Fun at the Rivers Edge

  • 5 of 5

My siblings and I and our spouses had the best time at the Rivers Edge.....The cabin was cozy...warm and inviting....the out door space was utilized to its fullest potential....we grilled out every night.....much fishing was done ....right from the back door....every night we had a fire .....everyone slept like babies after getting out of the hot tub....we had so many things to choose from to do....we took the 4 hour train ride which included lunch....it was great.....we also went gem mining and that was way fun.....my brother and husband played golf....it was one of our best get aways....the owner Tiffany is a sweet heart....very accommodating.....I would recommend this rental to anyone ......many memories were made.....and lots of Kodak moments

Excellent Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to leave a quick note here to say that our family absolutely loved our stay at the Riverfront Log cabin. We had my wife and I, 3 teenage boys, and 2 golden retrievers at the cabin for 3 nights at the end of August.

The cabin is a beautiful old cabin with modern amenities. The location was perfect. Being on the water is the best, but having Elkins only 10 minutes away for groceries and a few restaurants makes planning a trip down here super simple.

My kids loved fishing off the deck (we caught a few fish), hanging in the hot tub, the firepit for smore's, and the cool trap door that separates the upstairs from the downstairs in the cabin. Our dogs loved to run around and just generally be outside dogs next to the river for a few days. My wife and I loved the peace and tranquility of the river, the way the sunlight reflects off the water at sunset and sunrise, and the break from our everyday lives.

While at the cabin we visited Blackwater Falls (actually on the drive in), Seneca Rocks, Bickel Knob, and the Bowden Fish Hatchery. All were cool adventures. We ate breakfast and lunch at the cabin, but went to Elkins for dinner. Really enjoyed Smoke on the Water.

Long story short...Excellent cabin. We can't wait to visit again.

wonderful family retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the cabin - enjoying the porch, deck, and hot tub, all overlooking the water. And we enjoyed the area too - taking a 4-hour train ride through the mountains, driving to see Blackwater Falls and having ice cream in nearby Davis, bbq dinners and music on the porch of nearby Smoke on the Water where our dog was welcome too, the small museum and tennis courts at Davis & Elkins College, coming home to make s'mores at the firepit along the river. We miss it already.

The Ultimate Rustic Cabin Experience!

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for an iconic deep-woods cabin experience, look no further than River’s Edge. Tiffany (the VRBO host) has done an admirable job of making sure that your every need is attended too—from supplying guests with firewood to ensuring a nicely stocked kitchen. It’s all the small details that make the difference, and there’s really not a lot you need to bring with you other than food and the right attitude. That being said, the river location is perfect and pretty secluded – and this warm and rustic cabin has all the features you’d ever want, including an amazing hot tub, inside fireplaces, a hammock and screened porch, outside picnic areas, a beautiful fire pit area, and even extremely good Wi-Fi. If you don’t have a good time at River’s Edge, you can’t blame it on the place or location. We had a bit of cooler weather, so we spent a lot of time in the new-looking hot tub, which was beyond relaxing. Hearing the trains occasionally roll by made the experience even more special.

Just a warning for all you Verizon cellular users – but Elkins is 100% no coverage, so don’t expect to get a signal anywhere in town – and I mean anywhere! You’ll have to use cabin Wi-Fi and FaceTime (or email) if you want to chat with friends and family back home. Although we did eat in a few times, I highly recommend “Smoke on the Water” for good BBQ. If you’re looking for a special occasion dinner, The Forks Inn has absolutely wonderful views and equally amazing food to back those up. The crab cakes are out of this world!
