beach house was perfect for my family. The house is very clean and just the right size for a family of 5. This was my second year staying here and unless my family out grows the house I am sure I will be back next year. Thank you Geri for sharing your beach house!
We enjoyed our stay at the Beachwalk House. It was the center of our family vacation. The location was a perfect fit for visiting family in the surrounding areas. We walked to beautiful New Smyrna Beach every day, and enjoyed the water, sand, and sun! We made outings to several parks and area attractions, and at the end of each day, came back to our cozy and comfortable beachouse. It was such a relaxing vacation and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. It was everything we had hoped it would be!
I had a terrific stay at the Beach Walk House! It was clean, very well appointed, great location, very comfortable. I enjoyed it so much that I attempted to rent it again next February only to find that it is already booked. The location is perfect for exploring wildlife and the city of New Smyrna Beach is a charming little downtown. Hope to stay again someday!
We really enjoyed our stay.....so near to everything, yet quiet as well. The house was neat and tidy and provided all the comforts of home plus some. Very thoughtful owners have made it a very enjoyable place. A short walk to the beach and also to the shops! Thanks for a relaxing time!

Visitors can learn about the city's historic legacy as one of the oldest settlements in North America at the New Smyrna Museum of History. Visitors in the spring and summer can head for the beach at dark to look for giant sea turtles laying their eggs and hatchlings scurrying to the sea. At the north end of the island is pet-friendly Smyrna Dunes Park on Ponce Inlet. Just south of the city are the quiet beaches of Canaveral National Seashore, a 57,000-acre pristine park set between the ocean and the Indian River. Indian River Lagoon Park offers a scenic trail and fishing dock on the banks of the Indian River.
Day trips abound. It takes little more than an hour to reach Orlando's theme parks, including Sea World, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World. Historic St. Augustine and Kennedy Space Center are an hour's drive away. Only 20 minutes away is Daytona Beach and its famous Speedway.
About 35 minutes away are cool spring waters where you can swim, snorkel and scuba dive: Blue Spring State Park, where manatees gather in the winter, and DeLeon Springs State Park, where a rustic restaurant lets you cook your pancakes on a table grill.
