About David Hibbard

Together for 20 years, we been lucky to have the best of both worlds, the hustle and bustle of big city living in NYC and the peaceful, calm energy of lakefront living. We've had the great pleasure of sharing our home with friends and family over the years, but with life getting busier and busier these days, we have now decided to extend the opportunity to others and share our slice of heaven.

David Hibbard purchased this house in 1996

Why David Hibbard chose West Milford

We were pursing the perfect lakefront weekend home and retreat away from the fast paced Manhattan life. We searched a 75 mile radius map of NYC and honed in on motorboat lakes. We drove to each and every one from CT to upstate NY and found the perfect spot in New Jersey. Upper Greenwood Lake was the ideal distance, (one hour door to door, bridge or tunnel without traffic!) remote yet easily accessible to many amenities, from quaint towns to easy access to grocery stores and big box stores (even they have their benefits). The home provides a relaxed serene retreat with down home comfort.

What makes this house unique

Upper Greenwood Lake is a private motorboat lake which is virtually silent weekdays and boasts the perfect energy on weekends! Lakefront views with private dock and swimming cove. Comes with many amenities and comforts for the perfect getaway.

Lovely Relaxing Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented this lovely lakefront property as an extension to our annual family apple picking weekend and could not have been more pleased. For years we drove from Long Island to Warwick and last year Waze took us past the lake in order to avoid traffic on 17. The kids and grandparents were enchanted and we made a decision to make a long weekend out of it this year. Finding David and the lakehouse was perfect. All had a grand time from the 3 year old to the 74 year old (5 adults and 3 kids). David and Charlie have thought of everything you need, the fire pit on cool nights, watching the sun rise and set over the lake, coffee on the deck, games in the living room and great dinners in the kitchen with windows overlooking the property made for wonderful memories. Thank you!

Cozy family weekend

  • 5 of 5

My family had such a nice long weekend! The house and property were exactly as described on vrbo - clean, comfortable and well supplied. David communicated before and after our stay, and there were detailed instructions at the house so no need to chat with him over the weekend, although he made himself available if needed.

The area has grocery stores and other necessities, but if you rent here, plan to just stay home and enjoy the lake and the house. It's all you'll need for a relaxing getaway.

Owner's Response: Thanks Janet!~ I feel the exact same way! Although there's plenty to do in the town of Warwick, a winery/ Pennings Beer Garden and Cidery/ tons of restaurants... I find it hard to venture past my own back yard! It's truly heaven! Thanks again, David

Great family time

  • 5 of 5

Went to celebrate and enjoy the last days of summer with our two boys and had an amazing time. The house was everything we needed and more. It was clean and well maintained. Our boys had a blast jumping off the dock, canoeing, swimming, fishing and roasting marshmallows. We had a great family time. Would recommend.

Perfect lakeside retreat

  • 5 of 5

The house was awesome! Views of the lake were breathtaking. House was spotlessly clean. The owners were very kind and easy to work with and get a hold of with questions. I can't say enough good things about the owners and the house. (I didn't want to leave -ha!) They were pet-friendly and even had dog toys to borrow, plus lots of toys for the humans too. The location is perfect between Warwick and Greenwood, and right in Hewitt is a great deli and yoga studio. And West Milford has lots also. I would HIGHLY recommend this gorgeous property!

Gorgeous Property

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girls weekend. The direct lake access was amazing with our own dock. We didn't realize the homeowner provided a canoe and floats so we brought our own. We spent as much time down in the water as possible. They have built stairs going down into the lake so getting in and out is easy, which I imagine would be ideal if you were vacationing with children. The backyard has all you could wish for, a gorgeous deck to sit out on with rocking chairs and bunches of nice lawn furniture and an outdoor fire place. There was a hammock down by the water that one girl took a nap in, it basically hangs over the water! Down by the dock, there was another fire pit which we had intended on using but we got rained out. The house is light and bright with TONS of windows which we had open the whole weekend. David really makes sure you could have all you need and more there. Anything you need in the kitchen to cook and a dishwasher. You're able to use the washing machine if you need, just go easy on the water because it's not municipal water and comes from a well. All of the amenities that were listed by the homeowner were accurate and I think they even left some off the list! The house was clean and was well taken care of. All of the bathrooms were clean as well as the kitchen and the beds were pretty comfortable. There is a Stop & Shop and liquor store 20 minutes up the road so you can load up on all you need and not have to take too long of a drive. The best place though was Rooster Cafe Bistro which was amazing! We grabbed brunch there on our way back home and were blown away by the quality of the food and customer service. If you're in the area, definitely stop by there for at least 1 meal. All in all, we would love to come back some time because some terrific memories were made here! If you rent this property, you will not regret it.
