When you first arrive, you'll be drawn to the large upper covered deck, with its impressive mountain view. You'll love to dine al fresco on the deck, BBQ grill at hand, watching sheep grazing distantly on the mountains or enjoying birds in the birdhouse. The deck can be closed off from the stairs with a latching gate, making it toddler-friendly.
The upper level of the house is where you will find the main living room, complete with TV (Internet connectivity only - no satellite or cable to interrupt your vacation), a wood stove, and brand new leather furniture for lounging. Behind the living space, next to the doors leading to the deck, you'll find an excellent eating area, easily seating 6 at a brand new dining set, with great window views to greet you as you sip your morning coffee. The kitchen, outfitted well with everything you need to cook at home, is crisp and clean. Expand your dining and cooking options onto the large, covered deck, where you will find a gas-fired barbeque grill and an outdoor dining set for four.
Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are featured on this upper floor. Each bedroom has a queen bed with brand new memory foam mattresses, fresh and new bedding, and simple touches to inspire relaxation. The bathroom feels fresh and benefits from natural light through a shower window.
The lower level of the house provides a third bedroom, a spare room, and a second bathroom for additional guests. The bedroom has two brand new full beds, each with memory foam mattresses and new bedding. The full bathroom is clean, feeling new with nice fixtures and touches. The extra room in the basement houses a bunk bed with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on the top, a couch for lounging and even a game table. There is also a toddler bed available as needed, movable to any bedroom.
Downstairs you will also find the full-size washer and dryer.
The lower deck has a swing, perfect for that evening drink, swaying to the sound of the breeze in the forest. The property is well surrounded by mature spruce forest, in a quiet residential area with the small-town vibe. Enjoy the sound and sights of the extra visitors and residents in the treetop bird houses on property. When wildfire danger is low, enjoy the firebowl out on the lawn.
A short walk, about 1/4 mile, down the quiet road brings you to a public access to beautiful, turquoise Kenai Lake. We can even rent you kayaks and canoes to make the most of the proximity. You'll be reminded of why you chose Cooper Landing for your Alaskan vacation: pure beauty!
My name is Jessica, and I have been a professional in the hospitality lodging industry for many years. I've turned my specialization to private vacation homes in a place I only ever dreamed I would live - Cooper Landing, Alaska. I first started coming to Alaska between college semesters for summer work in Denali National Park in 1998, then moved to the state permanently in 2003. I lived in Anchorage for several years, where I married my husband Courtney and became the mother of three awesome children. We moved to Cooper Landing, where we had been recreating for years, in 2011 and have felt at home ever since. I find great satisfaction in making a living space feel clean, comforting and welcoming, especially for our guests. It's a pleasure to host you here!
The owners of this home are devoted to giving you a great vacation rental experience, too. This house is truly a second home - it feels loved and lived in - and they have done so many updates and improvements to the furnishings and feel, wanting you to be as comfortable as possible. You have wonderful hosts when you stay at the Starbright Home!
Jessica Larsen purchased this house in 2014
It's my pleasure to only manage a few quality homes at a time, to be able to provide each the personal attention it and its guests deserve. This house is a nice addition to my current management accounts because it's so gently lived in, clean and fresh, has a relaxing atmosphere, and suits a family traveling on a moderate budget.
What I like most about this home is the huge covered deck and the porch swing. The birds are very active in the surrounding woods, the breeze is almost always so gentle, and even in a rain, you can stay dry and protected while seeing nature in its majesty. The mountain view from the deck keeps taking my breath away.
Our group of 10 had a fantastic stay for our family reunion. The house was a perfect fit. Jessica was super helpful bringing by a couple of items we needed, including games and a hair dryer. Thank you for the delicious cookies, too! Perfect location, great views, comfortable beds, cozy house-its a great place to stay for a vacation! Thank you so much!!
(Sorry this review is months late!)
Our group of 7 all loved the Starbright House! We spent much of our time sitting on the deck watching the Dall sheep and mountain goats through the spotting scope that is provided. We all slept great in the memory foam beds and found the kitchen to be well stocked with the necessary utensils. During our stay we went to Seward and took a fabulous Kenai Fjord cruise with Major Marine and ate a delicious meal at The Salmon Bake on our way back. We hiked to Russian River Falls and saw salmon attempting to jump up the rapids to spawn. We loved the scenic drive along the Seward Highway and found the Cooper Landing area to be high on our list of favorite places in Alaska! We took the drive through Skilak Wildlife Recreation Area but didn't see any wildlife that day. We would definitely return to this rental and recommend it to others!
We stayed here 3 nights beginning of June. When we arrived Jessica had warm cookies waiting for us! With 4 adults and 3 teens we weren't sure what to expect. The house ended up being perfect for us. The teens slept down stairs while the adults shared the 2 rooms upstairs. The kitchen is stocked, beds were comfortable, and meals on the deck were great! The location is perfect if you're looking for a central point for Soldotna and Seward.
Thanks for the great time!
Upon our arrival of course the first thing you notice is how awesome the view is and how well manicured it is on the outside of the house. As we entered I had a good feeling right away about the place. It seemed to be very tidy and clean and as I walked around the rest of the house it too was very clean which is one of the top priorities for me when staying anywhere. We had everything we needed and plenty of room. Loved having my coffee in the mornings either out on the top deck or on the underneath deck on the swing. So peaceful and breathtaking. It's also a great place because it is so centrally located to all the other places with plenty to do right there in Cooper Landing. I really wish we had just a couple more days as it went by so fast. With this being said, I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay here again if and whenever we return. Thank you Jessica and Courtney for a positive and wonderful stay in Cooper Landing. Can't wait to come back.
We arrived after several days of traveling from place to place to a plate of cookies and a beautiful quiet cabin. It was in a perfect location for our final week in Alaska. We were able to explore the Kenai peninsula with easy drives to Seward and Homer areas. The owners even thought of all the essentials to make us more comfortable, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, etc. There was even a binder listing the area resturants and businesses, very helpful to tired and hungry travelers. I would defiantly recommend this cabin to others. I wish everyone paid attention to the little details like they did.
I would rent this place all over again!! My family of 4 really enjoyed the spacious privacy that this convenient home provided. As a Pilot I have stayed at many places and this one gets an A for attention to detail. The owners go out of their way to think of every little detail ahead of time. As we entered the home there was a great book about the surrounding area including menu's - big help. Along side the welcome letter was a very nice and stocked gift basket of all the little things that you'll use and probably forgot to buy. Again unexpected and very generous. The bathrooms were stocked as well, Shampoo,Conditioner, and soap and not the mini ones either- real full size ones. Also the closet was full of supplies needed to replenish any need. Not only was the outside fire pit ready to go but so was the indoor wood burning stove. The home has a bunch of board games, decks of cards and some outside games as well. Plenty of extra's.
The owners are extremely accommodating. They were both always available and ready to help make the trip whatever we wanted it to be. With offers to help plan ahead of time to offering to let us use their canoes and kayak's you can tell they actually do care. In fact one evening we were pleasantly surprised when we found a fresh baked loaf of desert bread left at the doorstep for us - just to say thanks. And it was Delicious. I've never had that kind of personalization at any other place I have stayed.
I'd like to take this time to publicly thank You for a wonderful stay and look forward to coming back.
Cooper Landing is the best place on the Kenai Peninsula to stage a multi-day stay.
