We moved to Greece with our 3 kids in 2005. We have built a small tourist accommodation business and our family home, within a 2 acre olive grove facing the sea, to get 'back to our roots'.Living and working closer to the flora and forna of the Mediterranean in a wild and rugged environment, and offering our children an alternative experience. seabreezegr.com After the adventures, mishaps and wonders of the initial couple of years, we are now settled into our seaside village life. We take a pride in cultivating and caring for our 200 majestic olive trees. Pruning and shaping the form for optimum health. The fruits are harvested by the whole family in late November and all the local groves are a whirl of activity. We bag up the olives and take them to the local press where we enjoy the lively banter with the other farmers. The cold press extraction produces a liquid gold extra virgin oil that is second to none!

Why Simon chose Methoni
We have developed a love for this unspoilt corner of Europe and take great pleasure in hosting guests from all over the world. We intend to help facilitate you enjoying a great holiday in this truly wonderful area which has something to offer all ages.We live onsite and are available for any advise or recommendations. It is of the utmost importance that we provide our guests privacy and quiet in a safe and clean environment, so they have the possibility to enjoy a memorable holiday. seabreezegr.com.
What makes this Villa unique
All our farming activities from: harvesting, feeding and maintaining our 200 olive trees, vegetable garden and fruit orchards incorporate organic and permaculture methods, helping in maintaing healthy soil and minimize water usage. All garden plants are endemic and selected to have minimal water requirements and are watered using a drip system, again conserving water wherever possible. Our chickens are free range and aid us in sharing the kitchen waste with our compost bin as well as providing enormous tasty eggs. As often as possible we use recycled materials for outside building projects ( greenhouses, pergolas, raised vegetable beds, walls, paths, animal shelters, tree houses etc) often combed from beaches when storms have delivered timbers. We have restored and converted a stone store room to form the master bedroom of one house using local methods, craftsmen and materials. Our swimming pool incorporates the most energy efficient filter system and liner. Thus enabling us to keep her filled with water even in winter and only having to refresh the water by a third instead of 100% every spring.

Pretty, private, well-equipped, beautiful location
We loved our stay - such a wonderful location, beautiful and friendly (property and Methoni area!). The location of the cottages in the grounds makes them feel very private, there is so much space in the olive grove and each house has a hammock and chairs in the garden, as well as a front terrace with tables and a fantastic roof terrace with beautiful views. The swimming pool was always the perfect temperature and in a lovely location. With only three properties, we had it to ourselves most of the time! The kitchen is very well-equipped - juicer (for the huge bags of oranges available for 3 or 4 euros on the side of the road), kettle, coffee maker, toaster, plus a small oven and pots and pans. Plenty for self-catering and making the most of the local fresh fruit and veg. The cottage has a very detailed booklet including things to do in the area, but Simon also gave us a list of the best local beaches - which were fantastic. He was incredibly friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed the eggs from the chickens in the garden (no crowing cockerel though!) and being able to compost too, of we wanted! We walked into Methoni in the evenings, which is about 20-30 minutes (take a torch) or a short drive. Methoni is a pretty town with lots of tavernas, cafes and restaurants and is very relaxed, many Greek tourists. It didn't feel overly touristy, which we appreciated. The beach in Methoni is long and narrow and was never over-crowded, the sea is calm and shallow - it's a lovely town beach. We found a local windsurfing school/hire in the town beach which was a great part of the holiday. The Peloponnese is really beautiful - very green, even in August, and relatively quiet. We visited Ancient Messene, Koroni, beautiful waterfalls and the stunning Voidikolia beach, as well as other local beaches (none of which were crowded). I fell in love with Greece and would happily return to this area and definitely to the cottage.
Wow! Thank you so much Pippa for such a comprehensive review of your holiday. It certainly sounds as if you made the most of the lovely area and enjoyed yourselves to the max. Always a pleasure to hear that our guests really immersed themselves into what we and the local surroundings have to offer. We look forward to welcoming you back again.thanks again Simon.
Relax amongst the olive trees
We had a wonderful holiday exploring the uncrowded sandy beaches nearby, pottering around the small town of Methoni and visiting amazing venetian and ottoman forts. The sea is the cleanest that I think I have ever swum in. A highlight was taking the boat from Methoni across to the island of Sapienza; Vassilis the boatman stopped over the shipwreck of 2000 year old stone sarcophogi, which could clearly be seen in 8 metres of water.
We stayed in Gaia Cottage: the cottage was simply furnished and had everything we needed (no microwave or dishwasher but we didn't mind that). What really matters to us are things like mattresses, and they were very comfortable. The setting in the olive grove is lovely. There are views across the countryside and to the sea from the cottage patio, from its small and exposed roof terrace (too hot for us during the day), from the pool area and a truly remarkable view, from the front of the Sea Breeze property, of Methoni bay and town.
Simon is friendly and approachable and took very good care of us, with advice about where to go and what to do. We really enjoyed his olive oil, eggs, passion fruit and aubergines.
