Fantastic location! We're in the heart of the city of Takoma Park, on the Washington DC-Maryland border. We're 7 miles (11 kilometers) from the heart of Washington DC -- the White House, Capitol Hill, the National Mall, the Smithsonian, the Botanical Gardens, and many famous museums and art galleries.
Our neighborhood is friendly, community-oriented, and easily walkable. Takoma Park is known for its many large trees and eclectic Victorian homes, its flowering foliage, hilly streets, and its friendly and diverse community atmosphere. There is plenty of open space and several parks nearby. Our town is home to many political notables, authors, artists, and musicians.
A short walk into Old Town Takoma takes you to a variety of unique restaurants, bars, and pubs, several of which offer live music! We have coffee shops, an organic food co-op, gift shops, clothing boutiques, antique stores, a bead shop, an award-winning spa (Still Point)... and don't miss our famous Farmer's Market every Sunday!
It is a 10-minute walk to the Takoma Park Metro Station (on the Red Line), then a 15-20 minute subway ride takes you into the heart of Washington, DC. Our public transportation system is extensive and affordable, it's easy to get just about anywhere in the DC metropolitan region. Prefer to bike? Takoma Park has just installed two bike-share racks close by.
The Amtrack Train station is at Union Station, on the Red Line, a 15-min ride from Takoma Park. Three airports serve the DC metropolitan area: Dulles (IAD), Reagan International (DCA), and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). All three are approximately 35-45 minutes from our B&B and securing transportation from the airport to our home is easy - need help? - just ask!
We are easy-going and flexible but do have a few suggestions for our guests:
1) We have flexible check-in and check-out times. However, when we are fully booked and have back-to-back guests in one day we appreciate having plenty of time to clean and prepare, and often ask guests checking in to arrive at 5 pm or later. Planning a late night arrival? No problem!
2) During your stay, please let us know if you have any special requests or if you'd like us to add or improve on something-- we'll respond right away! We pride ourselves on our prompt and excellent service.
3) If you have allergies or chemical sensitivities, let us know when you book the space and we will do a special deep-cleaning for you and provide an air purifier.
4) Absolutely NO SMOKING, inside our B&B or anywhere on our property.
5) If you happen to break or lose one of our items, please let us know right away so that we can work out a way to have it repaired or replaced.
6) Feel free to call or text us at any time! And if you'd like to meet and chat for a bit, invite us down! We give our guests total privacy and engage in person only at the initiation of our guests.
Enjoy your stay at Takoma Bliss!

Convenient to Washington DC without the hustle and bustle of the city. Our B&B has a country feel - lots of trees and open space. We're in a great neighborhood in a popular town with plenty to do for adults and kids alike. We custom-built our home about 10 years ago - it's warm and cozy in winter, cool and fresh in summer. You'll love it here!
Our guests love the easy access to Washington DC via the Metro, our friendly neighborhood, our comfortable accommodations and many amenities!
Some of the best things about staying in Anne's house are things one doesn't necessarily expect in a rental property: there was coffee already available, so we could make ourselves a pot the first morning to combat the jetlag. The floors are not carpeted, so I didn't suffer from my usual dust allergies. There's a spacious main room, so early risers can relax, use the WiFi, read on the roomy couch, or enjoy the quiet. In addition, Takoma Park is an interesting community and a really nice break from DC. But so close to everything that we were able to use our rental car and Metro to visit with friends and see DC sights.
Anne was very accommodating and helpful. She suggested running in a nearby park that was gorgeous and a lovely wild surprise in the middle of this bustling urban area. I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks Anne!
I felt very comfortable at Takoma Bliss and am so grateful for all the amenities and quiet atmosphere provided by our host. My husband and I enjoyed our short walk uphill to the Metro station nearby and loved exploring Takoma Park as well. Many thanks!
Our family of 6 spent a wonderful 10 days at Takoma Bliss. Benefits: fairly close to Washington DC sights (15-20 minute walk to the Metro, then half an hour into town using the 7-day short trip metro SmarTrip card without paying extra in peak hours); great neighborhood (weekly farmer's market, nearby parks); great breakfasts (pastries, milk, and juice delivered each morning in a cooler); plenty to do even when staying put (books, kids games, movies, outside patio living, playpen and high chair available for infant; and it was a nice break to not have cable TV); great landlord (the owner is happy to meet you if you want, and is responsive to any needs arising during the stay, but is also quite good at remaining out of the way until you contact her - she also offers optional services for an extra charge like babysitting, laundry, or ride to the metro). Drawbacks: kitchenette is very tiny (mini-bar fridge, only a hot plate and microwave, very little storage), so it is easier to eat out or have deliveries than to cook, although warming leftovers is easy; the only sink is located behind the bathroom door, so washing dishes competes with everything else going on; 4 of the guests must share 2 queen-size air mattresses (although our kids thought it was a treat, not everyone will agree); and during our visit, we were troubled by ants trying to locate food in the kitchenette. But in spite of the drawbacks, we enjoyed it (both price and experience) much more than we would a formal hotel suite for 6, so this is our first place to return if we make another trip to the DC area.
We stayed here for a week. It's a great location - a short walk to some excellent, reasonably-priced, restaurants and the train station, and a bit longer walk to a fairly expensive grocery store.
The pictures don't give you an idea of what the place is like. My best description is a studio with an attached bedroom. The bedroom is spacious, with a desk, and a huge closet filled with extra linens. The studio area is divided into three areas - a relaxation area with a large, sectional sofa, an eating area with table and the "kitchenette", and a large multi-purpose area for exercise, TV-watching and air-mattresses. The kitchenette is minimal - a bar fridge, microware, toaster and coffee pot. You won't be cooking a meal here, and you will be washing dishes in the bathroom, but it is more than sufficient if expect to just eat breakfast and be gone for the rest of the day. There are plenty of glasses and dishes and simple breakfast choices (bars, cereal, granola, oatmeal) and pastries, fruit or breads along with yogurt, juice and milk are left in a cooler outside the door every morning.
This will be our first choice next time we visit DC.
