Wonderful apartment!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Antonia's apartment. It is artistically decorated and very authentic. It was so nice to have a great selection of music, beautiful art on the walls and an amazing kitchen to use. The suite also looks over a beautiful garden. Antonia was easy to get in touch with and her housekeeper was available for our late night arrival which we appreciated. We didn't have a SIM card for our phone when we arrived so asked a fellow at the restaurant next door to call and let the housekeeper know we were outside the building. Such a vibrant neighbourhood so everything was open late, lucky for us! We really appreciated the fan at night as the weather was warm. Would have been nice to have another one for our daughter in the second bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was well stocked with plenty of towels and facecloths. We were a little confused about who was responsible for things such as toilet paper, dish and laundry soap as there was little or none at all. We used Paypal for the deposit and were expected to reimburse the 3% that the vendor is charged. This was a bit unusual but I had read this in another review so I was not too surprised by it. All in all I would say this was an amazing apartment to stay in and it was a great location. Thank you Antonia for opening your home to us.

Great spot in the best part of Paris

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in this apartment for two weeks in July 2015. It is in a splendid location - quiet & peaceful but very central to everything that matters. The rue Montorguel area is a pedestrian zone so very little traffic and it makes for a very buzzy restaurant, cafe & bar scene so great atmosphere at all times. The apartment is a little tired however and the beds are problematical but generally a great place to stay. Try out Regis Colin for baguettes & croissants - best around and Le Grappillon for very good traditional meal at a good price.

A Carlon.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I have been remiss in not writing about this wonderful apartment in the heart of Paris. This beautiful gem is the perfect place for a small family or couple. My 23 year old daughter and I spent the week of a lifetime in this apartment and Madam Carlon was the most wonderful host! The apartment is in the middle of everything - we walked all over the city to museums, shops, restaurants, etc.. Easy, easy access to the metro and train for Charles De Gaulle airport too. The furnishings are absolutely lovely, the kitchen is beautiful and everything is clean and fresh. Antoinette welcomed us and was just so helpful. Even at the end, when my daughter was staying to meet up with her college cohort and I was headed back to the US, she offered to assist as my daughter wasn't feeling very well. A lovely place and a lovely person to deal with. We'd go back again in a heart beat!

We now call this our pied-à-terre in Paris

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I stayed here for five wonderful weeks in July and August, 2014. We found the apartment to be quiet, comfortable and practical. Its location between two courtyards eliminates street noise. Yet the trendy Montorgueil pedestrian district is less than a minute away, the Marais 10 minutes, and the Louvre 15. It is a perfect neighborhood for walking. Two Metro lines (the #3 east-west and #4 north-south) make it convenient to go farther in any direction.

The kitchen is modern, well-equipped and generous by any big-city standard, and the three large, north-facing French doors in the living room and bedroom provide abundant light. One of its many features is the delightful and eclectic art collection which brightens every room and reaches from floor to ceiling, literally.

Paris is a city of steps and stairs -- and this apartment is on the 2nd (3rd U.S.) floor -- but anyone visiting in the city must routinely climb stairs rather than taking elevators, which are rare. We adapted quickly and easily.

A room fan is provided for warmer days and with the large French windows open that's all we ever needed (in July and August.)

Having a washing machine was very helpful. We would have easily awarded a 5th star for a microwave and clothes dryer. But even without them we had a delightful stay and would happily return.

The owner is particularly cordial and helpful and most eager to ensure a pleasant visit. At our option, we engaged her maid to do the cleaning, at a most reasonable price. This is an added plus, as the maid was familiar with the apartment and the owner's preferences.

Hidden pearl in Paris

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three absolutely loved the gorgeous/roomy and excellent location of the apartment! The owner greeted us on arrival and showed us how everything worked. We felt very at home. A RER station from the airport and other subway stations are walking distance which made it very easy for us to get around Paris. (Make sure you always have cash for train and subway, credit cards don't work at times.) We found that out the hard way! Each morning we loved walking down Rue Montorgeuil and stopping to buy fresh pastries and jambon sandwiches. At the end of the day, the shops would have amazing choices for our dinner. We loved buying roasted chicken, quiche, scalloped au gratin potatoes, fresh fruit, etc. to take back home. If you are missing yummy hamburgers and fries, there is a hamburger joint very close to apartment. People were lined up each night waiting to order! We did not see all the sights of Paris, so our family will stay here again next trip!

The perfect Parisian vacation

  • 5 of 5

The two weeks spent in this lovely apartment in the perfect location in Paris was the holiday of dreams. Finding quiet and space in the very centre of Paris for two people who love to cook was perfect. Everything has been thought of and made comfortable for the renter. There is a lovely fore court before entering the building and an exquisite garden in the back. The furnishings are lovely and comfortable with a great library of books and CDs plus a TV and VCR which we did not use. The Montorgeuil quarter offers wonderful dining out and every possible food source for the serious cook, which my friend and I are. The history of the building and the area where it resides are an adventure in themselves. It is a two flight walkup, but it was not a problem. There is also free phone and internet which was a great advantage, a six burner stove and a large fridge and dishwasher - everything to make one feel at home. Lucky the people who have the privilege to stay here.

Please note that if you are going to pay for this property with PayPal, that there is a charge on both ends. They charge the lessor about 3.5%, so that if you think you are paying €1000, she is only getting €960. Make sure to agree on the total amount to be paid with the landlady before you go as there seemed to be some confusion about how PayPal works. They also charge on the lessee's end by giving you a very bad exchange rate. If possible, pay by cash.

My thanks again to our wonderful host and I hope to be able to stay there again - as soon as possible!

Car: not necessary

the area of Montorgueil is limited to pedestrians and residential traffic.

The nearest subway stations are : Sentier, Réaumur-sébastopol les Halles, and the RER is Chalelet-les halles, which is direct from the Roissy Airport and the train gare de Lyon

The neighborhood is very vibrant there are many shops, museums and lots of attractions
