If you enjoy both village and country life, then this old Provençal mas is a perfect fit! Located between the villages of Maillane and Eyragues, within a 10 minute drive is St-Rémy-de-Provence, a celebrated town with its old Roman monuments, shops, restaurants, cafés, and a bustling weekly open-air market.

The renovated farmhouse is set in a spacious garden with expansive lawns, an array of trees and beautifully landscaped beds with lavender, oleander and other flowering plants and shrubs. In the center of the lawn is a lovely bassin-style swimming pool. At the far end is a pool house with covered terrace and toilet facilities. Overlooking the garden and pool and running the length of the house is a wonderful covered terrace. The terrace includes an outdoor salon with comfortable rattan sofa and armchairs and a dining area with teak table and chairs for 8 people. This beautiful setting is ideal for relaxing in a quiet spot, socializing and enjoying leisurely al fresco meals.

Inside, the old mas has been totally renovated by a well-known French interior designer. All building materials and appliances are of the highest quality. Stylish contemporary furnishings are paired with selected antique pieces, all accented by colorful handcrafted carpets and original works of art. And with all comforts and conveniences - including air conditioning for warmer months and high speed internet access - this is a home that invites you to settle in and enjoy life in the south of France.

The entryway opens to two handsome living areas with polished concrete floors and white walls. The first is a more casual den with comfortable seating including a cream-colored leather sofa and several armchairs grouped around an upholstered ottoman-coffee table. Opposite on the wall is a large flat-screen television. An archway opens to a larger living room. This is a spacious and welcoming room with an entire wall of wrought-iron framed glass windows and doors opening to the terrace and grounds. A long chocolate-brown sofa and black arm chairs are grouped by two dark wood coffee tables in front of the fireplace. A large red carpet, colorful throw pillows, occasional tables and lamps, an assortment of antique pieces and original works of art enhance the room's unique design.

Another archway opens from the larger living room to the dining room with a heavy wood table that extends to seat up to 12 people. Built-in cabinets provide ample storage for dishes, glasses and cutlery. And a bar with small sink is the perfect spot to arrange drinks. Double doors from the dining area lead to the well-designed kitchen. Long galley-style, it features gray wood cabinets, gray tiled counters and all appliances including a professional-level stove with gas burners and ovens. French doors from both the dining room and kitchen open to the grounds.

There are a total of 4 bedrooms, each with its own full en suite bathroom including toilet facilities. They are all upstairs off a long corridor. The bedrooms are equipped with quality bedding and feature pretty bed covers, curtains, bedside tables, lamps and ample wardrobe space. The bathrooms have fine ceramic tile work and contemporary fixtures. At the top of the stairs on the corner is a large master suite with king bed convertible to twins. The en suite bathroom has a separate shower, tub and double sinks. Two other suites have queen beds and en suite bathrooms with showers. The master and queen suites all have televisions and overlook the garden and pool. The fourth bedroom is smaller and has twin beds and en suite bathroom with shower.

Great Provence Property

We were very lucky to find this beautiful property, very well maintain and equiped in an great location. We were a group of four couples that wanted to enjoy the charm of the Provence, by renting a house and driving to surrounding towns. This house is the perfect match!

Each of us had our own room, all very well decorated, with its own renovated bathroom, breathless views from any window of the house, a very cozy terrace, a great garden, an impecable living room, dining room as other areas.

Steve Rubin, the owner, was of great support prior rental and during our stay, making sure that we were confortable, providing guidance through the process. Great support!

We definitely recommend this house and would like to return!!

