By way of introduction I am a working Mom who keeps books for our City School System in my hometown, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I have also enjoyed living in Georgia and Nevada. In the evenings and on weekends I rent daily & weekly accommodations in Florida, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and guest quarters for special events in Tuscaloosa. I have always wanted a restaurant or hotel so this type of business satisfies the need to work with people and has the extra bonus of meeting guests from all over.
My rental business began in 1988, it is hard work but worth it. My goal is to give every guest the best accommodations at the best rate. When my guests are
happy, I'm happy!
I purchased 'Mountain Magnolia' because of the PRIVACY & GREAT MOUNTAIN VIEW. It is only 4 miles from downtown Gatlinburg. It is within 3 miles of a grocery stores, video store, 24/7 year round deli, even a new McDonald's just opened. Many great restaurants are within 4 miles. All of these can be reached without getting into the Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge traffic. It is on the Arts & Crafts side of Gatlinburg so no steep, winding roads to travel.
This cabin sits on top of a small mountain. The view is great, the air is fresh and only one other cabin is on this road so minimal traffic, NO NOISE. There are cabins below and in the distance, lights and smoke from their chimneys can be seen. HOT TUB ON THE DECK, REAL WOOD BURNING FIREPLACE INSIDE. Did I mention, the Gatlinburg air really smells GOOD!!
This cabin was completely redecorated in March '09. It is clean, fresh, not cluttered and very
tastefully furnished. It has original art prints throughout creating a very homey feeling & personal touch. The kitchen is huge and completely furnished to cook in or relax in while looking at the view from the large windows. COMPLETE COMFORT !!!
We stayed in Mtn Magnolia for a week while we vacationed in Gatlinburg. It was perfect! Plenty of room for our family and I loved how secluded it felt. We actually had a bear to get into the trash while we were there! Hoping the wildfires have not damaged the property as we will be returning again. Thank you Gloria for your hospitality!
While staying at the cabin you feel totally secluded from the rest of the world. It's only a 10-15 drive to town and the National Park, which has some of the best hiking trails we've ever hiked. Start your day by sitting on the deck looking at the clouds coming over the mountains, beautiful! We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings when it was getting cool. The cabin has very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and great TV/internet access. Gloria was very easy to work with and answered questions promptly. Highly recommend!
My family of 6.5 (4 adults and 2 kids+ a dog) enjoyed 2-night stay in the Magnolia. If you are looking for a quiet, up in the mountain, but still close to attractions, get-a-way, I would highly recommend. The cabin was around 4 miles up in the mountain, taking you through some very tight, winding, steep hilly roads. However, we were less 10 mins away from downtown Gatlinburg and 15 from the most Southern point of Pigeon Forge. The cabin has the beautiful view you see in the picture from the deck. My kids really enjoyed the hot tub! As mentioned in another porch, we did have it go out one time, but you just have to reset it (button on bottom). The cabin was comfortable and clean overall. The beds were very comfortable and the pull out sleeping couch was also in great shape and perfect for our kids. The overall decor is nothing luxurious, but simple and cute. You can tell there has been minor updates/purchases, but I think the most wear I saw was on the doors and trim. We had a very large truck and full size car-parked just fine. I did e-mail Gloria one time regarding an index notecard with contact info for discount tickets left on the coffee table with other coupons and visitors guides. Come to find out, it was one of those vacation rental sales person contacts, so you had to do a 2-hour sit & listen presentation then get tickets. She did respond to me promptly. Overall, we did not spend a lot of time at the cabin, but this was a great location and value when compared to other lodging in the area, PLUS....it was located right in the middle of the hills of the Great Smokey Mountains! We were about half way up the mountain and literally above the 'smoke' of blue clouds rising in the morning. It was the perfect match of getting away, but not too far (the Food City grocery store was less than a mile off the main road down from the cabin). The only things I would recommend to Gloria or a 'good to know' about small details of the cabin: the bathroom towel rack fell a couple of times, the dryer does not get very hot, so will take longer to dry clothes, the doors and trim look like the originals and has the most wear of anything in the cabin, there was a low supply of towels for my family of 6, but would be fine with 4 or less (we just washed them), we went and bought some dishwasher detergent, although Gloria says you can use dishwasher soap, the bathrooms are tight and space is limited, a bath rug/mat outside shower, and some wall hooks for towels would be nice.
This is our 3rd time at Gloria's place! We love coming to her cabin & always hate to leave! We have 3 teenage sons & they take up the king size bedroom & love having their PS-4 set up! My husband & I love the smaller room with the super comfortable bed! Love the flat screen tvs in each room! Love having the washer/dryer too! LOVE that Gloria improved the flooring now! So much easier to keep clean! We love the hot tub & the views are spectacular! We enjoy being so close to Food City, Dominos Pizza & Mcd's! It's so convenient to any place you want to go! Every night we are here we always end the evening with the beautiful stroll on the Gatlinburg Trail in town! Love the fact we are so close to it! We spend all our time hiking so Gloria's place is absolutely perfect for location! Gloria has the best housekeepers too! Devra is awesome & she does a fantastic job keeping it clean & takes pride in upkeep as well! The cabin is always improving every spring break we've been here! It's getting better & better each time! We are already excited about coming back 2017! I will miss the beautiful view off the deck! I'll miss the coziness & peace at the cabin!
To be honest, I was a little skeptical upon driving into town, following directions, wondering if this would be the seclusion we wanted. The more we drove up the hill, the skepticism went away, and was totally gone the second I walked up on the deck, to a beautiful view. It was GREAT to be so close to everything, so secluded and far away, if that makes sense. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Everything worked great, even though it looks like there is a little bit of renovation going on in the bathrooms. Don't let this deter you. It was a wonderful visit! Ms. Gloria was very easy to deal with, and very responsive! When we come again, we will definitely stay here again, hopefully for longer!
We were appreciative of Gloria allowing us to stay at her chalet. We have used VRBO in the past, and have enjoyed staying at these places. The chalet suited us in size. However, the place was not clean. It appeared that it had not been vacuumed and the counters and sink in kitchen were filthy. I informed Gloria and she said she would have the cleaner come back out. We just decided to vacuum and clean the chalet ourselves since our personal items were already inside. We hope that the cleaner will know what is expected of her next time. Also, we actually do cook when we go away, and I didn't have any pot holders, measuring cups, and the kitchen was limited on untensils for cooking. We did enjoy coming back in the evening to a very nice hot tub. I would also suggest since the floors were replaced that the furniture have scratch resistance pads under them, especially kitchen chairs. Thank you Gloria for responding promptly to my emails.
