Lovely PNW Retreat
This is the best property we've ever rented. Period. We stayed for 5 weeks in Feb/March, and found this home revealed the natural environment--water, birds, trees--so beautifully. The home is well-supplied, with vintage (high quality) dishes, numerous pots and pans, baking dishes, and so on. We love to cook together, and this place was ready for us! Beds were comfy and there are plenty of towels/sheets. The quiet neighborhood nevertheless felt "lived in," while clearly occupied by mostly owners, so it felt like we were home, too. Whether we were walking the dogs, visiting the beach, exploring the area, or (most often) working via wifi from home, we had all we needed. The whole experience was supportive and even healing. While I imagine this is a fabulous place to spend an August weekend, we loved being here in the late winter. Let the PNW scenes reveal themselves to you--right outside the window! We are so grateful for having the opportunity to stay at this beautiful property!

Quiet stay, well appointed kitchen, beautiful view
We stayed here for a reset after Christmas. The property was lovely, with the fragrance from the blooming sweet box (Sarcococca confusa) smelling amazing and the weeping blue atlas cedar adding character. The house was well stocked, with a kitchen that made it easy to cook oyster stew and prepare peppermint cocoa. We really appreciated the extra blankets for protecting the furniture from the fur of our four-legged housemates. The area was so quiet and relaxing, it was the perfect basecamp for our excursions to Poulsbo. While we didn't see any marine mammals or submarines, we did see lots of different birds. Overall a wonderful time!

We are busy medical device professionals who are based in the California Bay Area. We spend our time in California, Washington, and the Mediterranean coast of Turkey when not traveling for work.

Why they chose this property

Living in the heart of Silicon Valley in California year-round, Edgewater Bluff provided us the much needed escape from the noise, the crowds, the daily hustle-bustle and the start-up company stress. For years, we did not feel the need to own a TV or have internet service. Simply sitting in the living room and looking out the window, reading a book or napping was very satisfying. We noticed that the clouds, the water on the hood canal, the reflection of the sun on the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, the colors and patterns changed constantly. With continuously moving wildlife, various small birds, bald eagles, occasional dolphins and seals or the naval vessels (yes, even a submarine), crab fishermen, University of Washington research vessels sailing by, we felt that we owned world’s largest “flat-screen”. We enjoyed the garden and its hundreds of species of flowers and plants lovingly and painstakingly maintained for many years. We entertained friends on the deck, sipping wine and enjoying the sunset. We no longer woke up to the sound of traffic under our window, but by a bald eagle flying by or seagulls teasing a goose. We did not realize it was so late when the sun stayed up past 10 p.m. during summer. We felt like we were in a different, relaxing, carefree world.
