Welcome to Cook Hale, your tranquil escape to Ha'ena on the north shore of Kauai. Ha'ena is home to some of the best beaches and most beautiful scenery in the world. Cook Hale is conveniently located near tunnels and across the street from a footpath that leads 200 meters to a beautiful sandy beach. Come back from the beach and relax on the huge lanai facing the preserve while listening to the birds singing!
New to the rental market, Cook Hale has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, dining, and living room all on the second level. The open floor plan, opening onto the lanai, all facing the wooded preserve and mountains, takes full advantage of the property's setting. This private retreat is tucked away on a 12,000+ sf lot, and has covered parking for two cars underneath. There is also laundry, storage, and barbeque on the ground level.
Tunnels beach is 1/2 mile away. Tunnels is known to have world class snorkeling when it's calm, and world class surfing when it's not! Mediterranean Gourmet is even closer with great food and entertainment. The Napali coast is less than two miles away with incredible hiking and waterfalls. Several dining, shopping, and entertainment options are also available in historic Hanalei, just about 6 miles away.
Comfortable house, serene setting, walk to beach, close to creature comforts and outdoor adventures alike; this house is sure to please!

Emergency on island contact:
Ha'ena is truly a tropical paradise, with everything you need within a short walk or drive. I love having the feeling of seclusion the home has, facing the preserve, but not having to walk down Kuhio Hwy to get to the beach, because of the proximity to the path.
Great communication from the owner. We found the house to be clean and comfortable. Very convenient access to the beach via a path right across the street. Walking (or bike riding) distance to Tunnels, Ke'e, and Kalalau trail. The property has bikes, snorkeling gear, beach towels, umbrellas, boogie board, and etc. all ready to use. Working washer and drier. Clean kitchen stocked with dishes and everything you need to cook. Private lanai opening up to the preserve out back. A very peaceful stay. I would highly recommend Cook Hale
We had a family reunion (5 adults) at Cook Hale and can not say enough good things about this property!
Terrific location as has been mentioned by other reviewers - easy short walk to a very quiet and lovely beach. We had almost all of our meals at "home" and the kitchen is amazingly well-stocked with pots, pans, plates, glasses etc. The grounds on the property are beautiful which only adds to the laid-back relax feel of the house itself. The owner is very responsive and the the person in charge of cleaning/preparing the house did a terrific job. Not only would we stay here again, if we were coming back we wouldn't bother to look any further than this gem on the North Shore!!
I stayed in the Cook Hale in a group of nine: three couples with three babies. It was an awesome place in almost every way: excellent location in easy walking distance to the beach (though the closest part of the coast is better for bodysurfing than swimming), giant porch for leisurely meals, well-stocked kitchen for prepping those meals. It's also in easy striking distance of Hanalei and the Kalalau trail, and the woman who looked after the rental, Mel, was super nice and relaxed.
Only issue we had is that one of the bedrooms is separated from the living room only by an accordion wall, so sound was a bit of an issue with young babies.
All told, though, a great rental.
We really enjoyed our stay at the property. The house was perfect for our family. The morning coffee on the Lanai was very peaceful; lush garden, birds singing and a smooth breeze were au rendez-vous every morning. We love our 4 paws greeter, Shadow, the cool cat. The local beaches are gorgeous. You do not need to go far to find the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of the island. Tunnel's Beach was our favorite, only a 10 minutes' walk. We were appreciative to have in our disposition beach chairs, beach towels and bikes. The only downfall was that you are far away from major shopping area so plan on stocking goods at Costco and Walmart next to the airport before heading to the North of the island. We found cool small local shops and places to eat in Hanalei and Kapaa. North Coast of Kauai is the place to be if your are looking for a relaxing, tranquil and serene atmosphere. Aloha and Mahalo from the Molenda Family.
Such a great spot, with everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxed week. Quick, easy walk to the beach, 10 minute drive to Hanalei, very laid-back feel, responsive owner and caretaker, perfect lanai for communing with the roosters and the occasional passing cows and horses. Just right.

Kalalau Trail, Napali Coast, wet and dry caves, and botanical gardens are less than 2 miles away. The beach is about 600 ft. down a foot path that starts across the street. Less than half a mile from Tunnel's in one direction or Mediterranean Gourmet in the other direction. Conveniently located near Hanalei bay with many shopping and dining options, including farmers market, shaved ice etc.
