The two bedrooms host 1 bedroom with queen bed & sitting room, and 2nd bedroom with a double. One bathroom has a deep tub & shower, 2nd bath with rain shower. Living room has queen fold-out couch, dining room and full kitchen nicely provisioned with all the cookware you could want. In the summer, enjoy the lovely back deck and yard with flowers and garden. Wheelchair ramp at the front door, but area rugs might be a problem for elders. New A/C unit installed in 2017 and new flat screen WiFi TV. The Hotel also boasts an art gallery of paintings by local artists inspired by our public lands.

About Liz Howell

I'm now retired as Exec Director and founder of the Wyoming Wilderness Association. I grew up in Denver, CO. I am now a practicing painter, birder, hiker and traveler as well as a landlady! My M.F.A. degree is from the University of Washington.

Why Liz Howell chose Sheridan

I wanted to provide a homey and arty experience for the travelers while visiting Sheridan. This updated 1910 house has a wonderful history and lots of privacy in a quiet neighborhood with lovely big yard and gardens. I live in the other half, well-closed off by curtains and french doors. Full kitchen is well-equipped. New WiFi TV and A/C unit installed in 2017.

What makes this house unique

I love Wyoming for its wildness. The Bighorn Mountains are only an hour away for fishing, hiking and camping. Sheridan is a super friendly town, small yet highly cultured. The WYO Theater brings wonderful events, musical, theatric and vital. The 20 miles of hiking/walking paths and parks in Sheridan are well developed. The Howell Hotel is located just 5 blocks from downtown restaurants, bars and shopping, and the very special SAGE Community Art Gallery. In the summer, Sheridan boasts a Farmers market every Thursday and the Third Thursday of every month is a great street festival with music, food and booths.

Spacious and convenient

I am so pleased to have stayed at the Howell Hotel. It was comfortable and well situated. Liz greeted me with a home-grown tomato when I checked in! While it's near downtown, when I was bringing in my suitcase in the late afternoon, i turned from my car to see a doe trotting down the sidewalk!

Quaint, Cozy, Quiet

We enjoyed the hominess of the place. It doesn't get too much natural light inside but we spent most of our time outside anyway.

Lots of nice art-work------mostly by Liz, the owner: we bought one of her watercolors.

Sheridan is a peaceful and very pleasant place to hang out. Try Frackelton's restaurant. Menu goes way beyond meat and potatoes and is prepared very well.

Great little quirky house in Sheridan

Enjoyed our stay at this cute little house. The two bedrooms were very comfortable, and the baths clean and towels plentiful and good quality. The kitchen was well stocked to the degree we were able to cook a full on meal for friends. Loved the patio and the grill. My only complaint would be that the living area is very dark as there are no windows in that space. Since we didn't spend much time at the house during the day though it wasn't a problem. Would stay again.

Rustic feel with tons of charm. A great way to experience Sheridan, WY.

My family had a wonderful stay at the property. We were all there to ride the MS 150 and were able to enjoy the comforts this property offered when we weren't on bicycles peddaling through Sheridan and surrounding communities. I would recommend this property to travelers as it feels like it is a piece of history and has a lot of personality.

Please no pets, unless the owner agrees, and no smoking in the premise. Check in at 2pm, Check out at 11:00am. Quiet time is respected from 11pm to 7am.
A fully equipped kitchen and all cooking necessities are provided. Just ask if you need anything and I will try to accommodate. Linens, bedding and towels are provided. There is a new air conditioner for summer escape and gas furnace for winter. No cable but a WiFi TV with DVD player is provided. WiFi is available.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
