The perfect location for rest and relaxation, with all the bustle of town only a leisurely stroll along the beach or bike ride away. After your long hard day of play, you will be very happy you chose the peace and quiet of this tropical get away.
There is a small apt on the ground floor that we the owners occupy when we are in Belize.
Larry and Dorette, we are the owner/managers. We are retired and spend half the year here in Belize and the other half back home with our family in Maine
Larry and Dorette Pelotte purchased this villa in 2008
We discovered Belize in 2003, we had done some traveling to various places, we were trying to determine where we would like live when we retired. Most places are great your first time there, but when you come back for a second visit, it's just not the same. Not so with Belize, we came again and again and it never got old, it actually became more and more like home. We talked so much about Belize to friends and family we finally decided it was time to stop 'just talking' and do it. We found and purchased our home in 2008 and have not had a single regret since.
We bought this house having only seen pictures of it! Sounds crazy! But when we walked through the door for the first time, the pictures didn't do it justice. We were most impressed with how open, large and airy it is. The wrap around veranda is a perfect outdoor space. I love that I can sit at the dining table and look straight out and see the ocean. The layout is also perfect, the guest bedroom is on the opposite side of the living area, so you never feel cramped. There is a one bedroom apartment downstairs, where we stay when the house is rented.
Staying at Casa Mi Hermana was a great joy for our family. The owners are extremely welcoming, helpful and took care of our every need. The home more than exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived and was very clean and comfortable. We loved the view from the balcony and the short walk to the beautiful beaches. Convenience shopping and great eating opportunities are close at hand.
We will be back....Thanks again to Larry and Dorette!
We enjoyed staying outside of town and the great rental bikes we rented in town. We did an excursion with the scuba school located nearby. We explored the southern point of the island.
Had a great time! Larry & Dorette were excellent hosts. The property is exactly as described and was very comfortable. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!!
Just ended a really wonderful 11 days at Casa Mi Hermana and can't say enough good things about this guest house. Larry and Dorette were incredibly helpful in planning the vacation and during our time with them. They live below the guest suite so were available when we had questions about where to eat or best beaches to visit and were always more than willing to help make our vacation great. The accommodations were perfect and proximity to the ocean and San Pedro made both very easily accessible. We only rented a golf cart for one day to make a trip north of San Pedro to Secret Beach (highly recommended!), walking into town along the beach (about 4 km or 2.5 miles each way) each day. But if you are not as keen to walk as we, golf cart rentals abound on the island. Purchasing groceries and snacks was very easy - most of the things we needed being available at a small grocery less than 100 meters south of us on the main road. A really incredible vacation that was made special by this place and our hosts. I couldn't recommended them or this property more highly.
My adult family spent 10 days at Casa Mi Hermana during the Thanksgiving holidays and it was a perfect fit. The spacious living area allowed us to enjoy dinner around one table and a fully functioning kitchen gave us the option of eating in periodically. Our accommodations were spotless and a large washer dryer was a godsend.
Larry and Dorette were perfect hosts and fonts of information.Their suggestion to contact Scuba School Family Diving Center, a 10 minute walk from the house, led to enrollment in classes for new divers and a refresher course for several of us. The Schools thorough instructions and safety conscious attitude would make even the most timid diver comfortable in the water.
If we return to Belize, we hope we have the opportunity to stay at Larry and Dorette's again.
We had a mixed group of 2 families and used the pull out sofa and extra mattress in addition to the 2 air-conditioned bedrooms. Having lots of space and 2 bathrooms was helpful. The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to make a lobster feast for a big group without any problems. The deck was a huge bonus. There's an outdoor shower to clean gear and keep the sand outside, plenty of room to park your carts (we had 2), and it's fenced for security. It's just a bit south of the action of town, which we loved, but you will need to secure transportation if you are staying here, as it is too far to walk with gear or luggage. There is a great residential beach access in walking distance though, as well as a little market for basic items (milk, beer, bug spray). Larry and Doreet are great hosts and we will stay here again.
