Owners and Innkeepers Monica and William Poloronis are passionate about Apalachicola and keeping it's rich history. William was born and raised here and brought Monica to the area in 1981. Together they own Poloronis Construction Inc, specializing in commercial construction and renovating. They have two beautiful daughters, 2 handsome sons-in-law and 4 amazing grandchildren.
When this historic building first went on the market, most people wouldn't have given it a second glance. But, Monica and William saw this 'diamond in the rough'. They saw the potential and began plans to turn this 'tin shed' into something truly magical.
Location, Location, Location! You don't need a car to explore here. You can walk or ride a bike around town and explore local restaurants, shops, museums, and more. The unique rustic chic design of the Baltimore House and Riverwood Suites make it a one-of-a-kind experience. The attention to detail m is visible from the moment you step inside. The Innkeepers have kept the original rustic charm but added the modern amenities to keep your comfortable.
We stayed in the Sea Glass Suite for two nights for our 24th anniversary. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The property couldn't be any more conveniently located and it is just perfect the way it is set up. You never feel crowded and you have everything you need. Monica is a perfect hostess. We would highly recommend this place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Sea Glass Suite. Monica offered first class service throughout the booking and arrival process. The suite was gorgeously decorated with plush and moderns amenities. The furnishings and decor bring together comfort and a stylish blend of a chic and earthy feel. The kitchette was just perfect for light meal or snack preparation. The courtyard was beautiful and relaxing. Riverwood was a convenient base for us to explore SGI, St. Joes, Cape San Blas and of course the artsy town of Apalachicola.
My husband and I absolutely love spending time in Florida's Forgotten Coast, and even more so now that we have found the perfect place to stay. Riverwood Suites is a unique boutique inn, with amenities that feel more like home than a hotel! Innkeeper Monica went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was nothing short of wonderful, (We really like that all accommodation details are handled via email and text. We were tired when we arrived, so it was really nice that we could just let ourselves into our suite without having to go through a check-in process.) so much so, that we are already planning to return just as soon as we can. When I told Monica that I have life threatening allergies to dust mites, and asked that she leave extra linens so that we could change the sheets ourselves on the second night of our stay, she went so far as to leave extra bedding, in a zippered bag, that had been sanitized, and, on top of that, she steam cleaned the floor, something that would never have happened had we stayed at a chain hotel. Because Monica went above and beyond, I was able to relax like I never have before on vacation. When I made our reservation with Monica, over the phone, she asked if we drank coffee, cocoa or tea. I responded by saying that my husband is a huge coffee drinker, and she supplied a generous amount of coffee, tea, cream and sugar for us to use. The bathroom was stocked with a very nice selection of quality personal care essentials that were so nice we decided to use them instead of what we brought from home. There were also plenty of nice and fluffy, white, towels. It may seem like a small thing, but the towels didn’t smell or feel like “hotel” towels, which was such a nice touch. We booked the Seaglass Suite, and both my husband and I said, "Oh ... wow." when we entered the suite. It was so roomy, complete with a well-appointed kitchenette that included a full size refrigerator, sink, dishware, Keurig, and microwave. The bed was big and comfortable, and the room nicely decorated, including a huge leather couch, and oversized chair, that were situated directly in front of a large flat screen TV. The inn is so close to downtown shopping, eating and sight-seeing, that we left our car parked and walked to almost everything we did, which is the absolute best way to visit Apalachicola’s quirky downtown. The bottom line is that Monica is is an extremely thoughtful and intentional innkeeper, and as a result, we’ll be long time return customers!
All I can say is "Oh my gosh". This place was absolutely wonderful!!! I can't say anything negative!!! Great location, great price, just great all the way around! Stayed two nights and the room was breathtaking. Monica was so polite and so was everyone around! Will stay here every time I can. I really would like to keep Riverwood Suites but I just have to share. I just now told my dentist about it, I have told everyone about!! You can't go wrong booking here!
We will stay here every time we can... this place was beautiful...I couldn't ask for anything more. Great romantic place... I loved being with all the modern design with old stylish updated inside and out. Great waterfall and pergola. Beautiful greenery all around just wonderful. Thank You will be back as much as possible....
The owner gave us a tour of all four units in this unique Apalachicola historical building. My wife, being an interior decorator, was completely in awe. Interior design is a profession that can be studied but these units go above and beyond because they are restoration, enhancement, craftsmanship and art. Headboards, vanities and counter tops are hand crafted from this and other historic buildings. Some of the doorways are original to the building and a hundred years of paint and finishes are partially sanded - resulting in free standing art displays. Every thought is given to guest amenities including environmental conscious soaps and lotions. The owners could not be more gracious. We frequent Apalachicola from our home in Panama City Beach because of wonderful laid back artist community, historical homes and seafood restaurants. This historic building, as restored, is a jewel to the town. Five stars are not enough. Can't wait for more photos to be posted. The downtown location, pricing and ambiance of these rooms are extraordinary.
