About Marshall Cannon

I actually grew up in this home. So, I'm very familiar with every aspect of this home and the area. Akron was home for me for nearly 20 years. The neighborhood has several families who have lived here for over 30 years. You will feel comfortable and safe in this home and maybe even make some new friends. I currently reside in San Francisco, CA. My wife and I hope to enjoy the home ourselves during visits to Akron with our new baby girl. This will allow us to have our own space when visiting family and friends.

Why Marshall Cannon chose Akron

This property makes a small home into a perfect weekend or personal hotel-like experience. Three bedrooms that are uniquely appointed with quality materials. The beds are firm for better back support, and the kitchen is fully featured. I will say that you might be underwhelmed when you see the exterior, but once inside, you will be very impressed. From the flat screen televisions to the remodeled details on the interior including the wall art in the living room. I'm sure you'll leave with new ideas that you may want to incorporate into your own home.

What makes this house unique

The kitchen and bathrooms are so well thought out that you should feel like cooking everyday and getting a spa treatment. It doesn't have a jacuzzi feature in the tub, but the design of the bathroom is unique and absolutely gorgeous!

Great vacation home for a great price

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were in Ohio to run the Towpath 10k and Marathon located a convenient 20 miles from this wonderful home. 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, very cozy living room, and let's not forget the kitchen which was my favorite part of the house. The kitchen is well stocked for anything that you may need to do some serious home cooking, can't do that in a hotel. 2nd bathroom is located in the basement with a soaking tub and a separate shower, the washer and dryer is located in the basement as well. Basement is a work in progress, can't wait to see what the additions will be. Plenty of driveway parking. The combination lock and security system is a nice feature. Maybe an outside charcoal or gas grill in the future? Never a bad time to cook out. We had a wonderful time, we will be back! Marshall's an awesome host. Thanks for letting us stay. Highly recommended!

Warm, inviting, updated home!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for the NFL Hall of Fame weekend and it was exactly what we needed. The recently completed 2nd bathroom in the basement was very useful. House is just as portrayed in the pictures. Inside is fully renovated. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals there. The house is located less than a mile off the highway so it was very accessible. Highly recommend!

The house in Akron is an older one that has been updated with new cabinets and appliances in the kitchen and bath. The basement is a work in progress but since renters only need access to the laundry facilities this is not an issue. The stairs to basement do need a handrail but hopefully that will come as work progresses.

The heating/cooling system is very effective. Only complaint I have is the control which I understand is called NEST but was unfamiliar to me. So I don't know if I was setting temperature control correctly. The TV in the kitchen was great after we determined that its controller had been switched with the living room one. We never were able to get the living room TV to find any channels. But that may be due to our lack of experience with the system.

The access key pad was great. An issue we had with the bath basin drain was quickly resolved by the local management contact. Although information says the house can sleep 8 (with sleeping bags brought by tenant) the kitchen only seats four. This may be an issue if renter brings more than four people.

Owner's Response: We are thankful for honest reviewers and the opportunity to continually improve our property. The home's basement will hopefully be completed in the coming months to provide additional amenities and space for our guests. The laundry area is accessible as mentioned. One important note as of July 23, 2016, we have added a second full bathroom in the basement. We will post pictures within the next week. So, more improvements to come. And yes, once all of the construction is complete, a handrail will be added to the basement stairway.

Perfect Visit

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of people stay to attend a wedding in the area. We saved lots of money on a hotel and it was a very enjoyable experience. We used the kitchen to make a large breakfast that turned out wonderful. All of the appliances are newer and the kitchen is stocked with cookware. Would definitely try to book again if needing to stay in the same area.

Akron /ˈækrən/ is the fifth largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Summit County. It is located in the Great Lakes region approximately 39 miles (63 km) south of Lake Erie along the Little Cuyahoga River. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 199,110.[5] The Akron, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) covers Summit and Portage counties, and in 2010 had a population of 703,200.[5] Akron is also part of the larger Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area, which in 2010 had a population of 3,515,646.

Akron was co-founded in 1825 when suggested by Paul Williams to Simon Perkins. In 1833, 'South' was temporarily added to the name when Eliakim Crosby settled a bordering North Akron.[6] After Summit County formed from portions of Portage, Medina, and Stark counties in 1840, Akron succeeded Cuyahoga Falls as county seat a year later. The Akron School Law of 1847 created the K-12 system.[7] In 1851, Sojourner Truth attended a convention and extemporaneously delivered the original 'Ain't I a Woman?' speech. During the Civil War, Ferdinand Schumacher supplied the Union Army with oats produced by his mill along the Ohio Canal. Between the 1870s and World War I, numerous churches across the nation were built using the Akron Plan.[8][9]

With a population increase of 201.8% during the 1910s, it became the nation's fastest growing city due to industries such as the stoneware, sanitary sewer, fishing tackle, farming equipment, match, toy, and rubber.[10][11] The companies General Tire, Goodrich, Firestone, and Goodyear built headquarters, but only the latter remains. Airships, blimps, dirigibles, and zeppelins have been manufactured at the Goodyear Airdock since World War II. The Goodyear Polymer and National Polymer Innovation Centers are on the University of Akron campus which anchors the Polymer Valley and is home to the Archives of the History of American Psychology. Akron also headquartered the National Marble Tournament, Professional Bowlers Association, and Women's Professional Mud Wrestling.[12] Home to employers such as Summa, GOJO Industries, FirstMerit Bank, and FirstEnergy, it is listed by Newsweek as one of ten Information Age high tech havens.[13] Awarded by the National Civic League and National Arbor Day Foundation, it was named one of the world's most livable cities.[14] The All-American Soapbox Derby, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, National Hamburger Festival, Founders Day (Alcoholics Anonymous), and Road Runner Akron Marathon are annually hosted by the city which is a venue for some events of the 2014 Gay Games. Tourist attractions include Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, and Lock 3 Park where the American Marble & Toy Manufacturing Company once stood.

Residents of Akron are referred to as 'Akronites'. Nicknames include 'Rubber City', 'City of Invention', and the more historical 'Rubber Capital of the World'. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

From our property you have easy access to all of these attractions including being less than ten minutes away from the John Brown Home. The area is not a primary junction for shopping, but it is a family neighborhood.
