About Ramaia Collins
Mary Carol Cabibi and Steven Gayle have been in love with the Hana area for more than twenty years. In 2016 they learned that Chris and Leokane Harrington-Pryor were interested in selling the Guest Houses at Malanai, and by April Mary Carol and Steve had become the new proprietors. They now live on the property with their family.
Ramaia Collins purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Ramaia Collins chose Hana
The previous owners purchased this property in 2001 and worked continuously to create a paradise for themselves, their family and friends. In 2005 they began to offer this unique experience to the public. The new proprietors have retained all of the staff, and have maintained all of the landscaping, amenities, and warm aloha that the Guest houses at Malanai have become famous for. Only two of the homes on the large property are available to the public. As one of only three legally permitted vacation rental properties in the area, The Guest Houses at Malanai are often booked months in advance and are well deserving of their consistent #1 rating and stellar reviews.
What makes this Cottage unique
The Guest Houses at Malanai are located in the Maka'alae area of Hana, about 3 miles south of Hana Town. This area is considered the most desirable of Hana due to its close proximity to world famous Hamoa Beach and the Venus Pool, as well as the gentle breezes and open landscape which keep it cooler and more comfortable than other locations in the area. Maka'alae was once the fishing village of the area and boasts some of the most breathtaking coastline of all Maui. During whale season, it is the perfect place to see their migration and sometimes even hear them playing at night. Our rental cottages are both situated in a completely private setting, amid glorious landscaping that has been lovingly nurtured by the previous owners for more than a decade. Great get away location!
You had what you needed without eating out every night.
A taste of old Hawaii
Exactly as described....beautiful, personable, and secluded. Kitchen very well stocked and the rooms were comfortable and lovely! Morning sunrises were spectacular. No AC so it got pretty warm and the blades on the fans really needed dusting. (Hate to think we were inhaling all of that!)
The Hale Ulu Lulu house is a classic historic Plantation style vacation rental. Part of the charm of the house are many genuine vintage pieces of furniture and amenities. The ceiling fan referred to in the review has the old style rattan blades and gathers dust within a few days due to the high humidity in Hana. The housekeepers clean the blades every week and now we see that they may need more frequent cleaning during more humid days. Since this review we have done a deep cleaning on the blades.
Slice of heaven
Wonderful! Couldn't have found a better place in Hana, so quiet and peaceful. Beautiful cottage with lovely decor. We shall return...
Ideal place for relaxation
We enjoyed the location. Having the privacy the grounds provide is nice. The house is well provisioned and the sheets are great.
The house was exactly as described and pictured. A quiet, secluded spot on the quiet side of Maui in Hana. We hope to be back someday!
