4 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, sleeps 8, 2 blocks to Madison River, 1 block off Main St

Family and friends will feel right at home in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of this renovated one and a half story, early 20th century cottage style residence. First floor has a large living room, wood flooring, and fully equipped kitchen and full bath. There are two bedrooms on the first floor – one with a full-size bed, the other with bunk beds. The carpeted upstairs has two bedrooms, each with twin beds. There is also a children's bed, (under 5') in the room between the two bedrooms across from a half bath. The pull out sofa downstairs offers additional sleeping space when needed. The house has accommodations for sleeping 8, however, having one shower, the house is best suited for smaller groups. A large enclosed front porch is prefect for evening gatherings. The enclosed side sun porch works well for drying waders and gear storage. A wood deck in the backyard is shaded by a large mountain ash tree. Satellite TV, and high-speed Internet. Fenced yard for your pet. Walls feature original landscape paintings by artist/owner, Greg Bombeck, and nationally known 'plein air' artists, Jean LaGassick and Ron Rencher.

Cindy and Greg Bombeck made Montana their home in the early 1970's before moving to Alaska. After 30 years in the "Great Land" they purchased the Steffens Street House to be nearer children and grand children who live in the inner mountain region.

Great home close to incredible fly fishing.

Greg and Cindy's home was a wonderful place to spend our week in Montana. Their home was furnished with everything needed to live comfortably. The front enclosed porch/patio was where we spent the majority of our time. It was very hot the week we were there, so being able to enjoy the fresh air but out of the sun made the daytime hours much more enjoyable. Being able to drive 2 miles to quite possibly the best fly fishing that I have experienced, was heaven.

The house fit 6 us of comfortably and Greg was very quick to respond to any questions that I had.

We would definitely stay here again the next time we are heading to Ennis.

Group leader of our hunting party.

We all enjoyed our stay and thought it was just like being home. Good, well equipped house and handy to down town with only a short drive to our hunting area. Enjoyed our stay and look forward to hunting the area again and hopefully staying in Greg's house!

Tired property that sleeps a lot of people. Good wifi and location

Pluses: great wifi, sleeps 6-7 people comfortably, nice screened porch, laundry in basement, plenty of towels, proximity to Ennis's main drag.

Minuses: one shower for 6-8 people, no a/c, Windows missing screens, shower faucet handle broken, refrigerator doesn't close well and has trouble cooling, full/queen bed mattress needs replacement, noisy rubber mattress protectors on twin beds, no blankets upstairs, only one key supplied by owner, general disrepair.

I texted the owner on the first night regarding some of the issues, but received no response. It's clear that this property has been a rental for a while.

Owner's Response: This guest's subjective assessment is without merit as evidenced by other guests' ratings and reviews. Apparently this guest did not read the property description prior to renting. Why rent a house for 8 and then complain about having only one shower? The house is clean, well kept, and in good working order. (The shower faucet, having been damaged during this guest's stay, has been replaced.)

HOMEY RETREAT IN DOWNTOWN ENNIS

My brothers and I have been coming to Ennis for the last twenty years in a row and were quite pleased to find this house available. The rates are quite reasonable and the place had true feeling of home staying there. The beds were super comfortable and with four of us we had plenty of room to spread out. It was also nice to be able to walk to dinner at the Gravel Bar, or breakfast at the Pharmacy. The river is right around the corner and the fishing was fantastic. Mr. Bombeck was also extremely accommodating as well,: he even sent me some fishing pictures of a true monster his son caught earlier this year. I would highly recommend staying here, whether you are group of trout junkies or a vacationing family.

Located one block off Main Street in downtown Ennis, MT. Ennis (Pop. 838) is located in the heart of the Madison Valley. House is 2 blocks from the Madison River, world famous blue ribbon trout stream. Nearby; wildlife viewing, golf, biking, hiking – and the numerous outdoor pursuits for which Montana is famous. Old west saloons on main street, along with art galleries and antique shops. Great childrens' park with trout pond. (Fishing for the 12 and under crowd.)
