The cottage was adorable, we had everything we needed !! We were expecting a little more seclusion, houses close and had to put blanket on front door window, and we had side window shade up to see deer and someone came walking down, I like to walk around comfortable, with the pics we thought we were closer to water and no other houses around , wanted more privacy. The driveway was fine, no issues.
Comfortable and quiet, peaceful location. Unit was well provisioned, had absolutely no issues with my stay. Would highly recommend this location.
Jess and Sue made sure my stay was 5 stars out of 5. Both Jess and Sue were easy to contact and quick to respond to my questions.
I have shared this property with a couple friends and had a great experience. The only draw back is the stairs to the loft area.
Came to Ketchikan for a fishing trip with my two adults sons. We were fishing out of Knudson Cove Marina, about 12 miles north of the town of Ketchikan, and the home was conveniently located between the marina and town. As mentioned in previous reviews, it's a pretty steep, unpaved street/driveway. The weather was dry while we were there, but could be an issue on rainy days. The bungalow was very clean when we arrived and nicely decorated. Plenty of towels in the bathroom. Living room furniture and beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was adequate for our needs. Very nice view of the water and sunsets from the front windows and deck. Would definitely recommend for a single occupant or couple.
However, I would not recommend for families, especially with small children, or for groups that would need seniors to sleep up in the loft. The stairway is quite steep with rather odd shaped steps. My sons are in their 20's and athletic, and the stairway made them a little nervous. Also, they couldn't stand up straight because the ceilings in the loft are quite low. Lastly, I slept in the main floor bedroom. I'm only 5'8", but I hit my head pretty hard on the underside of the stairway when I got up during the night to use the bathroom.
I begin this review thoughts with the ugly (Dislikes) are first on my list We don't like to eat out much Therefore Cooking items area a huge part the reason We rent a home instead of hotels. Many needs to be replaced in the kitchen because the melted rubber dollar store brand tools aren't worthy of flipping frozen garlic bread I was very happy a toaster was provided. Upon my search more rusty cooking thongs and steak knives were not pleasing. The home was nicely decorated my option could use a few more however the dishes washer was full (clean/dirty) no way of knowing and items in the dryer upon arrival took relaxing feeling instantly away
Amenties Washer/Dryer, Hairdryer, blender, full size stove & fridge. Wal-Mart towels. Outside front deck great for a quick cup of tea. Queen bed downstairs is nice however we slept better on the fold down couch in living room. Price was high for the tidyness & reminder steep driveways are common in Ketchikan Alaska Yes this home has one. Staircase not senior nor child friendly. Loved seeing eagles from the Window front that overlooking the waters & float planes. We will not recommend this rental unless improvements are eastablished.
There is something for everybody in Ketchikan. If you are an adventurer we have Kayaking, zip lining, hiking, floatplane tours, Duck tours, plus Shopping for that just right Alaska gift can be found at the many unique shops in the downtown area.
Fisherman will be in heaven - Charter boats are available as well as the boat rentals for the do it yourselfers who are itching to try their hand at catching that record breaking Salmon or Halibut!
