We were simply awestruck by the beauty seen from the homesite. We've never been in a place with such varied and magnificent views and with sunsets and rainbows like we've never known. They call New Mexico the land of enchantment and being up on this mountainside looking down to the valley below and mountains around us is exactly what the brochures claim, as hard as that may be to believe. Enchanting is the correct word.
Odd as it may sound, we have a lot of birds here even though it's a dryer kind of forest (pinon and juniper) with some sagebrush. We do have a water feature, an orchard and some special plantings for birds, so we end up with nesting Mountain Bluebirds, Towhees, Hummingbirds and a wide variety of other birds large and small. Our floor to ceiling windows in the dining room give a real birds-eye view (sorry, couldn't help myself) of their shenanigans.
This is a hoise I would highly recommend to those heading to Taos. The house is about 6 miles South of Taos - close enough to be in Taos in 10 minutes but out far enough to have great views and spectacular sunsets! We spent mornings and late afternoons outside just taking in the scenery. We really enjoyed the Hummingbirds and rabbits..
The house is situated ideally for day trips, having great access to the major highways. The owner is extrememly accommodating as well!
The house is set up with several rooms ideal for reading while enjoying the scenery outdoors. There are books and DVD's for everyone and the kitchen is great with all the necessities.
If you're coming to Taos, this is the house for you!
This home was perfect for our large family of 11 (5 were kids) to gather during the Holiday season. We were thrilled to see that there was snow at the house! Lots of it! And since the home is on larger acreage there was so much to explore on the property and so much snow to play in. This home is on a private drive on a mesa which provides AMAZING views. Mountain views one way, valley views another and we could see Taos city lights at night when standing on the driveway. It seems like there are no neighboring homes because all the surrounding properties are large and the homes are camouflaged NM style. The home is stocked with all household essentials, the kitchen has just about everything. Our favorite room was the dining/ family room area to sit and drink coffee while watching the sunrise. There really are a lot of birds attracted to this property, while the owner supplies them with bird seed and let us know that we can put some of it out as well. It was cool to watch them through the beautiful floor to ceiling windows (which aren’t in the photos in VBRO). The large dining table was great for playing games! It’s also nice that there was a “mud hall” at the entry for hanging coats and stowing snow boots. There are really three areas in the home with seating areas – like three family rooms, it makes for lots of different gathering places for family to either be together or have time by themselves. Perfectly located, very easy access to the 518 which leads to “the sled hill” and Sipapu ski resort I think its about 23 minute drive to the sledding and 34 mins from skiing... Smiths grocery store has everything and is only about 10 minutes away. We bought sleds at Big Five Sports, although the owner left one for us to use. The owner was great to deal with and gave us a tour of the home. The home is as pictured but better! So glad we rented this home and if we ever go back to New Mexico Taos area we would want to stay here again.
We were all excited when we pulled up, Cash (6) and Mia (5) couldn't believe we were going to live here for 4 days. The kids room was Awesome. I would have liked to had the common area outside weeded and it would have been nice to have the fountain working but that was the only complaint.
We ate at the 5 star burgers- It was excellent, Went to the Taos Pueblo(very cool). I would recommend taking the trolley tour-$43 per person , it will take you to the Pueblo and a few other places. We didn't do this but had we known about it we would have rather skipped the driving. The Rio Grande Gorge is a must. You can see it from the house and you actually drive down into it. Pretty cool views. Nice shops for the kids to pick out gifts and treasures. Lots to do and pacing yourself/ staying hydrated is very crutial especially with little ones.
The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful, bird watching was fun and we saw our first jack rabbit. We did a lot of sightseeing using the Taos book provided.Coming home to a big spacious house was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your home with my family, We all met here for a family Vacation.(California, Missouri and Illinois) we will be returning in near future and we be recommending this trip to others. Thanks Again for sharing your home. John and Sherry Braun and Family
If you want to be outside town, only a few minutes, in an attractive home with awesome views and sunsets, this is the place. Steve, the owner, is very attentive and a good host. We look forward to another opportunity to stay.

Overall this was a really nice house to stay in - the location and views of the mountains and high desert were amazing. It was quiet
and an easy place to relax. The fire pit out back is great. Bird watching was excellent. Kitchen is well equipped, which I found helpful as I like
to cook. Lots of sleeping space if you have a big group. Proximity to Taos is fantastic, as well as many things
to do, such as walks, hikes, art galleries, scenic drives, etc. The owner checked in before my arrival to make sure I had the info we needed,
which I appreciated.
My only (constructive)criticism has to do with the master bed - it was so uncomfortable. We have had this challenge with a few rentals
and truly wish the owners would invest in higher quality/newer beds for guests - it would go a long way.
Beautiful comfortable home, peaceful and idyllic location with a stunning view and amazing sunsets. Great communicative hosts. Could not have been a better experience! Highly recommended!