The shared pool worked really well for us and was a good way to meet other people staying there.
We shall definitely go back to this area of of the Peleponnese and to Seabreeze.
Thank you kindly for your detailed review. It was a pleasure to meet you both.
I am glad you enjoyed what is on offer in the lovely area, and Seabreeze property. Hope to welcome you back in the near future, Regards Simon
A recommander !
Beautiful home inside green nature
Seabreeze is located on a hill just above the town of Methoni, with beautiful view to the bay, close enough to go down to town in a one or two minutes of drive, or a few minutes of walk, and yet isolated to those who need a piece of quiet nature. The three houses are far away from one another, which gives a lot of privacy, and are sorounded by beautiful vegetation, the sound of birds and crickets, and beautiful skies full of stars at night. The house was very cleen and well equiped with everything we needed, and gave a very homly feeling. On the day of arrival we where greeted with fruit, vegetables (homely grown) fresh bread and a few more refreshments which made the end of the long drive feel very welcoming. The swimming pool is beautifully located in front of the open view, and very nice to sit by a relax while the kids are in the water.
There are many things to do and see in the area, and we found the location very convenient- Methoni itself is a beautiful town, with many good places to eat and a very impressive fortress to visit. Finikounda is a few minutes drive from there, and beautiful Koroni is about 25 minutes drive, with beautiful beaches along the way. Simon was very helpful in giving us advice a directions on where to go. We really loved the stay at "Seabreeze" and would love to come back once again.
Tranquil and full of rustic charm.
Beautiful small villa, perfect for two or four, but does sleep six (converting the sofa in the lounge). Large patio with the option to use the roof terrace for sea or star gazing. The access to the roof terrace is via a spiral staircase which is quite tight but worth going up. Simon went out of his way to help us and a big thank you to you Simon for the very fresh eggs and veg you supplied! If you want to unwind then this is the place for you. The swimming pool is of a good size and kept immaculately clean. As there are only three villas in total we only encountered one other person using the pool at the same time. It felt like a private pool! The nearest sandy beach is a four minute drive away which does have a beach bar, pool for children, good size deep pool and beach loungers if required. Simon supplied maps and places to go, which you need to take heed of, as they are worth while seeing. You definitely need a car as everything is a small drive away, with other places being up to a 90 minute drive away. The nearest two towns are 15 minutes away with many restaurants bars and sandy beaches with a local supermarket only 10 minutes away that stocks everything except fresh meat for the supplied BBQ This can be obtained in the two towns but only in the mornings. Thank you again Simon for giving us the perfect place to have a relaxing holiday. Don and Ali.
Thank you so much Gordon and Alison for this comprehensive review. It is always my intention to provide guests comfortable accommodation and offer advise of local attractions so as to allow for a great holiday. Thus it is a pleasure to hear how guests enjoy themselves and time spent at Seabreeze. Kind Regards Simon
Peaceful holiday in an olive grove
We really enjoyed our holiday at Seebreeze near Methoni. This is a beautiful area and there are lots of things to do and many areas to explore. We visited ancient sites, remote hilltop villages, beaches, local towns, castles, museums and the market in Kalamata. Simon was very helpful in suggesting things to see and providing maps. We enjoyed meeting his extremely friendly cats!
The house was clean and all the basic things we needed were there. We bought you an egg cup and a juice squeezer! There was a great view from the rooftop terrace, a good place to drink our ouzo!
However we felt that with a few small details and little expense he could easily improve a few things. The view from the front door needs tidying up, abandoned car, broken polytunnel and various clutter lying around. Inside, the house needs to be kept up to date...for example, new bedding needed, worktops in the kitchen need replacing, bathroom drain hole doesn`t work....so puddles form, a more generous welcome pack, say half a dozen eggs and a bottle of wine. Many cottages these days have a very high standard and for the price asked one expects things to be kept up to date and those few little extras make all the difference.
This is intended to be constructive...we did enjoy our holiday!!
Dear Joy, thank you for your constructive review. I agree with some, though not all of your points, and these shall be dealt with over the winter. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday Regards Simon.
Methoni in the Messinia region of the South West Peloponnese is a charming unspoilt seaside village offering a 'Real Greek' experience. Only 45 minutes from local airport (Kalamata). It has an impressive castle to explore and some of the countries finest, uncrowded, child friendly sandy beaches with crystal clear sea. Many tasty local tavenas with a friendly and welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Pylos (10min), Koroni (20min) and Finikounda(5min) are picturesque Greek fishing villages. The area is abound in olive, orange, lemon and fig trees with a green, lush landscape with beautiful scenery, against the backdrop of the hills, mountains and sea. Voidakilla a stunning lagoon/bay and nature reserve/bird watching only 20min away. Methoni is ideally located to explore the many sites of antiquity in the area or enjoy a walk in nature. There is something for all the family to enjoy. The accommodation is situated in a our olive grove with nothing to disturb the peace and tranquility.
