We are a family of four and live on Kauai. We have enjoy spending a lot of time on the west side of Kauai with the sunny days, surf, and laid back lifestyle. We also own a vacation rental in Hanalei for several years and are excited about having one to offer on the west side.

VIEWS! We chose this property for the amazing views. The west side feels alot like the old Hawaii that I grew up in and we like the laid back, uncrowded lifestyle. The west side is generally sunny and rains less than 10 inches a year. There is unlimited white sands beach and hiking in Kokee, so you are always guaranteed to find a quiet spot to enjoy.
If you are looking for a location off the beaten track, that does not feel like a touristy resort spot than this is the spot for you. People are drawn to Kekaha for its sunny days laid back lifestyle, a true slice of the old Hawaii.
We (2 couples) stayed here for a week, and enjoyed our visit. The view was great - we saw whales almost every day and one day we saw s school of dolphins swimming by. It was a good location - close to Waimea Canyon, and the town of Waimea. The house was comfortable and suited us just fine.
We stayed for 3 days in late April 2016. We recommend this place for a good time, to get away from it all and just relax. The place is very roomy and stocked fairly well for cooking, grilling, etc. linens and towels were very adequate. The A/C worked well and there are fans in every room. We enjoyed the views from the house to the surf across the highway just south of the property.
Early each morning, we walked on the beaches for miles. The beaches are clean and deserted, with miles of sand available. We went to the beach parks to the northwest and enjoyed the quiet areas around Kekaha. For services, Waimea (3 miles to the east) is well served with grocery and restaurants, such as Yumi's, which was a bargain. One evening we went on a sunset cruise to Na Pali coast courtesy of Blue Dolphin charters. This was our most memorable time of a 10 day visit to Hawaii. We re-visited Scenic Waimea Canyon which we saw on a prior trip to Kauai. We recommend Kekaha Surf House. Also, there are several beach toys, coolers and equipment at the house but we did not use.
My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we were looking for. The house is very clean, well stocked with all the necessary items and beach items, plus a large lanai (which we got messages on), and has amazing view of the ocean. It was so relaxing to just sit on the lanai and watch the waves roll in and at night the star gazing is phenomenal. The location is set away from all tourist areas which is nice if you are looking to leave all behind. With that said you are about a hour or more away from most of the tourist activities, large restaurants, and the north side of the island so be prepared to drive. We did not mind the drive since HELLO you are in Kauai and there is beauty and new sights every time you head out. A down side of the house is the two lane highway that run right in front of the house. For a two lane road it is busy and can be loud at times but you just learn to tune it out and at night just close all windows and turn the a/c on. Don't let the highway be a deal breaker for you the house is amazing and we will return to enjoy all that it has to offer. The owners are amazing and easy to communicate with if you need anything.
During our trip to Kauai, we were looking to spend some time off the beaten path. This place offers Million dollar views. We felt like we were on the ocean. Not too many tourists around and close to sleepy town of Waimea, the Waimea canyon and the sandy beach dunes of Polihale. Very clean, all the amenities and tons of decks to relax and take in the beauty.
My boyfriend and I had a trip planned to the Big Island only to find with about 2 weeks notice that Hurricane Iselle took the roof off of the house we had planned to stay in. I was working in Waikiki for 3 weeks and desperately wanted to vacation away from touristy chaos following those weeks. My boyfriend found this house in Kauai online last minute and while we were disappointed that all our initial plans were foiled by the storm (and sorry for the owners that lose their roof), we were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this home. Paul and his family were actually there for a few days enjoying the other house on the property and they were helpful and welcoming but not at all invasive. The layout of the home, the décor and details, the VIEW and the sounds and breeze off the ocean were wonderful!! They offer beach chairs, umbrella and snorkel gear for use, washer and dryer, beach towels and everything in the kitchen you'd need. The house and location were awesome!
A few things to keep in mind: You'll need to drive, in some cases, a distance, to most shopping, hiking, restaurants, activities...(which we loved)! Some places we went required 4x4 vehicles so rent a Jeep! There are mosquitoes but the house offers the coiled incense repellent and bring spray repellent. The home does not have Air Conditioning but in August we didn't need it with the cool ocean breezes.
I had the privilege of staying at this house for a week and it was absolutely one of the best places I have ever stayed anywhere. I travel the earth continually (including Kauai very often) and this place ranks at the top. It is right near the ocean which when you open the windows and the sliding doors in the master bedroom lulls you into a tropical bliss. While you are here you can feel the healing that is being done by the energy and vibrancy of Kauai. This house is away from the crowds yet is close to the major cities/utilities/gas/stores/attractions. You will feel that you are secluded and alone and that you are truly in an environment of peaceful, calm privacy. Everything that you could need for a vacation to Kauai is in this house. There is one very bad thing though which made the last day here nearly intolerable and that is that I knew I had to leave!!!! I will definitely come again. Many places on the Island charge double or more for a house like this. I can promise you that you will fall in love with this place. You have to experience it for yourself. The ocean, tropical plants, the cute geckos, completely open windows and doors if you choose lull one away into a indescribable bliss. You may not want to leave the house and go touring as just being in this place is so healing and refreshing and relaxing. Mahalo to the owners for their diligent efforts in creating this oasis away from the world.