We wanted to rest, enjoy the countryside and yet not be too far from some small town and what a delight to discover this lovely mas along a rambling country road. Mas Calendal was paradise for our 2 week stay. You park your car, open the back garden gate, and then walk into a beautiful garden, with buis, lavender, romarin, and already you fall in love with the unique feeling of Provence. You discover a very large terrace with an incredible mass of overhanging wisteria, large comfortable chairs, a long dining table, and already you imagine the evenings that you are going to enjoy just taking in the beauty of the garden. A short walk to a magnificent long 17 meter swimming pool, through a path bordered by' romarin', and a great poolhouse where the very comfortable lounge chairs are stored. The garden layout is wonderfully designed, simple, elegant with different corners where one can read, relax, sleep and just enjoy the singing of the cicadas and the gentle breeze that we were lucky to have. The Mas is extremely comfortable with various lounges, TV room and is decorated with immense taste and charm. One feels totally at home instantlyI The kitchen area is also a treat, extremely well equipped, with everything one could wish for and you can even eat meals in the kitchen, or just outside where we often made barbecues very often with the young ones. The

plus is that the rooms are all upstairs with a view, very comfortable bedding each with individual bathrooms and the house is air-conditioned. The summer being quite hot we found this fantastic to go to bed with a comfortable temperature..the days around the pool were appreciated by all and each day we had a lovely breeze so we were never too hot!! If you do not know Provence this is a perfect Mas from which to go and discover the region….St Remy is 10 minutes away so you can do all your shopping in the area and are so happy to come back to Mas Calendal! And absolutely charming owners who cannot do enough to make you feel at home in a Mas that they love and which exudes a wonderful 'joie de vivre'. Will definitely try to make it again in 2016!

Mas Calendal – Simply Outstanding!

My wife and I stayed in late June 2015 for a week at Mas Calendal with our 3 boys (ages 8, 4 and 2). We’ve had the pleasure of traveling a bit and staying at other VRBO home and apartment rentals in the US and in Europe and this one was simply the best. We spent three weeks in France and the week in Provence at this property was the highlight. The location itself – just a few minutes outside the chaming village of St. Remy de Provence – was wonderful. Day trips for us included St. Remy (once on market day Wednesday and then later), the Camargue, Avignon, the Luberon Hill Country, Les Baux and others. Avignon is about 15/20 minutes away and convenient to take the TGV high speed rail to Paris.

The property itself is wonderful, and reminds us of spending time in Sonoma/Napa wine country in the US. The home is beautifully designed and decorated with modern and antique furnishings, and unique artwork. There is significant attention to detail in design and furnishings that makes the home particularly inviting. The kitchen is large, with large high quality appliances for cooking. The outdoor space has numerous verandas and terraces, surrounded by lavender, olive trees, and wisteria. It is a true delight to sit outside in the many comfortable chairs and read or talk. The spectacular pool makes the backyard and you will want time each day to relax by and in it. The home is quite spacious and felt large enough to spread out in.

The owner of the property met us upon arrival and walked us through the property and its operations. The entire home is air conditioned for hot days, and the wifi worked great throughout the house.

Once our kids went to bed each evening my wife and I would enjoy dinner, some wine and watch the sunset from a great outdoor space by the pool. The week could not have gone better and we both highly recommend the home to anyone wanting the flavor of Provence in a private and sophisticated yet welcoming home.

A Provençal Gem

Mas Calendal is a wonderful place to stay and is ideally located near some beautiful Provençal villages. After having previewed a number of houses the previous year, I chose this lovely villa. My guests and I were extremely pleased with the accommodations. This house is simply great, both inside and outside; for leisure, cooking and entertaining. It’s modern and charming, and extremely well appointed and maintained. The living areas are beautifully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is amazing! Even the best of cooks will be satisfied with all that it has to offer. The appliances, cookware and serving pieces are top quality. We had a chef come to the villa to prepare some meals for us and she said that it was an absolute pleasure to cook in this kitchen.

The beds and en-suite baths are lovely and modern. My guests proclaimed the beds to be the most comfortable beds they have ever encountered while traveling! The outdoor space is stunning! The lovely terrace is an extension of the house providing an ideal place for al fresco dining or to sit and relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

The owner was a delight to work with....available to answer all my questions, providing detailed information about the villa and even meeting me with the keys upon my arrival. I would not hesitate to recommend Mas Calendal to anyone for a great stay in Provence!
