About Ruth A Edwards

I grew up in a northern suburb of Philadelphia. I work in a small hospital in Philadelphia as an Operating room nurse. I have three grown children,a handsome 4 year old grandson and a grandaughter on the way! In April 2015 my fiance Tom and I will be getting married. I vacationed in New Smyrna Beach as a teenager and young adult.

Ruth A Edwards purchased this house in 2014

Why Ruth A Edwards chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

A native of Pennsylvania, I enjoyed living in New Smyrna Beach for 8 1/2 years while my children were growing up. I relocated to Pennsylvania 10 years ago to be near my aging parents, but frequently return to re-experience the charm of New Smyrna. While in Pennsylvania I met Tom, now my fiance, who became as enchanted as I with this fabulous island paradise. (New Smyrna Beach is one of the barrier islands of Florida's Atlantic coast.) We bought this cottage as our future retirement home. For now, we're happy to share it with you.

What makes this house unique

Escape the cold harsh winter; make your getaway to this tropical barrier island on Florida's Atlantic coast. Soak in the relaxed, laid back atmosphere for which this Southern artist community is famous. Take long, leisurely walks on the beach in the morning, swim laps in your private pool in the afternoon, ride bikes through the quiet neighborhood, and relax and enjoy a cocktail in your private hot tub in the evening. Grill dinner on the gas grill out back, or enjoy one of the many wonderful restaurants this town has to offer. Explore New Smyrna's legendary night life. There are so many options available.

Are you a piano player? We have a Yamaha upright piano for your enjoyment. Are you a golfer? Try one of New Smyrna's three golf courses. You might care to visit the charming shops on Flagler Avenue, or rent a motor scooter to explore the island, or try your luck at one of the tables on the Victory Casino Cruise ship. The possibilities are endless. One word of warning: you may never want to leave.

Wow, an amazing home!

  • 4 of 5

We had such a nice time at Miss Ruth's home. It was beautiful and the backyard with pool and spa was amazing. The beach was a quick 5 minute walk and was not crowded at all. I think we have found a gem on the East coast of Florida. I am already trying to convince my husband to let us go back in June since our trip was cut short by the hurricane. Thank you Ruth for opening up your home to us!

Tropical Oasis

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this house and it was everything promised! The house was very clean, inviting and pleasant, the perfect home away from home. My children loved the pool and we loved how close the house is to the beach. The pictures shown online are very accurate. We would definitely return if we are in the area again. The beach was not crowded and the sand was like powder! Again the amenities were wonderful, the kitchen was beyond well equipped, you could cook anything. Having access to a full size washer/dryer was so nice during a trip as well. I can't say enough nice things about this place. Truly a tropical oasis!

Great owner! Clean, cozy house with great location and backyard oasis!

  • 5 of 5

First off- Ruth, the owner, was a pleasure. She was very accommodating and made the booking process extremely easy and convenient for out last minute trip.

The house and lawn were recently updated and look great. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable with everything you'll need during your stay. (washer/dryer, grill, pool floats, chairs, beach toys, you name it!) I was pleasantly surprised that all of the bedding, linens, dishes/flatware, bathrooms etc. were all squeaky clean. Nothing puts a damper on your excitement like walking into a house where things don't look well kept- not to worry here!

The brand new pool, spa, and tropical backyard were superb! There's nothing quite like waking up and stumbling out into your gorgeous private backyard with a cocktail. (Don't judge me! This IS vacation after all! :-P ) The accent lighting was also a nice perk for night time swims. The included Yamaha upright piano was a HUGE bonus for me and really added to the trip- I loved playing and relaxing during our downtime (What good is a vacation without a couple storms? This is Florida!)

Location was great with grocery shopping no more than two minutes down A1A. The beach just two blocks away with plenty of parking available. Head north on A1A ten minutes and there are tons of restaurants to choose from, (The Mexican place on the corner is really good by the way) head south ten minutes and you have scenic hiking and pristine uninhabited beaches at Canaveral National Seashore and Turtle Mound. Green dunes and windswept terrain as far as the eye can see. Awesome!

The overall stay was great and would highly recommend it! A couple things worth noting (but this is really nit-picky, so take with a grain of salt). We got there around 10pm the day of check-in so we wanted to get the pool and spa going for the next day- not knowing how long it would take to heat. The pool/spa instructions can be a bit confusing and we thought we were doing something wrong as we could not get the spa to start warming. Fortunately the pool guy happened to clean the pool the next day and figured out the heater had to be activated on the side of the house before it would start heating. As it turns out the spa doesn't take long at all to heat and we were doing it correctly- just has to be turned on!

Super small detail here since when weather permits, you won't be watching much TV- but if nasty weather creeps up it would be nice to have a flatscreen TV to plug in a Roku/AppleTV/Chromecast.

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend at this property. The house was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Not on the beach but close enough to the beach. The owner was a delight to work with. The booking part was new to me and took some time to navigate but eventually it worked out. NSB is a great town, lots of good restaurants and other things to do. Nice, safe family area. Overall, the experience was excellent. I plan to rent this house again in the future, probably in the fall when school starts back and it is cooler.
