Make this gorgeous townhouse your home base for summer festivals, Berkshire- and Hudson Valley weddings, sports, shopping, and leaf peeping. 3 bed/3 full baths have cozy bright furnishings, sun-drenched nooks, and streams of sunlight. Shop, hike, antique, host brunch, or just read in front of the fireplace. We're a 5-min walk to the Amtrak and downtown Hudson (Warren Street), a 5-min drive to theaters and hiking trails, and 10-40 minutes to Coxsackie, Catskill, Athens, Woodstock, Saugerties, the Berkshires, and other amazing landscapes and communities.
This house has real historic value (built in 1740), but all spaces are newly renovated, freshly painted, delightfully decorated, and clean clean clean!!!
The front door broadcasts ease. We've replaced the key lock with a powerful digital deadbolt. Enter softly to original 18th century heart pine flooring and sweeping staircase. To the left: the fireplace room, with two generous chaise lounge chairs, lacquered tray table, vintage lambswool throw, and (soon) reclaimed wood bookshelves and desks. Through the doorway are the kitchen, first full bath, and dining and living rooms: each bright and clean. We've got a 50' TV and incredibly comfy sofa for couch potatoes, a rustic dining table surrounded by French chairs made by Ligne Roset, shiny new appliances (programmable coffeemaker, microwave, D/W, W/D, Riedel glasses).
This summer, we'll be building a firepit out back...and perhaps a hot tub, too. Stay tuned!
Upstairs, the master bedroom faces the quiet backyard. Sink into the super-firm handmade mattress, and either shut away the sunlight (curtains are made of blackout velvet), or awaken to morning light. There's a great walk-in closet leading to the master bath, with its curved rod, handheld rain shower, and bathtub. Lay out your things on the provided luggage rack.
The middle bedroom is very special, with a bird theme and a small patio all its own. The queen bed is brand new and very good for your back. Closets are great for keeping the wrinkles out of your dresses and suits, and we provide a luggage rack for your suitcases.
The hallway features local art (Earl is a fixture around here!). Down the hall is a room for kiddies and adults alike. Two single adults can comfortably sleep on these ultra-firm handmade XL twin mattresses...or put the kids here, in front of a rocking chair ideal for story time.
Please note that this is the owner's second home, and there are a few sparse owner's items that won't impede the renters' space and enjoyment of the home. Additionally, a cat stays on the premises about 3 weekends a year, so those extremely allergic might not want to book. We thoroughly wash all bedding & floors before & after every stay.
A third full bath sits in between the two bedrooms: clean and bright, with thirsty towels and amenities provided.
Hudson is marvelous. The antique shops draw designers from all over the eastern seaboard. Vintage shops and designers abound. The shopping and restaurants rival anything I've seen in Manhattan or Brooklyn: and I am a former food and travel critic for New York Magazine, so I know what I'm talking about! The people are similarly friendly and great: you really feel like part of this town after just a day.
The Amtrak station is four blocks away: straight shot north from Penn Station: two hours one way, and a beautiful ride. I'll provide a guide to restaurants and shops, and get you quickly acclimated to the area.
Seasoned host excited to welcome you to my new townhouse: a 1740 beauty that's been vibrantly decorated. I'll meet and greet you if possible. I'm also available by phone, and will get back to emails within a few minutes (unless overnight).
Jean Tang purchased this house in 2014
It's close to downtown, but away from Warren Street's summertime noise and bustle.
My family really enjoyed our 6-night stay during the Christmas holiday. Comfy beds, great heating (it was pretty cold this year..) and lots of space. If you opt to cook at the home the kitchen is perfect for it. The location couldn't be better as its in walking distance to Warren street.
Thanks for the accommodation!
Very nice house. It fit our needs perfectly.
Hudson is a cute town with lots to offer.
This house is walking distance to most restaurants/galleries.
Plenty of space, very clean. We had everything we needed. Great location for walking all over Hudson. Would definitely stay here again!
We were in town for a wedding and this house was perfect. Plenty of space, and 3 full bathrooms really helps when people are trying to get ready. Parking is easy, the door lock took a minute to figure out but it's much better than worrying about a key. Also, it's just a block from Warren so it's easy to walk. I'll probably never go back to Hudson, but if you have a trip there, this house is a great option.
Ideal location for exploring Warren Street, downtown, and a short walk to the river.
Six of stayed for 2 nights.
The kitchen is well equipped.
The showers work great.
The beds are comfortable.
There is cool art throughout.
Would definitely stay again.
This home is the best location in Hudson whether you have a car or not. Easy walk from the train station and then let the adventure begin! This was our first trip to Hudson and it exceeded our expectations. The annual Farm and Flea art and craft show is well worth the time to attend; not your typical "craft" show, so much more. Having easy access to shops and restaurants from this lovely home makes the trip enjoyable for everyone. The home design is perfect for a family gathering. Space for everyone whether card playing at the dining room table (chairs are amazing for long card games), snoozing by the fire, or watching football. Working with Jean is a delight, she is quick to respond and answer questions. Her recommendations for restaurants were appreciated. Enjoy Hudson and this perfect location!

This area is like a sophisticated, cultural Hamptons. You've got intelligent ruralism: a great farmer's market, eco-consciousness, smart design sensibilities. You've got a real sense of history: the area was settled in the mid-18th century. You've got nature: hiking, cycling, and boating as far as the eye can see (and we can recommend great spots for all). And then there's the urban splendor of Warren Street: world-class antiquing, vintage stores, new designers, and food so amazing that I'd pick Hudson over NYC in any restaurant showdown. The people are INCREDIBLY sweet: educated, generous, thoughtful. It's built to be an ideal weekend getaway for New Yorkers, Bostonians, New Englanders, and those from further afield!
