Within a half hours drive, you can get to Napa and all that is on offer there.
The climate here in Wine Country is one of the areas many distinguishing features. We have stunning sunny and dry weather for most of the year, making Sonoma County so very popular with vacationers. People come to Wine Country to experience our local food and wine culture, as well as our stunning scenery, trails and mountain biking.
Choosing Wine Country Retreat as your vacation home will allow you to experience Wine Country the way the locals do. Jacqui, the owner of this property is forever visiting the local wineries and collecting free tasting vouchers for her guests to enjoy.
Jacqui was born and raised in East Lothian Scotland. She had a very successful career in the travel and tourism industry in Edinburgh for twenty five years! In 2009, Jacqui, her husband Andrew and their two sons were given the opportunity to move to Sonoma County and the rest was history!
The whole family fell in love with this stunningly beautiful part of California and wanted to share it's beauty with their nearest and dearest. When choosing their new home, they decided to buy a property that would allow for just that. Nestled in the beautiful Skyhawk area is their home with Wine Country Retreat, right on the property.
Jacqui Smail purchased this cottage in 2009
The moment I saw this property, I knew it was the one for us. It was love at first sight. I never tire of the location, the mountain views, or the bright airy feel. The choice of food and wine options are endless. We love how close it is to Annadel Park and Spring Lake where we enjoy walking.
The location of Wine Country Retreat is superb. The open views are quite stunning and the host is so friendly and welcoming. The property is spotlessly clean and bright. Our linens are of superior quality and the space is bright, comfortable, clean and private.
Wine Country Retreat has only been open since May 2014 and already I have stayed twice! I have family in this area and come to visit often, but like my own space and what an adorable space this is. If you are looking for a charming little guest house, that is very clean, in a great location and with a delightful host. Then this is the one for you.
The Wine Country Retreat is a great place to stay in Santa Rosa. It is an attached cottage on the side of the garage, separated from the main house. It was quiet and peaceful, and you'd never know anyone was living next door so close. It is in a great location for wine tasting day trips- very close to St. Francis Winery, and it's just a short drive to the Russian River Valley, Sebastopol restaurants (we highly recommend Hole in the Wall by the way), and convenient to downtown Santa Rosa. The neighborhood is very nice and well-kept. The cottage has everything you'll need. We'll likely be back for another visit in 2017!
This is our first experience with a VRBO in the US. It was perfect! The place is immaculate has Jacqui has added many personal touches. We loved it and will definately be back. It felt like home!
We've stayed at this property several times in the last four years, and each time has been a wonderful experience. Jacqui is a perfect, friendly host. On our first visit, there was a sizeable earthquake in the morning hours, and she came by before lunch to make sure we were ok, and that everything in the cottage was working and in good condition (we were, and it was!). When we arrived in December last year, there was even a Christmas tree which thrilled our kids no end. We've stayed there with our elder child twice, and added our new baby the last two visits. That she provides a pack n play is very helpful: one less thing to pack! The property is always well-maintained and comfortable; it's well-lit, the AC works seamlessly, and the view from the deck is lovely. The location was perfect for us, only 10 minutes from Oakmont, where my parents lived. I would absolutely recommend the Wine Country Cottage to anyone looking for a cozy home away from home while in the area. You won't be disappointed.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Wine Country Retreat! Jacqui is a wonderful host and is always available but never intrusive. The location of the home is perfect. In a lovely residential neighborhood with beautiful views, but minutes to vineyards, restaurants, and shopping. The rental property is furnished beautifully, has every amenity you need. It is white-glove clean! We took advantage of one of free tasting coupons offered, which sent us on a wonderful odyssey to multiple vineyards. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We look forward to getting back for another visit. One very important thing to note, although it was not an issue for us, if you have any mobility challenges, this property is very accessible with no stairs and a barrier-free walk in shower. Overall rating....5 stars++.
My mom and I stayed here for three nights. We were in town for family affairs and Wine Countey Retreat was the perfect spot for us to relax and lay our heads. Jacqui is a wonderful, kind and thoughtful hostess that made us feel very welcome. The cottage has everything you need, is quiet and has a lovely view. There were only two of us, however, 4 people would be very comfortable here. We highly recommend staying at Wine Country Retreat.
The property is beautiful! Easy to find, and she has notes everywhere telling you where things are and how they work. The place is immaculate and she has thought of everything. There are pantry staples, coffee, tea, and she even had juice, milk, and a lovely bottle of wine to welcome me. She stopped by to make sure I had everything I needed and was so friendly, warm and welcoming. It's also nice that she is so environmentally-aware and has a lot of things that are eco and green. The location is great and the place itself is very spacious. I will definitely be back (if it's not booked!)!
