Need to recharge one's batteries!!!

Website needs correcting to make clear that the beautiful villa in the main photo is where the owners live, the rental being a nice compact annexe attached to the far end of the villa, away from the pool, which is unfenced and uncovered, so would not be safe for young children. It should also be spelled out that the owners charge extra for bedlinen and towels, although these can be purchased more cheaply from the SuperU at nearby Port-La-Nouvelle! Note also that the sitting area and one of the bedrooms are upstairs and the only toilet is downstairs. The stairs are steep, with unusually shallow treads - I had to walk down sideways - unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The aircon downstairs was quiet and very effective, the portable unit upstairs was also perfectly adequate, although noisy!

Nonetheless, Bernard and Nathalie were lovely, made us very welcome and clearly wanted us to have a good holiday. The superb swimming pool was warm on our arrival, but quickly cooled off when the wind got up. The proliferation of wind turbines in the area, and the windswept angle of many of the trees, suggest that it is often very windy there outside of the summer season - we were there in September - although it was hot and calm when we arrived, as we were assured it had been all summer.

We slept very well on the comfortable foam mattresses, with perfect blackout achieved by the electric external roller blinds on all the windows. The kitchen was modern and well equipped (although lacking an electric kettle and toaster), with two large fridge-freezers, and with 2 free bottles of water provided.

We had very enjoyable outings to the ancient walled 'city' of Minerve, the gorgeous sandy beach nearby at La Franqui, and the Yellow Train up into the mountains from Villefranche-de-Conflent. We also enjoyed strolling down to La Palme each morning for delicious bread and other provisions, and relaxing at the property. Excellent location!
