Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 2/3 Sleeps

A rare example of Art Deco Architecture - Rigorous refurbishment of an early 20th century's building in the historical suburb of San Mauro Torinese. (Turin) From its terrace you can see an amazing view of the entire landscape of the Alps, the hills of Turin, the Basilica of Superga, the gentle bend of the river.

Turin's city center is just a few minutes (by bus) or through a romantic bike path that runs along the river, starting from the Piazza just downstair the house. Shops, restaurants, a small supermarket a few steps. The flavor of a medieval village just minutes from Turin City center.

The House is a four floors building all served by a beautiful spiral staircase or by an internal elevator; therefore each room is also fully accessible to disabled people with wheelchairs.

The entrance is at street level with a large iron gate and a small courtyard in which is possible to park a motorbike or bicycles. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall with a large wardrobe, a laundry room with washing machine and dryer, a bathroom with shower.

At the second floor is situated a large kitchen, with a table for 4 people and a lovely relaxation area, easily convertible into a bed for one extra person, when needed.

The third floor is the bedroom , furnished with a gorgeous double bed and with his own second elegant bathroom with shower as well. In this room is wall mounted a TV LED 37 ' with all Channels of SKY television to comfortably watch TV from the bed.

On the fourth floor there is the living area, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the village, an unique - 180 degrees view of the Torino Hill, the River Po, Turin and the frame of the Alps.

The space has also an Home cinema set, with a 55' screen, Epson HD beamer, Yamaha Surround and Marantz HIFI devices.

I would recommend this location to anyone is looking for a romantic holiday in a unique Historical residence completely out of the normal accommodation, with the possibility to combine beautiful walks or riding a bicycle, but at the same time to reach the city center in a few minutes by bus, by bicycle or by your own car.

A large public parking is available just below the house, so no parking fees.

The area is very quite and safe. By the way, the building is protected by a high-end safety alarm with IR sensors and broadcasting alert.

Upon request, we can provide two bicycles for free.

About Marco Vincenzo

I'm a procurement manager. Have been traveling all my life and I know almost well how it is important hospitality, no matter if we talk about a private property or hotel.

I like arts, music and meet People.

Marco Vincenzo purchased this house in 2003

Why Marco Vincenzo chose San Mauro Torinese

I own this property because I fall in love with it some years ago.

It was almost destroyed and I took a look at it almost every day on the way home. When I saw it was on sale, I realized that it asks me to be bought and restored ! So I did that. After years of hard work, it has been refurbished as the original 1923' drawings. I have received many appraisals and appreciation from the local community and Architects for give it a new life.

What makes this house unique

The house is a rare example of art deco style, quite unusual to find in a small Village like San Mauro Torinese, just few km away of Turin's city center. Interiors are furnished and equipped with high end appliances and style pieces.

It has a dramatic overlooking on a beautiful bend of Po river and the whole Alps. Perfect for a romantic escape

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were a group of 3 adults with a baby and found Marco's apartment a great and exciting place. Ideal to explore Turin and the area. The pictures and description give a good impression; the house is unique and beautiful, well designed and thought out, with plenty of nice details to discover. It was a pleasure to stay in the house. Full kitchen, well equipped, laundry machine and dryer, well working internet connection. The town 'San Mauro' is also charming. Bakery, cafes and supermarket in walking distance. There's a bus that runs every 10 minutes that goes to Turin center that we always took (once we even walked). Parking is available around the house and free. Marco was a fantastic host. We contacted Marco on short notice, and very happy he had space for us. He was very responsive and helpful, even provided us with a baby bed. Marco, thanks a lot for everything, it was a great experience!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful rental because it is their city home. It has great access to everything with the bus to Turin just outside the door, the fresh open markets across the street, a grocery you can walk to , easy parking for your car, and a wonderful host and hostess. We felt at home immediately. The house is beautifully renovated with all the modern amenities. Very special.

House with real character in a great village-like location.

  • 5 of 5

What we really liked about the house was the ease of doing so many great activities nearby - gelato right across the street, a walk to the market twice a week, a quick bike ride to a beautiful quiet park, a short easy drive to the wine & truffle country or to the Alps.

And the bustling village San Mauro was really worth exploring, and you're dead in the center. You will enjoy details such as a dairy farmer direct- vending machine which sells cheese, yogurt and milk. A stroll over the scenic bridge on the weekend was social and gorgeous! A morning walk along the river in the mist was timelessly dramatic. We saw a Mass for public servants in uniform and a Holy Day of family cemetery visits during our stay. These are things that photographs cannot really capture.

