The vacation property had everything we needed so you really only need to show up with your personal items and groceries then you're good to go. Denny was very helpful and wonderful to work with from start to finish. Thanks Denny!
We loved our stay at George's Guest House. The only thing it lacks is a washer and dryer. Thank you Denny Miller. The best.
The house was perfect for our girlfriends weekend. It has a great deck to relax on. The owner is a very sweet lady that lives next door and property manager was great to work with. The house was very clean and had a good assortment of kitchen items. The trees blocked most of the ocean, but we had glimpses and a great breeze. We had everything we needed and the weather was beautiful. We would definitely rent it again.
We had a wonderful stay in this beach home. The view, the ocean breeze, and the sound of the waves crashing made it so nice. We fell asleep listening to the waves from our room. The beds were very comfortable.
We enjoyed cooking meals in the house in a well stocked kitchen, and eating outside on the beautiful deck. Located about 8 miles from the town center, and very private, quiet, and relaxing. We are a family of 3 (our daughter is 17 years old) and this home fit us perfectly. Great selection of interesting books to read, and although we didn't have time, there were some cool jigsaw puzzles that we would have liked to try to put together.
The décor, furniture, and the house overall was absolutely spotless when we arrived. Everything was so inviting, and comfortable. Great place to come together as a family, and reconnect from 3 hectic schedules. Great selection of TV channels, and movies.
Our family of four had the pleasure of staying at this great guest house. We all loved it! There are some great books to read along with an amazing deck to relax and take in the views. We were minutes from the beach which made it extremely easy. My kids loved this house so much they want us to stay forever! Thank you for an amazing family vacation!

This private guest house sits in a pine forest about half way between Gold Beach and Port Orford. Gold Beach is where the Rogue River meets the sea. In the 1890's the mouth of the Rogue River was lined with salmon gill netters and gold prospectors. The Rogue could only be crossed with horse drawn ferries. Today the picturesque historic Patterson Bridge (cir. 1931) has replaced the ferries and the canneries are now home to shops, museums, charter fishing trips, restaurants, and jet boat tours. Jet Boat trips are a must do activity guaranteed to be remembered forever. Whether taking a jet boat ride (May 1-October15) or striking out on your own the Rogue River valley is a nature lovers paradise with Bald Eagles, Osprey, King Fishers, loons, ducks, blue herron, cranes and eas gulls all working the salmon rich waters. Elk, deer, mink and river otters are commonly seen on the shores edge with black bear popping up unexpectedly.
Salmon fishing is a favorite passion from early April to mid October. Thirty, forty and some fifty pounders are common catches even though catching a 20 pound salmon also will not soon be forgotten. The life cycles and types of salmon in the Rogue, along with history of gold mining, canneries, logging and past native traditions are well presented at the free museum at the Port in Jerry's Jet Boats Gift Shop. The Indian Creek Fish Hatchery (2 miles up Jerry's Flat Road, North bank) releases tens of thousands of salmon into the Rogue River via Indian Creek to help rebuild Chinook Salmon populations. Tours are available. If you are looking for condo lined beaches with plastic imported souvenirs go further north, but for hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking, bird watching, romantic beach walks at sunset and Oregon at its best.....Gold Beach is a recommended destination. Several restaurants from fast food to culinary delights are available in town. Enjoy!!!
Port Orford is the oldest town on the Oregon Coast (est. 1885) and is also the most westerly town in the lower 48 states. While this small village is known to be 'quirky' there is nothing odd about the natural and historical attractions that await your discovery.
The Port at Port Orford is unique from most you may have seen. The bay is too small and unprotected for mooring so the boats are stored on land and lowered to the sea with a crane. This 'Dolly Dock' is one of only two in the U.S. The port is also home to a live fish supplier. Salt water tanks line the dock to accept the live catches of the day before they ship to restaurants around the nation. You can also see the tuna, black cod, ling cod, rock fish and many other species being unloaded from the boats. If your timing is right fresh fish can be purchased. At the Port be sure to sample the local seafood at Griffs, not fancy but good food, they also have a fresh fish market.
Visit Battle Rock on the south end of town in the visitor center parking lot.
At the top of Beacon Hill you will find the Port Orford Lifesaving Station Museum, and 1890's U.S. Coast Guard encampment. Views from the many hiking paths are outstanding and the history fascinating.
Garrison lake is adjacent to the beach north of the port. This freshwater lake is loaded with bass and trout, perfect for kayaks and canoes. There are several boat launches on the lake. Agate Beach is just on the other side of the dunes that boarder the lake. Agate Beach is a place where and entire day can disappear as you listen to the thunderous crashing waves while watching sea birds land on the sea stacks. Paddle over to the dunes and walk on the beach collecting handfuls of agates or just sit and watch our beautiful Southern Oregon sunsets.
There are several art galleries and restaurants in the sleepy village that far exceed what you might expect in the larger cities.
A few miles north of Port Orford is Cape Blanco Light House (cir. 1870) the oldest light house on the Oregon Coast. Tours of the light house are available (April-October).
