Beautiful Old French House

The house is a beautiful,typical, old French house. The gardens were beautiful and tranquil. The pool was a nice addition as was the games room. However, beware of the road leading to the house - it is very twisty and narrow and takes nerves of steel to drive it each day! And a car is necessary as it’s a little off the beaten track. Also, don’t arrive too late on a Sunday evening as it is very difficult to find a shop that’s open so it would have been nice to have had a little welcome pack of coffee, bread, cheese, juice or something similar. Overall it was a very nice house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying in our house and for writing this review. We're happy you enjoyed the house, the garden and the game room. It's true that part of the road turns a lot, as is often the case in the region. We are in the Alpes Maritimes : the Cote d'Azur is a mountain that plunges into the sea ! so we recommend careful driving, and remember that it is possible to honk in turns. For shopping on Sunday evening there is a small market nearby, around the corner, which offers coffee, milk, farm eggs, crackers, jams, to help out. We would have gladly bought this for you, if you had informed us of this wish, and of your arrival at the end of the afternoon. There is also a large shopping center in La Trinité, 2.5 km from the house, and a grocery store also open on Sundays, near the train station. Kind regards, the owners.

Comfortable house in a great location

There are lots of positives about this home. We loved the location -- close to Nice, Cap Ferrat, and Èze. It is in a very quiet, private setting, yet not far from the motorway. I enjoyed a dip in the pool at the end of a day of sightseeing (but not my wife -- still a little too cool!) There is an Auchan supermarket close by, and a very handy little fruit, vegetable, and egg stand right at the turn off to the house. The owners are very nice and helpful, and quick to respond both to the booking inquiry and to questions I had prior to our arrival. It is obvious that they have showered lots of love and care on the house and grounds. But there are a couple of negatives. First, the Homeaway page says that there is internet, but there is not. This was a surprise, but not too big a handicap, since next to Auchan is a Flunch café with free wifi. We went there for a little bit most afternoons, for a coffee or gelato. Still, I hope the owner will remove that item from the description. The other issue is harder to fix. The house, in particular the ground floor, has a residual wood smoke smell from the fires that were previously used for heating and cooking. For many people that might be pleasant, but for me, it set off a not-so-fun time of asthma and sinus problems. I don't want to make a big deal of it, because for most people it is not a problem. But if you have fragrance sensitivities, it is worth knowing.

If our internet is not as quick as wifi, the reason is that in the vacation house, internet works with 4G on your own device. This is clearly written on the house description on the Homeaway platform. About fire smell, may be it could have come from the barbecue near the ground floor kitchen, as no wood heating is used in the hot season. We're sorry you were upset about this, and you think that's why you got ill. Anyway thank you for mentioning, we'll take care, as we always do our best for our hosts. best regards, the owner

Charming house of character

We had a very pleasant stay in this charming farmhouse which has been well furnished and equipped. The house is surrounded by trees and greenery and has a huge garden and yard my kids loved. We did not use the pool during our visit but the other amenities (pingpong & babyfoot tables, and piano) delighted my daughter. For people travelling by car, it is well located – a couple of miles from the motorway – yet without the associated noise, and it is a short drive away from Nice and Monaco. The house owners are warm, tactful and very friendly hosts, keen to help or give advice. We are still dressing our salads with the bottle of fragrant olive oil - pressed from the olives picked from the trees in the garden and surrounding plots –they very kindly gave us as a parting gesture. We strongly endorse this Provence house for a family holiday

Exceptional Family Vacation

This is an exception house for a family vacation. It is beautifully decorated and well appointed. Our children loved the large back yard, and swimming pool. The game room, with foosball and ping pong tables, piano, and indoor swing was a huge hit. It is perfectly located for travel. A 5 minute drive to a train station or the major freeway allows for convenient exploration throughout the French Riviera. A drive to Monaco was less than 20 minutes, Eze, Nice and Villefranche 10 minutes. Vence and St. Paul de Vence were close by and both unexpected gems. We most cherished the evenings spent at home, cooking on the outdoor grill and eating on the patio in this beautiful garden setting, or talking and reading by the fireplace in the family room. A local fresh fruit and vegetable stand was a short 2 minute walk away, and a major grocery store with plentiful parking was within a 5 minute drive. Jean-Louis and Fabienne were gracious hosts and were eager to ensure a hospitable stay. The home was comfortable and enjoyable. We will definitely recommend this to any family traveling to this area.

Exceptional Family Vacation

This is the perfect family vacation spot. The home is beautifully decorated and well appointed. It is a most charming french farmhouse. Our four children loved the swimming pool and huge yard. The play room with foosball and pingpong tables, the piano and the indoor swing was a huge hit. We loved the central location. < 20 minute drive to Monaco, 10 minutes to Eze, Nice or Villefranche. 5 minutes to the freeway or train-station allows you to easily explore anywhere along the French Riviera. Our favorite memories were in the evening: cooking on the backyard grill and eating on the patio, or talking and reading by the in-door fireplace. A fresh fruit and vegetable roadside stand is within a 2 minute walk. Jean-Luc and Fabienne are wonderful hosts and were eager to ensure a hospitable stay. We will definitely recommend this house for a memorable family vacation.

Charmantes Haus mit Garten

Wir haben das Haus sehr genossen. Es hat Charme und ist mit allem was man braucht ausgerüstet. Die Kinder haben den Garten, PingPong, Tschüttelikasten und den Pool geliebt. Die Vermieter sind nett. Der Gemüsehändler in der Nähe ist auch zu empfehlen. Einzig die schmalen Strassen den Hügel hinauf sind zu bemängeln.
