About Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kramer

We are the Kramer family. The ladies of this family had the opportunity of spending most of their lives in this little town. It has long been a dream to own a piece of it and we look forward to sharing those dreams with you.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kramer purchased this house in 2011

Why Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kramer chose Kanab

Featuring seven gables, missing siding and .3 acres of overgrown grape vines, fruit trees and gardens, the property had long been an eye sore to the community. The potential had to be seen from any prospective buyer, but to an individual yearning for a piece of home it was perfect.

Resting on a large corner lot with big old trees, well established fruits and and a large covered port this home was worth reclaiming.

In 2013 the remodel and upgrades began and the home is now ready to share.

What makes this house unique

Wrap around porches, sidewalks and shade trees make this a unique Kanab experience. Temperatures reach over 100 degrees in the summer, be prepared with this lay out.

Another wonderful feature of this home is its spa like atmosphere that hails in comparison to most local honeymoon suites. This home is a prime option for a small event or honeymoon getaway.

Each area of the home and property displays a unique feature and close attention to comfort and functionality.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Must I Share This Amazing Gem?

  • 5 of 5

I really do not what to share this review, I would like to keep this as "Kanab's best kept secret". Sigh, that would not be fair to others to experience this beautiful home.

I was schedule to stay for a week, unfortunately, my trip was cut short due to a family emergency and had to return home immediately. What this home did for me during the time I received news was provided comfort. This home was truly like "home away from home".

From the amazing views, to the large backyard, to the incredible design, to the details that were put into this....if there were 10 stars, 10 stars would be given.

I do hope to be able to return to Kanab and this home will be my first place to check for availability.

Oh wait! I am sorry, I meant this review for the house down several streets. Just joking, was trying to keep this home all to myself. Seriously, will not be disappointed when staying here, amazing!

Wonderful Home away from your real-life

  • 5 of 5

I rented this beautiful 3 bedroom home that is located, as it says, Right in the middle of town, for Western Legends. Was able to walk to the events in minutes and enjoy everything without fighting for a parking spot. The house is big enough for entertaining, inside and out. the House was wonderful, to say the least..

Convenient and comfortable for family of six

  • 4 of 5

Kanab is such a great town to stay in as a base to visit the Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce and so much more! This is super convenient to the town and close to great food. It is well appointed and comfortable. The front porch swing is a great place to relax in the evenings. The swamp cooler worked great in July but it is a little noisy. Our kids loved the house.

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place! My family and I visited Zion, Bryce, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. All easy drives from the house. We returned in the evenings to enjoy home cooked meals. It was lovely. Thanks for opening up your home for us to enjoy.

Nice place, lovingly improved, only a few kinks

  • 4 of 5

Stayed with wife, daughter (17) and son (14). Layout was very convenient. Only worry was the uncovered hole where the stairs descend from upstairs.

The house is clearly old, but much effort has been invested to update it, including convenient outlets for charging devices.

The ground are lovely, with fruit trees and grapes growing, and my daughter loved the piano!

The location is great. We loved walking into town for dinner and we were close to the grocery, park (only tennis courts for miles) and both stoplights :-).

Apple TVs are nice, but not at the expense of having access to traditional TV/cable networks.

A number of light bulbs were missing/burned out, and one of the Apple TV remotes seemed to have a dead battery (effectively rendering 1 TV useless).

Worse, the faucet cartridge in the downstairs (master) bath appears to be installed wrong, so there is a range of unreachable temperatures and very unusual control.

We were only there about 36 hours, so didn't give the owners a true opportunity to react.

Cute outside, went downhill rapidly

  • 1 of 5

We walked into this house with high expectations from the website. It was close to a funeral parlor look when we opened the door. Dark, dark furniture, sad, tired dark curtains on windows, no lighting except overhead on the fan which we detest. Two loveseats which were huge in stature but only sat 4 of the 6 members of the family. Old house with many quirks. Kitchen is large but non functional, very poor layout if family trying to share in cooking duties. Very uncomfortable pub chair and table if you are elderly which we are. Strange little room off the laundry room with a piano and it leads to the backyard. Tons of rotten apricots attracting bugs and ants so sitting in backyard was not pleasant. The W/D is beyond awesome. Very fast, modern and functional.

Downstairs bedroom is 3/4 wierd bathroom with a jetted tub but we could not find anyway to use the jetted feature. Again, inadequate lighting if you like to read in bed as we do. The linens were ok but really expected more from the description. Shower downstairs was adequate. 1/2 br on main level right next to dining table was useful but not pleasant. Oh, kitchen was stocked with odd things and really missing some essential things for cooking. Appliances mostly were old and cast off looking and not really functioning.

Swamp cooler is very cold and unable to regulate temperature. The low was still very cold.

House is indeed in middle of town. Easy to walk to many downtown attractions such as store, restaurants etc.

Upstairs is much more light filled. Again, no lighing for reading in bed. Upstairs shower is all upscale looking but half of the features did not work.

IF you bring your pets or IF you are volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and want to bring an animal home , BEWARE of all the whys and wherefores. Animals only allowed on non carpeted areas of house which essentially is kitchen. Not allowed on furniture on rugs.

Overall, just not very comfortable and felt like it was furnished and stocked with flea market finds and cast offs.

It is an old house but just not to our comfort level. Would never stay here again. Too many other VRBO's just a smidge out of town that look much more modern and accomodating which we will try on next visit to Best Friends.
