Looking for long-term (6 months or more) renters for my colonial era brick home built in 1731. Four spacious bedrooms (1 w/ fireplace), two full baths, dining room w/ fireplace and vaulted great room w/ loft. Home is surrounded by woods, fields and a stream on property visible from kitchen. A perfect place to unwind. Many original details such as wide plank floors and hand blown window panes. Updates include a Cooks kitchen with a commercial range, washer/dryer and central AC. Relax in the spacious great room or outside on the lawn while the kids play in the clubhouse. Sit around by the campfire at night roasting marshmallows and watching fireflies.
There are many beautiful walks, waterfalls and swimming holes in the area. The town of Chatham is a charming village with shops, restaurants and a small movie theatre. 20 minutes away is the town of Hudson; filled with antique shops, NYTimes acclaimed restaurants and the Helsinki music venue. Great Barrington is a 30min drive away which offers many cultural highlights including the mahaiwe theatre, art galleries and fine dining. PS21 artspace and Mac-Hayden theater are under 5 minutes drive and it's just a little further to Tanglewood, The Mount, and several sculpture parks.
A great location, superb architecture, an interior sense of style, and best of all piece and quiet. Would highly recommend.
We were a group of 9 (4 couples, 1 single) from NY and Boston and stayed fairly comfortably in the home. Someone will need to draw the short straw of staying in a smaller baby's room, which we were aware of as we booked the location. The home has lots of charm, toys, along with a well stocked kitchen.
The central AC let us sleep comfortably. You can comfortably spend a day or two on premises BBQing, stargazing and chatting. Nearby, there are swimming holes, hiking, and plenty of outdoor activities. Pittsfield and Great Barrington and Downtown Valatie, and Hannaford are all pretty close.
All in all, a good spot to decompress.
The space is spacious and comfortable for a large family. We had grandparents visiting from out of town and needed a comfortable getaway. The main floor has a large living space with a piano and guitar. We made lots of meals and ate in the dining room. Four bedrooms gave us ample room for sleep. There is a deck off of the kitchen, where we would have breakfast in the coolness of the morning.
We needed a place that's baby-friendly... and this place hit the mark with lots of toys, a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs, and cabinet locks. A crib was included, and even a white noise machine. We ended up packing a lot of baby entertainment items that we didn't need to bring because there's so much here already.
The location is an easy drive to local farms, Valatie, Chatham, and just a little further to Hudson. There are many little gems in the local area, which we spent a day looking at, but mostly we relaxed in the house.
The host is communicative, answers all questions quickly, and helped provide us with specific suggestions.
We chose this property for its proximity to both NYC and Boston, and used it as a meeting place for our latest extended family gathering. We were 6 adults, 2 toddlers, and a dog, and we all fit with room to spare within this unique home.
The sleeping areas were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the living room had ample seating, a piano, and plenty of toys!
It was a great launching point to explore the region, and for cycling.
We would recommend this property without reserve.
A great Mother's day with three generations of our family upstate. The house is large with plenty of open common space...a great double height room with views of the countryside. The house has been partially renovated...so it's a mix of small luxuries and original, but comfortable farm house.
The property is expansive. A small stream runs behind the house and there are a few charming old barns. We used the fire pit for roasting marshmallows and warm star-gazing. Enjoyed our stay.
