This property is located on 17 beautiful wooded acres next to Douglas Lake. It is owned by Mountain Lake Resort, which has other buildings including a huge log cabin lodge with 8 bedrooms that sleeps up to 64 and a large bunkhouse with 1 large room that sleeps up to 18.
This is a "Do It Yourself" Retreat Center which means that our guests provide their own sheets or sleeping bags, pillows, towels and washcloths. The bed sizes are listed for your information.
The main lodge has 16 hotel style rooms and can sleep up to 64. It is perfect for large groups like wedding parties, church events & retreats, family reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc. The lodge is located away from the hustle and bustle of town and it is less than 500 yards from the lake. Due to it's remote location, it offers guests the opportunity to go for walks, fishing, swimming, bird watching, etc. The lodge has porches outside of each room and a large back porch where people can relax, read a book, or just enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. Inside each room is a heating and air unit that is adjustable by room, 1 full bathroom, and beds. There are 6 rooms with 2 queen sized beds, 8 rooms with 2 full sized beds, 1 family room with 2 queen beds and 2 bunk beds, and a honeymoon suite with 1 king bed and a pull out sofa.
There is a fellowship hall that can seat up to 60 people. It also has a men's and women's bathroom. If a group would like to have an outdoor activity like an outdoor wedding, there is a large grassy area that can accommodate around 200 people in front of the building. In addition, there is a large kitchen for the group to cook all of their meals. The kitchen includes 2 stoves, 2 ovens, 2 refrigerators, 1 large double sink, and a serving area. This is a smoke free and alcohol free facility.
Tom and Betty moved from Florida to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains back in 1985. On this 35 acre "farm" various buildings were added as needed as churches asked to come and bring their youth and others on retreats. Their 3 sons were raised at the ranch and over the years many church groups and families have enjoyed the wholesome atmosphere at the ranch while taking advantage of the convenience of all the attractions of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smoky mountains located close by.
This property appealed to us because of it's proximity to Douglas Lake, and it's convenience to the attractions of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smokies while being able to come back to the quiet country setting of the ranch after a day of fun.
Mountain Lake Ranch is a great place to relax, enjoy activities whether on the lake nearby or on the grounds at our fishing pond, volleyball area, basketball in our gym, or a cozy bonfire. There is ample area for young people to run, play games and get some exercise. There are boat ramps a few miles in each direction, and within five miles are horseback riding stables, shopping and several golf courses.
We had a great time at our family reunion! This place was huge and allowed our family (30+) plenty of room to eat and play games together in the same rooms at the same time. Look forward to coming back again. The walk to the lake was a little longer than expected but the views were well worth it.
We stayed at the lodge for a family reunion with 40+ people. The large kitchen, serving area, dining room and big gathering room worked really well for our group. There was plenty of tables and chairs. There were more than enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all of us. The scenery is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed multiple walks to the lake and the kids enjoyed climbing the rocks by the lake and exploring along the way. The property was very clean and maintained. The owners were very helpful with details before and during our stay. We highly recommend staying here! Would also be great for youth group trips, too! We will be booking again for our next reunion!
