Los Feliz is a beautiful upscale Los Angeles neighborhood. It is eclectic, artistic, cool, and lively. Trader Joe’s and Gelson’s are a few blocks away on Hyperion near Rowena along with many nice restaurants and shops. The fabulous cafes and boutiques on Vermont and Hillhurst are less than a mile away.
The nearby Silver Lake Reservoir is an excellent spot for a morning jog or evening stroll.
Griffith Park is a quick drive up the road and great for hiking and visiting the Griffith Observatory.
The House is 1.3 miles from the Vermont/ Sunset Metro Red Line (subway) station which connects Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Here you can catch the Flyaway bus to LAX.

If you choose not to rent a car you can use Lyft or Uber to get around easily and affordably.
As a journalist originally from Germany I've traveled the world and collected many wonderful experiences along the way but am always happy returning to Los Angeles, my home for the past 25 years. I have written several travel guides about Los Angeles and can help leisure travelers to experience the city offering tips and locations many people don’t get to see.
Recently I have discovered a new passion creating mosaic artwork. Don’t be surprised to find me in the backyard working on a project with hundreds of little pieces of tile.
I’ve always enjoyed entertaining guests at my home. It would be an honor to have you stay in our house. I look forward to meeting you.
Birgitt Steinberg purchased this house in 1996
Our time here was simply divine ! We relaxed by the gorgeous pool, enjoyed delicious breakfasts and our hosts were fantastic !! A great area and everything we could have hoped for ;) thank you !!!
The property is in amazing area and I have nothing but good things to say about the host and property itself !
I was very disappointed on the room I had received. I previously had a stay in this same house over a year ago and decided to book the same house but different room again for my one year anniversary. My fiancé and I arrive to the house to have the daughter Bridget place us in a TOTALLY different room downstairs. Which was NOT the one in the pictures at all and wasn't even upstairs. We only received notification on the so called "NEW" room we was residing in as we walked through the door at 9pm because of a guest who was from overseas had extended their stay for another week a day or two prior. I found disappointment in that because I had stayed in contact with the hosts DAYS before up until the very minutes of our arrival and they did not once notify me that the room was unavailable. The room we were forced to sleep in had a broken glass at the bottom of the window with bugs flying in the room, until my fiancé had to make a cover for the window. To make matters worst the next day the host of the house were having some type of gathering. We left early morning and when we came back later that night just to discover that our cover over the window had been removed. My fiance then had to take a piece of a cardboard box to tape over the window that way NO MORE bugs came into our room. We wasn't offered any money off our room or at least a chance to possibly change rooms. I felt as though I received unfair treatment and placement in the room for no reason or because they wanted to please another guest who had to stay longer (which wasn't our fault). The mother Ingrid was VERY SWEET and was not the one who placed us in the room. The daughter Bridget placed us there and BARELY explained to us why we had to use this room that was SMALLER than the one we originally booked, that came with NO connecting bathroom or balcony view. I really enjoyed the views outside of the house but couldn't help feeling as though I received unfair treatment. If you book through here be very weary of which room they CHOOSE to give you. I really respect Ingrid but my fiancé felt very offended that we were offered the LAST available room as we walked through the door. Even though i love and respect the mother I can not and will not take being picked over lightly. If you stay there please choose wisely and be careful of what you get...
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Birgitt's house in Los Feliz. The room was very comfortable and the views are magnificent. The house is surprisingly quiet despite its location on a fairly busy residential street. It is a couple of doors down from the Shakespeare Bridge, and a couple of minutes by car from the center of Los Feliz. Los Feliz is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Los Angeles. It is in a beautiful location, right next to Griffith Park, and close to everything. I find it refreshingly real and unpretentious, unlike some areas of Los Angeles.
My room was not the one shown in this photo, but I believe any room in the house would be nice. Birgitt and her mother were great hosts - there when you wanted to talk - but very respectful of your space and privacy. The pool area is lush and inviting and a beautiful place to hang out.
The best part was meeting the other guests. Interesting people from everywhere. I will stay there again.
I loved this upstairs room in a beautiful 1920's Spanish home with lots of historic charm, owned by friendly German women. Room includes lovely balcony with distant views. Bathroom was shared with one other person but it wasn't a problem. Delicious healthy breakfast with plenty to choose from The street is a bit noisy during the day but quiet at night. Nice experience!
Birgitte and Ingrid were wonderful hosts! The room was spacious and clean, the home is in a great, quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of the main area of Los Feliz. They had breakfast out every morning, and I enjoyed talking to Ingrid before starting my daily adventures. She and Birgitte are welcoming hosts. I would encourage everyone to stay with them.
