About The Owner

Both born and raised in Healdsburg, CA, we have been coming to the Hat Creek area for over 50 years like many from Sonoma County. We have lived in the town of Old Station for the past ten years. We recently sold JJ's Cafe in Old Station in 2013 and are enjoying retirement in this beautiful mountain town. If you ever have a question on the wonderful things to do in the area, please let us know.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2003

What makes this cabin unique

Friendly Hostess, Comfy Bed, Nice House

  • 4 of 5

Loved that Judy came right over when we arrived to introduce herself as it made us feel very welcome and made us feel at home in the house. House had just about everything needed. We weren't actually there very much but to sleep between hikes but it was very comfortable. We got pizza at the gas station/convenience store to bake in oven for supper. Slept with windows open but was a little warm in evenings and we ran the fan. Since no ceiling fans, a fan for each bedroom would have been nice. Didn't look but with a mirror in my room I could have used an extension cord so I could have more conveniently used my blow dryer & curling iron since the bathroom was small and shared by us three women. The house was a nice respite for us tired hikers!!

Beautiful property- close by lassen national park

  • 5 of 5

I was amazed at how big the cabin actually was! You could easily have 5-6 adults sleep here comfortably. Nice fire pit outside, chairs and gas BBQ. Quiet, quaint neighborhood. We were especially grateful for the fully stocked kitchen. Appreciated the outlet covers (as we had a 11 month old crawler with us) and thhat he house as a whole was pretty kid/baby friendly. Will stay again!

Perfect for our needs

  • 5 of 5

This house is conveniently located, being near to the Lassen National Park entrance. The Hat Creek looked beautiful and we hope to fish there in the future. The house had everything we needed. It was clean and in good shape. We did wish that the shower had been larger but this was a small point in an otherwise great stay.

Quirky Well-equipped Country Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Our first rental experience with VRBO went very smoothly. All of our communication with Judy, cabin owner, was pleasant and timely. We booked the cabin several months in advance and really appreciated her reminder contact two weeks before our rental date, giving info about the town and cabin access. Judy greeted us briefly as we unloaded our car and told us to contact them if we needed anything (she and her husband live in another home nextdoor).

The cabin is in a small, quiet, residential neighborhood. It was clean with 3 spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. The kitchen was well-equipped, but no dishwasher. The screens in both drains and no visible switch lead us to believe there was no garbage disposal. As we were cleaning up right before check out we discovered the disposal switch in the cabinet under the sink! (A note at the sink would have been helpful.) The bathroom layout is quirky but functional, however, the shower stall is quite small. The real bonus for us was the washer (in the bathroom) and dryer (in the enclosed backyard area). Thank goodness for the air conditioner and portable fan because the heatwave brought several days of 100 degree F weather! The cabin was perfectly located just outside the Lassen National Park, which was our destination. We had a nice stay.

Very Nice Little house near Lassen National Park

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice 3 bedroom house in a quiet location near Lassen National park. The house is very clean and Judy and John the owners welcomed us when we arrived. Full kitchen, laundry and all amenities. Wifi worked well since there is no cell coverage in Old Station. I would recommend this for couples or families that want to away from the hustle and bustle and want to fish in nearby Hat Creek.

Excellent VRBO experience. Place was just as described and in an excellent location. Lots of room, clean, and overall decent setup. Recommended for trips into Lassen and Hat Creek area...don't forget to see Burney Falls.
