Beautiful, charming log cabin lake home with every modern convenience on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes in Richmond, MN. Only 1 hr, 15 min away from Twin Cities means you spend less time in your car and more time enjoying the lake and everything it has to offer. One of the area’s top fishing spots is right off the dock, while swimming and boating possibilities abound across 15 interconnected lakes with several public boat launches easily accessible nearby. Or just kick back and enjoy the many spots on the wrap around deck to enjoy a good book or a game of cards while watching your kids both big and small race through the 1.5 acre yard in front of you. Cabin sleeps 10-12 comfortably and has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a layout designed to maximize family time together while at the lake. You can bring your own boat and tie to the dock or rent one (boat/pontoon/jet ski) from the local marina less than 5 minutes away. Unfortunately, no pets or smoking on the property or in the house.
Caren is a native Minnesotan who has enjoyed endless summers 'up north' her entire life. After she realized how little she enjoyed spending hours in cabin traffic she gave up that life. Years later, she and her husband Per, who happened to commute to St. Cloud daily for work, found the perfect cabin location! Now 'up north' is close to home but still holds all the memories that can only be made at a Minnesota cabin.
Our four children have shed their city tendencies while running barefoot all summer long, vying to be the first one in the lake each spring, passing the swim across the lake challenge, catching turtles, fish and insects and spending entire days outside!
Little did we know, cabin life wasn't just for summer and winter became just as great up here. We sled, snowmobile, ice fish, snow shoe and again, spend entire days outside. The quiet beauty is amazing.
Caren purchased this house in 2010
We bought this lake home as a quick and convenient getaway from the Twin Cities onto the lakes and it has exceeded expectations. When we pull into the driveway we can just feel cabin life entering our bodies. It is great for family getaways, family get-togethers, or a vacation with friends. In addition to the 15 interconnected lakes, the local area is home to the famous Cold Spring Bakery as well as the MN State Fair blue ribbon award winning meat processors for all your grilling needs. We hope you enjoy staying at our lake home as much as we do.
We instantly fell in love with this cabin. It could have been the sheer beauty of the house, the view of the lake, or the huge grassy lawn but more than that it was the feel of peace we had when we arrived. Personally, I love the chairs on the deck where the kids can't really see me, the screen porch for games at night, the yard for big gatherings and games and of course, the lake that has zero entry for the little kids and enough depth to jump off the dock at the end.
We were pleasantly surprised at how much was really stocked there! It was like being at home. The property is beautiful!
The photos do not do justice to the property and home. Both were spectacular! A gem in a tranquil setting where both adults and children can relax or be active. The home was equipped with many activities to keep our young children as well as the adults engaged and comfortable. Very well equipped, clean home for renters.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lovely lake home near Richmond , MN! The home is spacious, clean, well cared for, and has all the amenities you would need! There’s something for everyone at Paradise on the Lake! The kitchen and living areas provided a great space for family gatherings and meals yet there were plenty of nooks and crannies for anyone favoring some quiet time to read or observe nature. The kids in our group loved the toy stocked loft and the large backyard was great for Frisbee throwing and badminton. Of course, the lake provided hours of recreation from the paddle boat to just floating along the dock. The owners were pleasant and easy to work with as were the caretakers who lived next door. They were available to help and answer any of our questions. We really had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this rental!
We had a great vacation and enjoyed the cabin on trhe Sauk chain of lakes! The cabin was fabulous, clean, well organized, spacious and in a great location, even better than the pictures. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed being able to ski, tube, and board right off the dock. The big yard offered a variety of options - soccer, a small wading pool, a great fire pit, and even shade for those interested in it. The kitchen was well stocked and the two refrigerators were helpful. We had a variety of ages and the cabin was well equipped to accomodate us; the loft with amazing toys was a hit for the grandkids and the garage hosted lots of entertainment options. We explored the chain of lakes with our speed boat and 2 rented (reasonably priced) jet skiis. The cabin is close to a bike trail which we enjoyed, a wonderful family friendly public beach with a gradual entry into the water, and the Granite Quarries (1/2 hour away) for cliff jumping and swimming in the spring fed pool. There are grocery stores not far away to pick up those forgotten items and the caretakers who live next door are helpful, friendly, and wonderful. We shared some phenomenal memories as a family and plan to return for more another time.
This cabin was fantastic. It is obviously more like a home than a cabin. We rented it for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday. We had a couple families for the weekend and had no problem finding beds for everyone. There are so many places to sleep and spread out. It was great because we didn't feel on top of each other. The large yard was an extra bonus. The kids had plenty of room to run and play. They also had a fun time in the lake. We did some fishing and tubing while we were there as well. A great time was had by all.
Our family has rented several lake properties in Minnesota, and this is one of our favorites! The location is ideal - only an hour and 15 minutes from Minneapolis. The home is gorgeous and has every amenity you could ask for. Tons of room to spread out and lots of areas for sleeping. Very comfortable for large families or two families traveling together as there are bedrooms on the upper and lower levels, plus a loft (which the kids loved). There are lovely decks to enjoy your morning coffee and a HUGE yard for the kids to run around and play outdoor games. The chain of lakes is interesting to explore, with several different bays and lakes to discover. The kids had fun swimming and fishing off the dock. We enjoyed the firepit by the lake for roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. This is a very clean and well maintained property. I highly recommend this property! We will definitely return!
We are located between the towns of Cold Spring and Richmond. Both towns host great summer festivals full of small town touches. There are parks, restaurants, bars and groceries in each town. Cold Spring also has a movie theatre, bowling alley, bakery and brewhouse.
