Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Hampton

This ultimate relaxation property consists of a 3-bedroom house with large eat-out terrace and beautiful views overlooking own private, swimming pond. The entire property is very secluded and contemplative; with a winding driveway off a local road. It is a unique and quiet place to relax and unwind around friends and family. There is a 20's style screened-in outhouse with 2 changing rooms overlooking the pond. Near the diving deck there is a stone BBQ and fire pit for entertaining. Mature and beautiful flower gardens and old trees surround pond (and an extra 7 acres of forest of which 3 sides back on to the Edwin Teale Audubon Bird Sanctuary–great for long walks). Large, maintained vegetable garden ( herbs and vegetables) and the pond is ideal for swimming, canoeing and fishing. There are 2 small waterfalls, one flowing past the house and one running into the pond, you can hear the running water from one of the bedrooms. There are 3-walk bridges crossing streams. Perfect for a tranquil and restorative summer vacation.

Rented with a 3-day minimum. The price ($125/night) is for 4 people. Add $10/night per any additional guest; with a maximum of 6 people.

On the property of 10 acres there 3 structures: the main house, the change-room by the pond, and a small cottage where my caretaker sometimes stays when doing chores (if you do not want anybody staying there, please speak to the owner and it can easily be arranged).

About Pia Rigby

I lived in NYC for 25 years and now am in Italy. I come to the States often for work, family and friends.

Pia Rigby purchased this house in 2014

Why Pia Rigby chose Connecticut

A peaceful place to relax, create and get away from it all and yet still be near NY and those close to me. My parents had a second home in the area for years.

What makes this house unique

Totally private, with an incredible view from the house of a beautiful, fresh water swimming pond. Sun and shade, great for gardening and has a vegetable garden. Perfect for contemplation and creativity.

Fantastic Place

  • 4 of 5

The property was amazing, really quiet and private. My family had and awesome time. I am really thankful that I was able to celebrate my daughter's birthday last Sunday with relatives and parents who lives in CT, everyone had a great time. During our stay we enjoyed the place, we swam in the lake and enjoyed the view from the deck. My daughter slept in one of the bedroom with single beds, and my husband and I used the second room which has a beautiful balcony. This is a great place to relax and get away for the hectic life. It has a lot of books and games, so we used our spare time to read and play.

Also, the place was neat and cozy, and the kitchen had everything that we needed. Washer and dryer were available too. The pond and garden were spectacular.

I only have few suggestions: The water from the house has a weird smell of sulfur; fortunately, we had with us bottles of water to drink and cook, It has couple filters but we decided to use our own water. Second, the room in the basement has a particular smell too, it has a dehumidifier but it is not enough, I think the room need more ventilation with fresh air, the area need some open windows or screen door; and finally a coat of paint for the house and the deck Other than that, the place is great, it just needs few details that need to be repaired and it will be a paradise.

I will not hesitate to rent this place again. One more thing the communication between Pia and her assistance were friendly and helpful. Thank you both

Simply Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Serenissima was the first property I looked at that met my search criteria and I was instantly in love... I told myself that I should keep looking rather than immediately choosing the first one, but several rental views later, I knew that it was *the one* & I'm so glad that I went with my gut!

The grounds are even more lovely than the pics show and the house itself is so cozy & charming.

Pia is understating what is available at the house when she said in the description that most of the basics are included. Not only are there pretty much any kitchenware & gadgets that you could ever ask for, but the home has a great little library of books and some board games & some outdoor recreation items, too (croquet was my favorite find!). Most toiletries were there (tho we brought our own), washer & dryer on premises... there were even spices & other cooking basics in the cupboards.

Other things that I didn't notice in the pictures included a fire pit with benches around it for campfires (that we didn't end up using, but still pretty cool) and an outdoor stone cooking stove (like campsites sometimes have, and there was also a small traditional grill).

And the surrounding area is so remote & lushly green and gorgeous (& that's coming from a Vermonter!).

Really there's just too much to mention! If we don't end up moving across the country this year, we would definitely want to stay here again.

Quiet oasis

  • 5 of 5

Pia's place is so nice! The garden and pond are beautiful and relaxing, while her house has everything you need for a stress free stay. Despite visiting in mid-July, we beat the heat with many fans, and the cooling effect of the woods. Pia was welcoming to our two dogs, which was great because many places won't allow them. Although the well water smelled a little of sulfur, the filter on the kitchen sink was very effective for drinking water and we noticed zero residual scent after showering. We would definitely stay here again!

Love,y private retreat

  • 5 of 5

I almost don't want to tell you how much I love this place so it'll be my secret . It's a great secluded retreat in the middle of a nature reserve . I usually listen to NPR obsessivly but while I was there I enjoyed the constant bird songs so much I almost got annoyed when my friend put on music ( music I normally love ) .

The house is simple but has everything you need ( though doesn't have a few things you might want like TV , microwave or a dishwasher ) and is laid out well with an open living room kitchen , two upstairs bedrooms and one very private downstairs bedroom with a patio which is perfect for anyone like a surly teen or a romantic couple that would like some extra privacy .

The kitchen was well equipped for cooking with plenty of dishes , pots and pans , a full size refrigerater and stove and ample counter space .

The surroundings are bucolic with a pond , waterfall , lots of flowers , butterflies and birds

. My dogs were in heaven .

There are also some charming small towns and cities nearby for day trips with loads of restaurants and antique stores etc.

Just the place if you want to get away from it all .

The only thing I didn't like was that the water is sulphury and the water pressure is not great . However , though those things would normally really bother me I loved the place so much it was hard to get annoyed by anything .

Pia the owner is easy going and delightful . She is there if you need her and not if you don't . I really enjoyed meeting her and liked her immediately .
