|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Enjoy all the fun and pleasures of being steps away from an uncrowded beach on the bay, yet close to attractions offered in nearby Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Our house is perfect for a family get away or quiet weekend at the beach.
We offer a beautiful living space that combines a kitchen and family room into an open two story sun drenched space. A large outdoor deck Our top floor master suite has a full bath and outdeck for gazing at the stars. A large second bedroom has two full size beds and a third bedroom sleeps two. A back screened in deck
Our family lives in Narberth, PA and we enjoy any time we can spend at the house in BKB. The activities we enjoy range from simple walks in the Primehook Preserve to a night out in Rehoboth Beach.
Greg purchased this house in 2012
We were attracted to the A-Frame design of the house and the generous window areas. The large open family room and kitchen/dining area that opens up on to the deck is a great space to relax or have fun in. The natural light in this room surrounds you and draws you into the room.
The family room is a large, bright two story space that is fun to hang out it. The master bedroom loft is a cozy nook and cranny space that has its own deck. There's hammock under the house for naps or relaxing. There's a great outdoor shower in the back.
We had a great stay in broadkill. Myself, my husband our 3 year old twins, my parents, and our two large dogs we absolutely comfortable in this house. It was in close proximity to the beach so the daily tasks of lugging your beach stuff to the beach wasn't horrible. The beach was not crowded at all. It was so nice not having the anxiety of overcrowded beaches and losing our children to think about. The flowers on the front deck were beautiful and all of us enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and butterflies throughout our stay. This was a beautiful house and we had a super relaxing vacation.
Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc?
Yes. There are 3 queen sized beds with blankets and pillows, but no linens (which was preferred for my family). The grill worked great. Plenty of beach supplies (chairs, boards, umbrella).
Was the property clean and well-maintained?
Yes, the house and property are clean and maintained.
Did the owner provide good customer service? Yes, Greg was easy to get in contact with.
Would you recommend this property to your friends or relatives? Yes.
What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike near by?
The beach is within sight of the driveway. The beach is private, so there are very few people there. There is no lifeguard, but you don't really need one. The waves are small to non-existent. We were able to relax and read a book/nap while the kids played in the water and in the sand (great sand for castles, BTW). Folks had their dogs on the beach, lit bonfires, and fired off fireworks just about every night. Overall, a very relaxing environment.
The closest business is a little general store. They have the bare essentials (milk, sand toys, coffee, snacks). I recommend their sticky buns on Tuesday mornings. There are no restaurants, bars, or coffee shops nearby. Lewes is about 20 minutes and Rehobeth is 25-45 minutes away, based on traffic.
Thank you for a pleasant vacation!
We had a great stay at this bright, airy house on the beach block at Broadkill Beach. The floor plan is wonderful for a family group, with a large open area with cathedral ceiling containing a kitchen, dining area and living room. With two bedrooms and bath and a small deck in the back and large deck in the front, and a loft bedroom, bath and balcony, the house is well suited to a family group (at times we were 6 adults, 1 child plus dogs). We appreciated the wonderful outdoor shower and hammocks under the house, as well as all the details that make this a beach home rather than a rental property. The kitchen was very well stocked, beach chairs and umbrella provided, and even a welcome gift awaited our arrival. The host was cooperative and pleasant. Overall this is a lovely place to stay at Broadkill.
Our family loved the open floor-plan and well-equipped kitchen, which allowed us to entertain some family who were visiting nearby for a group dinner. The three decks made for nice quiet space to get away, and the hammock and sitting area underneath was a nice touch as well. The un-crowded beach was just a few steps away, where we enjoyed bonfires and morning walks. The outdoor shower was heavenly! This beach house has many amenities that make it feel like a home, rather than a rental. We will definitely rent this one again!
My family recently stayed at Broadkill Beach in this lovely home. My husband and I, our two children (10 and 15) as well as my parents and our two yellow labs loved being able to have our dogs with us on vacation. They seemed to love the beach the most (except when the flies were biting). Rooms and beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, although the renter prior to us failed to refill the gas on the propane, it was great to have a grill to cook on for dinner. The area was quiet and neighbors were friendly. It was the perfect stress free week away. We hope to return in the future.
My family just returned home from a wonderful vacation at Broadkill Beach staying in this lovely home, and we cannot wait to return! My husband and I and our 4 young children (9, 8, 6, and 3) spent a blissful stress-free week here. We also had our sister and brother-in-law and newborn niece stay for a few nights. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the friendly and helpful owner, Greg. Greg was so easy to work with. Entering the home, we were immediately struck by how very comfy it feels. It was open and airy with plenty of space for our group, but still quite cozy. The kind of space that makes you feel right at home. The kitchen was great for our needs. We made several large dinners there as well as breakfast and lunch each day. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well, just make sure to bring extra sheets. The favorite spots in the house were the great room/kitchen area, outdoor shower, hammock, and the lovely screened porch on the second level. We spent a lot of time dozing and reading, or eating ice cream on the porch. But the best part of this home is it's close proximity to the beautiful Broadkill Beach. The home is just a few houses away from the beach. We spent hours each day in the sand and surf. The beach was nearly empty everyday, it was if we had the place to ourselves. The waves are so gentle, the kids could spend a lot of time in the ocean water. The sand is beautiful and we had lots of wildlife sightings: birds, gulls, horseshoe crabs, hermit crabs, blue crabs, sharks, rays, skates and dolphins. The home is located near Milton and the Primehook Preserve. There are several cute little restaurants and a grocery store in the area of Milton only a short drive away, and just a little further than that are the areas of Lewes, Dewey and Rehoboth where there are lots more dining, grocery and entertainment options.
It was truly one of the most peaceful and restful weeks we have ever had and we are so excited to return. I think we just found our family's new favorite vacation spot.
