Cabin 'Snowshoe' is wonderful nestled in the woods, lovely built by the owners.
With it's two stories, created with a lot of beautiful details that makes it cozy, you will feel like home.
On the first floor there is a kitchen, a Futon Coach and a great sitting space. Even it is a dry cabin we set up a running water system in the cabin (cold fresh water) We built a modern Outhouse directly be near the cabin Cold water and a great Outdoor shower (warm in 10 sec.) in summer.
I provide free towels. Upstairs is a 'one of a kind' sleeping area with two Queen beds.
I provide free bedding.
From here you are able to watch wildlife or the gorgeous Northern Lights in winter times.
The furnished cabin contains everything you need to feel comfortable.
You are able to use a kitchenette with all the inventory you will need.
As our Cabin is standing on our property we are always there for all you little needs.
Enjoy the outdoors and get the real Alaskan feeling of our great Country and Nature. There are different places to buy wood and charcoal.

My husband and I are 58 years old and Germans. We emigrated in 2011 and enjoy to live in this great nature. We are located in North Pole, own a wonderful home and built our cabin by ourselves. As we live on the property, we are there for all the little needs every day. My husband owns his own company: alaska-wildlife-guide. He loves to show the customers, why we love this great gorgeous country and guides them to the best places of our area. I take care of our cabin and try to spoil our visitors as much as I can. I offer Wellness- and Energy Massages on my property as well. We both speak German and English.
Jutta Zahnen purchased this cabin in 2013
We choose this property, because our dream was to live in the nature, nestled in the forest, enjoying wildlife. It is a great property to explore the Northern Lights in the winter months, having a cup of coffee and enjoy Our winter wonderland.
Our property is very central, close to North Pole (with shops, post office, pharmacy and restaurants and the famous Santa Claus House), around the corner to our gorgeous Chena Lakes.
You need 25 min to Fairbanks if you are interested in culture and sightseeing.
Weather you like to hike, swim, fish in summer or ice fish, Dog mush or drive to the Arctic Circle, Chena Hot Springs in winter......this is a great point to start your adventure.
Let us help you to plan your vacation.
We live close to the cabin and are always there for your needs.
This was the largest loft-style guest cabin we stayed in in Alaska. It feels, in many ways, more like a house than a cabin--as the walls are drywalled, and the downstairs space is quite large. Also, the "outhouse" isn't really an outhouse at all, but rather a full bathroom that simply doesnt have running water. Jutta and Raner change the receptacle every day, so there's no "outhouse smell," and there are nice soaps, etc. As we came in winter when it was negative thirty degrees out, we did not get the opportunity to use the outdoor shower, but it looked just as nice as the adjacent outhouse. Either way, there are showers just five minutes driving away that are just fine, in the event that you come during the winter. Lastly, both Jutta and Raner were very pleasant, and Raner has a nice operation with Alaska-Wilderness-Guide, with lots of opportunities for tours. We weren't able to go on one, but we did get a chance to see the price list and it looked very reasonable. They were very nice and accommodating, and willing to waive the cleaning fee after we left the place clean for them. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
This cozy little cabin was perfect for my boyfriend and I. :-)
We had a great experience at "Cabin Snowshoe" - Jutta and Rainer were excellent hosts and made sure we were taken care of. The cabin was a great compromise between feeling like you are truly getting an Alaskan experience (i.e. not staying in a chain hotel) while at the same time not being too rustic for someone who isn't outdoorsy or a big camper. It was the perfect size for two, the loft was very cozy and comfortable. The amenities made it easy to cook, grill, reheat leftovers, or stock supplies to pack a cooler for a day trip.
Our two suggestions to those planning a trip are to make sure you have an SUV, truck, or similar vehicle. Do not get a car. The road is very bumpy. But really, you shouldn't be getting a car anyway if you want to drive Denali Highway and other dirt roads, so this is also a general Alaska tip. The other is that the outhouse toilet seat can be cold, especially at night (we were there in late August/early September). A layer of toilet paper or paper towel on the seat does the trick, at least during that time of year - problem solved.
After going out to see the northern lights two nights in a row (Murphy Dome then Ester Dome), we saw the best light show of all right outside of the cabin on the third night. It is a really great light viewing location! We enjoyed many other sights in and around Fairbanks, and if we get to come back in the future we will look forward to going on some of the trips offered by Jutta and Rainer like the Arctic Circle trip.
We had an amazing time and give Jutta and Rainer our highest recommendation!
Our week's stay at Jutta and Rainer's cabin was all that we could hope for and more. The kitchen was well appointed, the sleeping accommodations superb and the hot shower- as hot as one could take it in the midst of the surrounding beauty of nature. We didn't know exactly what to expect with the outdoor toilet, but it far exceeded our expectations...(much nicer than some indoor toilets). The best part was the warm and genuine hospitality shown by this wonderful couple. We enjoyed our many visits with them, sharing stories and things we have in common. We head out tomorrow for the remainder of our adventure, but are a little sad to leave this part behind.
What a great little cabin! It was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Jutta and Rainer are amazing people who went above and beyond to make sure we had all the comforts of home. Thank you both for a wonderful vacation!!
The Arctic circle tour was a lot of fun!! Highly recommend!
Just spent the last week of February at this cabin and it was perfect to discover that part of Alaska! Cabin is relly clean and Jutta and Rainer very nice hosts!
