A private apartment with a full kitchen, sitting area and tv room.2 beautifully decorated bedrooms on the second floor each with a bath:a private porch and gazebo with the most incredible expansive sunset views.total 'english charm'; bikes and kayaks available;driving distance to St.Michaels,Easton and Oxford with all its wonderful shops and restaurants and then return to the quiet of a cottage on the bay.The Bellevue ferry(the oldest privately owned running ferry in the US) is only a bikeride away!
There is a queen bed with an adjoining full bath and a full bed ensuite. I also provide a twin and a full air mattress if needed. The apt accommodates two couples and or a small family beautifully. Larger gatherings are welcome but it is a bit tight!
We built this home in 1990 and have added on a couple of times in the last 8 years. Our family, three sons and many friends have loved this special spot for weekends and summers for over 20 years now:many wonderful memories have been created catching crabs, boating, biking and long walks along private country roads.simply watching the most spectacular sunsets is reason enough to come!
ann holladay purchased this apartment in 1990
my husband grew up in Baltimore and spent summers around the chesapeake,so after getting married in 1979,we started visiting this well familiar area and fell in love with this particular spot.We loved the expansive views over Broad Creek with the most amazing sunsets night after night. We have enjoyed many family and individual bike outings, often to Oxford via the Bellevue ferry and lunch, dinner and shopping is a short distance away, with many lovely offerings no matter what direction you go.
we built our home around the sensational views of expansive water and huge horizons showcasing the most incredible sunsets throughout the year. One can sit and simply look at the glistening water, the expansive starry sky,the ospreys building their nest while listening to the songs of the various birds and other wildlife. It's wonderful to be away but yet so close to excellent restaurants and local tourist attractions ;to have the choice of going out or staying in and grilling and eating in the gazebo and then watching a movie(wonderful assortment provided!)and ending the night under the stars!Did I mention the incredible sunsets??????:)
The cottage was very nice, clean, and well decorated. It has all the amenities we needed for a quiet weekend away. The property is great, nice views and huge waterfront. We had fun despite the lousy weather on our trip.
Wow. That's all I have to say. Gorgeous property. Lovely home. Charming, clean, cozy, beautiful grounds. Ann, the host, left a note & delicious loaf of homemade banana bread for us - what a nice added touch. The only disappointment was that we had so little time to enjoy the property itself! Before we even left, my girlfriends & I were already talking about when we could come back & stay here again! Six of us fit very comfortably in the space. For once, my expectations were far exceeded! And Ann was very responsive to any questions I had beforehand, and was always a delight. :)
We had a very relaxing time here. The house is well-kept and has everything that you need for a weekend away. Within driving distance to downtown St. Michaels and other local spots. Ann was responsive, flexible and welcoming (including leaving her homemade banana bread). Overall, we had a great time and hope to visit again soon.
My fiancé and I were in St. Michaels Maryland for a family wedding and we stayed at the Morningstar Cottage for the weekend. We were so glad that we decided to stay here rather than in one of the hotels in Easton. The cottage is absolutely adorable and impeccably appointed. And to top it off, you just cannot get a better view. We thoroughly enjoyed those inviting adirondack chairs sitting down by the waters edge. We were in a great location for the wedding venue and it was only a 15 minute drive to the town of St. Michaels, which we fell in love with. We hope to visit again next year!!! Thank you Ann for sharing your beautiful property with us and hope to see you again.

This is such a fabulous place in a perfect location if you're seeking quiet, tranquil waters of the bay but close proximity to amazing dining, shopping, and the sites of the region. We flew in for a relatively short stay recently, me, my wife and our 12 and 10 yr old kids. Spent time at the Delaware State Fair and also poking around St Michaels (10 minute) and Easton (15 minutes) and the other charming small towns in the area. The accommodations are really great. A 2-story private cottage, attached to the main house, but completely private by virtue of a long galley hallway that completely divides it from the main house. So total solitude. Full kitchen, comfortable dining and seating, all the amenities you need, beautiful yard, dock, everything. Two large comfortable bedrooms were perfect for the 4 of us, but more sleeping accommodations were possible in other parts of the cottage. Ann, the hottest, was awesome. Fresh baked banana bread greeted us when we arrived (sorry Ann, hope that doesn't put you on the hook now for every other guest)...but really, such a great place. 2 kayaks allowed us to roam the inlets, view the hawk nests, and catch live crabs all over the bay. Amazing sunsets and entire families of deer roaming the surrounding area in early evenings were just icing on the banana bread. Thanks Ann for a short, but wonderful stay, can't wait to return for a longer run.
Our party was four adults and one toddler. We enjoyed playing in the yard, taking out the kayaks, grilling, and using the fire pit. The owner was incredibly flexible with check-in and check-out times and very nice when we saw her. The location was absolutely georgeous and very private. Wifi was a bit spotty and no dishwasher. Overall experience was fabulous!
