May's Garden Cottage was added in the early 1920s to the main house ( built in 1880) as the Mother-in-Law's wing. We authentically restored and updated it in 2014 and it now offers guests casually luxurious lodging. May's Garden Cottage has a private entrance and cozy seating area of its own that faces the full garden. Perfect for one or two guests or up to four, when we add the second queen bedroom. May's is priced at $140-$155 midweek-weekends per night as a one bedroom; $160-$175 as a two bedroom. (Ask owner for Short Term Rental rates of 7+ nights). The cottage has a comfortable open plan queen bedroom- living room with gas log fireplace, well equipped full kitchen, Jacuzzi tub for two with shower and Spa robes. Plus there is the second queen bedroom that opens onto the garden for guests when needed. Updated with central heat & air, ceiling fans, Comcast cable TV in both bedrooms and WiFi. We are child and pet friendly. Off-street parking is steps away from your cottage. A daily breakfast basket is delivered to your door and you have complimentary coffee & tea in your kitchen. Complete with iron & ironing board, hair dryer and bath amenities.
I am a former Dallas advertising executive who fled the big city and returned home to a smaller, more charming city where my parents, sisters, and extended family still lived. I wanted to be part of the reclamation of the historic neighborhoods where I was born and lived as a child.
Susan Maddox purchased this cottage in 1992
I was enchanted by the charm of this farmhouse built by a "gentleman farmer" in 1880. It sits on a large wooded lot in the center of historic Downtown Little Rock. There is a vibrant urban neighborhood surrounding the property but the trees, garden and set-back buffer sounds making it the best of both worlds. This wonderfully built house has natural sound barriers and private entrances making it perfect as both an Inn and cottages.
Rosemont is on a quiet street with sidewalks and ancient trees but only four blocks from SoMa ... South Main District ... with restaurants, bars, shops, even an ice cream parlor, museum and sculpture garden.
You do know how to "make pretty", and not just pretty but warm and comfortable as well. Best place we've ever stayed on a business trip. Thank you!
The pictures do not do the Hayward Cottage justice! The cottage is cozy, comfortable, warm and inviting. The pictures online were beautiful but the cottage itself is amazing. It was so much more than we were expecting. I traveled alone with my 14 year old daughter and she cant wait to come back. I would recommend Rosehaven Cottages to anyone along with the Rosemont B & B. Susan is such a delight!
We had a wonderful three night stay at Barkley Cottage. We met my parents here for my mother's 75th birthday. It is such a nice home away from home. We loved the beautiful hardwood floors, antique furniture, and very comfortable beds. It is very close to good restaurants plus we could sleep in, wake up and enjoy coffee while cooking a nice breakfast in the kitchen. We had a lovely time. My mother really enjoyed herself. Thank you again for such a great place to stay!
I love staying at bed and breakfasts so I really wanted to like this place. The room is very nice, with cute furniture and high quality linens. My two big problems though:
1. The bathroom...is very outdated. No shower at all, and the nozzle for "showering" kept popping off and exploding water all over the bathroom. The sink is one of those one of those awful deals where you either got only cold water or very hot water.
2. Breakfast...we had been informed they would leave breakfast between 9 and 9:30. When breakfast hadn't arrived by 9:20 we decided to run to the farmer's market and eat when we returned. Got back less than half an hour later...no breakfast. The owner told me very abruptly that it had been "thrown away."
To be fair the breakfast we did receive on Sunday was very tasty, but the snotty response was not really appreciated.
So to sum up, good location and probably fine for most people as long as you don't want a hot shower!
We appreciated being able to bring the dog
I can't say enough positive things about staying at Susan's beautiful home, Rosemont Inn and cottages. The rooms are spotless, beautifully decorated, and the attention to detail makes the experience very special - from the high quality linens and bedding to the warm cozy robes, from the delicious breakfast to the coffee and treats available, the attention to detail makes staying at Rosemont a very special experience. I had such a wonderful time when I stayed in November, I returned again to stay in the Gardener's cottage and extended my stay to enjoy an extra day there. It is such a nurturing and beautiful place. I know I will be back next time I'm in Little Rock. An added plus is the location. It's in a neighborhood filled with lovely older homes and a couple of blocks away are great restaurants- too many to mention, quirky interesting shops (I bought all of my gifts at The Green Corner Store and had the best coffee at Mug's Cafe). All in all a truly memorable experience.
In the center of Downtown Little Rock, 5 blocks off of I-630, walking distance from SoMa (South Main) - this is our guests' favorite place to visit over and over again. There is even an Ice Cream Parlor! We are 5 minutes by car from the River Market and Clinton Presidential Library, Central High Museum, Robinson Auditorium, Verizon Arena, restaurants, clubs, and shopping. Minutes from business and medical districts.
