My name is Chris Bishop and I actually grew up in TN. I met the Bradshaw family several yrs ago when I came to Illinois to deer hunt. I fell in love with the Bradshaws hospitality and wonderful family values. After seeing the beauty of their land and the lodge, I knew I had to find a way to make Bradshaw properties a way of my life. Since then, I have made it my career. I own a hunting Outfit in which I use all Bradshaw property and I manage the lodge during the off seasons as well. The Bradshaw property is all owned by either a Dad, Mom, Aunt, Uncle, son or grandson of some sort. It has been in the family for centuries and will continue to be for yrs to come. The Bradshaws themselves and I all live on the property we manage. We are always just a few minutes away if anyone ever needs us for anything at all.
The main reason I chose to move to this area and start my life here was the beauty of the land and the hospitality of all the people around. The deer hunting is out of this world and the crime rate is one of the lowest in the United States. Everyone here is always willing to give the shirt off their back to help a neighbor out.
The Bradshaws themselves grew up as young kids all the way to the muture adults they are now. All are very successful and make their living off the land or in some type of farming. The lodge actually started out as a Bradshaw bachelor pad. It started small and over the yrs they just kept adding more and more rooms and porches onto it. Now it has turned into one of the most beautiful lodges in the county. As far as myself, what drew me to the place was the amazing amount of deer and the sincere beauty and seclusion of the place. It makes me feel like i have my own little piece of heaven here on earth.
Absolutely amazing place inside and out. Had more than enough things to do. Gorgeous views and a great place to spend a weekend with family friends and anyone you could think of.
We had a week long family reunion with 14 adults and 24 grandchildren. There were beds for everyone and plenty to do. The grandkids enjoyed living at the lake with the paddle boat and kayaks. The adults enjoyed fishing, visiting in the air-conditioned cabin, target practicing with bows and rifles, and relaxing. There was plenty of room for us all to have a place to sit and eat when it was time and the grocery stores nearby weren't too bad of a drive when we were ready for more food. The walk-in cooler was wonderful as well as the 2 refrigerators for storing all of the food and it was great to have 3 laundry rooms when clothes needed a wash and a 2-minute commercial dishwasher after meals. The grassy areas were perfect for 3-legged races, gunny sack races, marshmallow gun wars, and water balloon fun. We loved having spacious living spaces for watching movies, playing with toys, doing crafts, having a lip sync battle, and playing games. We live all over the U.S. and this central location was the perfect place to meet, relax, and enjoy our time together without having to go anywhere else to be entertained. It was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this property for any number of vacations with friends or relatives!
We stayed here for my mom and dad's 60th wedding anniversary. While clearly a favorite for groups of hunters, this place is also ideal for family reunions. It's roomy, air conditioned, with lots of comfortable places to talk, play games and very importantly, eat together as a family. There is plenty of space for outdoor activities like kickball games plus swimming and kayaking. I would highly recommend it!
We enjoyed our stay at the Buck Chasers Lodge. We had 20 people ages from 5 to 84. Lots of room for everyone. The dining area was great so that everyone could eat together. The lake was great fun for everyone. The large lounge room was fun for TV watchers, game players and puzzle people. The little ones enjoyed having their own loft area where they played Barbie's and had cars and trucks out on the floor to play with when they wanted. Lots of sleeping area. The Kitchen was well supplied with appliances and utensils. Yard scrabble was played on the lawn. All of the little ones and some big ones caught fish. The grounds were all very well maintained. Enjoyed very much and maybe plan on attending next year. The price is great for all of the things that are available for lots of family.
We've been there the last two years and love it. It's just a great place to hang out with family and friends.
Amazing place to stay. It was described perfectly and had plenty of room for large groups. Staff was very friendly and helpful when needed. Shot clays into the pond went fishing and was even able to get the paddle boat and kayak on the water the first day. Second day it rained on and off most of the day but it was a big enough area nobody felt cooped up. We will be back.
Our beautiful 3 story lodge feels as though your millions of miles from nowhere but yet still within 15 minutes of plenty rural attractions. We also have numerous fairs in each county during certain times of the yr, A fantastic Restaurant right on the Illinois river called the Boatel within 25 minutes of the lodge, plenty of morrell mushrooms which this state is know for, tons of rock bottom creeks for those of you that love to look for Geods, and some of the best deer viewing in all of Illinois. We have over 50 deer per square mile, so seeing a ton of deer is never a problem. Our lodge offers all the privacy and seclusion a person could ask for along with being just minutes away from town.