Marco could not have been a better host. He really cares about and knows how to give his guests having a great experience. (Thank You)

Wonderful apartments, fabulous host and convenient to Torino

  • 5 of 5

There is little I can add to the other glowing reviews about this apartment and Marco. Our stay was perfect. Marco certainly went above and beyond to assist us during our stay - guiding us from the airport, giving us numerous tips and even giving us a tour of Veneria Reale. Marco is the most generous host we have ever met. The apartment is quite a delight from all perspectives. The the interior design is quite impressive with lots of natural light and it is amazing to see how Marco created such wonderful spaces in a small building. French doors open on every floor to let in the fresh air and the small balcony on the top level is perfect for a sunny colazione or evening aperitif. The small village of San Mauro is only a 30 minute ride from Torino on the #61 bus which runs until the wee hours. You can also bike to Torino if you want along a bike trail. You can drive to Torino and there is easy parking - depending on the day. One day when we were out exploring, we left our car parked in another town and took a shorter bus ride into the city. The village has at least one of every type of store you may need. This was the perfect place for us and we would definitely come back again. Thanks Marco for all you did for us!

Fabulous house in cosy village

  • 5 of 5

Let's start with the welcome from Marco, who picked me up at night from the airport bus and gave me a guided tour of the house, having thoughtfully filled the fridge with essentials so that I could eat the next day.

The house itself is wonderful, spread over four small floors, each lovingly designed as part of an extensive restoration to former glory of a special house. It is on the main drag of San Mauro, and if you stay a while, you will begin to recognize people. There are plenty of cafes, a gelato shop very nearby, a Friday-morning market, that make you feel immersed in the community, without anyone intruding on your privacy.

I was there for a meeting in Turin and took the 61 bus into town each day - you can buy tickets in advance in any paper shop and validate them onboard. It's a frequent service that starts before 6am to after midnight so you will not need a car. There is also a path along the Po river that will bring you into town, and Marco has a bike you can use for this purpose. The path/trail is always full of people walking, running, enjoying the views and the clean air, and at no time did I feel unsafe or crowded.

The house itself is very comfortable and well furnished. You have a private entrance in a small courtyard.

The laundry room on the ground floor has a washer, dryer, and a separate drying rack and rinsing sink. There is a full bathroom on this floor for times you are too grimy to go upstairs.

On the next floor, there is nothing you can think of in the kitchen that isn't there, including a dish washer, microwave, conventional oven, kettle, Italian coffee pot, stove top (gas), all the crockery and pots you can imagine. A very comfortable chair allows you to lounge around with your morning coffee.

Next is the bedroom/master bath. Everything is comfortable, and there is an A/C unit if it gets too warm (I didn't need it despite its being unseasonably warm when I visited). You can open windows all over the property, creating good airflow.

On the top floor you have a rec room to lounge around and listen to music and, my favorite part, sit out on the terrace and look at people, the river, the hills.

It really was a treat staying in Marco's house. The logistics of getting into town appeared a bit off-putting but it is not at all difficult, and the bus dumps you anywhere you want, from the Piazza Veneto at the grand entrance to Turin to the train station further south.

Best location just outside Torino!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time traveling to Italy. The best decision I made was to stay just outside of Turin. San Mauro is a great community. This house was amazing! Marco is a great host and was able to assist me with all my needs. The community parking for my car was good and very close by with no worries of my rental car. This house is beautiful, interior is decorated to make you feel right at home. The views from the multiple little balconies and French doors were amazing with the river on one side and the Alps on the other. The eating terrace on the top floor will just take your breath away with the view. Television and movie entertainment at night was the best. Everything needed in the kitchen and I was able to do my laundry also. First impressions are everything on your first visit to Italy and I will NEVER forget this trip! It was worth every penny I spent and I will be back again in the future. An amazing and awesome experience!

The Best Vacation Ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

It if are considering going to Italy, Torino will provide the best of Italy, this house will be the best place to stay, and Marco will be the most gracious host. Everyday we comment on what a wonderful stay we had at the house. It is perfect for a couple looking for a romantic get-a-way. Every night we sat on the balcony and gazed at the Po River. In the mornings we would drink tea while we viewed the snow over Alps. The house is furnished with the best of everything and Marco, our host, was most helpful. It was a treat to stay in a beautiful village with the city of Torino only a few minutes away. No need for a car; the public transportation is excellent. You will love staying here!!

Owner's Response: I am very happy that your stay was to your satisfaction and that you fully enjoyed the strengths that distinguish the house: location, (so close to the city center, but with tranquility of the village) the beautiful views of the Alps and Po river and the attention to details. You've been excellent Guests and we hope to see you again one day.
